Which book should we read next? Like my comment below this between the two choices for which one you want.
From Blood and Ash by Jennifer Armentrout
Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
@@MattsFantasyBookReviews Kinda wanna say Iron Flame just because that'll be fun to watch you suffer through.
@@MathiasSteenJensentrust me he’ll suffer thru FBaA more
Jade City would be a better pick...I love Brandon Sanderson and I even think Warbreaker is super weak.
Matt you are the luckiest dude in the world. Not only does your wife read fantasy for you, but brings her friend along. My husband would never! 😂😂 I haven’t read Warbreaker in years but one thing I do remember is the big reveal at the end, which was my favorite part of the book.
Thanks, I am totally the luckiest dude in the world!
I think they might have liked Mistborn Final Empire. A forbidden romance and much faster pacing. It's always fun when you have these two on. :)
Seconded, Mistborn is a good pick!!
It's probably the tamest romance ever I don't think that fits their criteria lol
Should've had them read Tress!
Ohhhhh that's a great call. I might make that the next one.
This was amazing!! Really great change of pace for the channel, definitely keep up the series please
I’m glad the ladies kinda liked it, despite the issues they had. As newer fantasy readers they have a lot to learn lol. Can’t wait for the next one!!
Love this idea, but I do agree with them, you should choose a book that you love, not just one you liked.
I love these videos, always a great time. I feel like Powder Mage would be a good series to get them to read, I think they'd love the relationship between Taniel and Ka-Poel even without spicy scenes.
Warbreaker was one of my early Sanderson reads and still one of my favorites! I'm not saying it's flawless, but I adore the character work done within and am always on board for Sanderson's standalone fantasy. Awesome discussion, thanks Matt!
That castle tattoo on your friends hand is awesome!
“She was 17 and he was basically like 4” - hilarious comment
Great video Matt, squeezed between two stunners…. Lucky fella 😉 THE DOGO IS GORGEOUS!!!!
I feel Christie would enjoy Joe Abercrombie. Idk if your wife would. 😂
I vote y'all do the Blood and Ash choice. I don't think there would be much new to talk about with Iron Flame from what I've heard.
Idk, she loves Fourth Wing but hates Warbreaker, that’s already a double red flag 😂 her taste just might be so bad that she hates Abercrombie, despite how brilliant his books are
@@DrunkenGyarados nah dude i also didnt like warbreaker but I loved the first law
These videos are hilarious you guys should do more
These videos are so great 😂. Here’s a petition for the next one ☝️
I understand why you picked warbreaker lol but they are right too. If they were up for reading something might as well pick something that was a 10/10 for you even if they end up don't liking it
if it was gonna be a sanderson book it shoudlve been mistborn final empire that book is so great especially for fantasy newcomers
Always fun to see what non-fantasy-hardcores think of fantasy books. Warbreaker clearly was an early Sanderson book and is pretty rough around the edges. He learned from this one and improved, but easy to see talent and promise starting to shine even in this one.
Red Rising, Jade City, Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett, or Dresden Files. Are my recommendations.
“Perfect life recognition? AGELESSNESS?!”
Those glossaries hit different the first time you realize they’re there. 😂
From Blood and Ash. I think Matt will ABSOLUTELY HATE IT. And diss it so bad I think it would be great
I see this series quickly devolving into:
1. Matt hates a book.
2. The girls tell Matt they hated a book just to get back at him for hating their book.
3. Repeat steps 1-2.
For me, Warbreaker was a 5/5 at the time I read it. Im inclined to think it would still be AROUND there. But one thing I will agree on is that the magic system is ok but as as always Sanderson creates a world around his magic so well that, for me, it almost didnt matter that the magic system was just sorta good.
I love the chaos is in these
I really prefer multi-pov books. I wonder if they should read Assassin's Apprentice? 🤷♀️ Something you *love,* that isn't multi-pov? Might work!
21:21 i like how she change her mind , one of the best things in a discussion/debate
I think they'd like The Blade Itself
Best Served Cold...... they will like it
YES! If they want blood let them have blood (and an amazing story)
Dark with spice Demon Cycle. Ruff stuff.
I love these so much. I would say throw First Blood or DCC their way.
Hi 👋 nice video with ur wife and friend happy reading to you!! 😊
Should have got them to read the blade itself lol.
Empire of the Vampire! Theyll love it! 😂
Adding this one to Watch Later as I'll be reading this soon and the last one of these was chaotic enough I'm afraid of getting spiled lmao.
I’m always fascinated how men and women interpret romance differently, especially in books.
They may enjoy jade city, suggest that for next time
Agreed or Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett
THE COVER. Normally i like the US Sanderson cover (sue me 😅) but i agree Warbreaker US cover is terrible!Warbreaker UK cover all the way!
I wonder if they’d like Empire of the Vampire! This was a lot of fun lol
Why not Mistborn?
I'm with Chrisy(?) on this one. Was a 2/5 for me, and I probably should have DNFd but was hoping the ending would save it
I was pretty disappointed with this book. I just finished it today and I’d give it 2.5 stars. Didn’t care about any of the characters and didn’t find them interesting (besides light song). Weakest of all the Sanderson I’ve read so far.
Im a huge sanderson fan, but i couldnt finish this one. So boring.
This is an absolutely fantastic video format
I must say I was surprised how much the book tube community seems to like Warbreaker, whereas I found it pretty 'meh'. Elantris was a much more enjoyable read for me.
I like a good old-fashioned love story where things fade to black. I don't understand why people even want to read about or (worse) watch people having sex.
This is the only Sanderson book that was a miss for me and I have read all his books except for the ones at the end of wheel of time. I felt like the end of the book left much to be desired and didn't really feel a connection to any of the main characters. I did find the magic system interesting using breath and color but I felt like Brent weeks had a better color based magic system.
If they think they can handle one of your favorite books that is dark I suggest "Eleventh cycle"
But don't blame me if your marriage ends because of that
You should give Marco a copy of Fourth Wing and see how much Marco loves it. Also, you should make them read Realm of the Elderlings next MWAHAHAHAHA.
Edit: also, why are there comments from over a day ago when this video was released about 11 hours ago.
I feel bad for Matt
Am I the only one who starts yelling at the screen when people reviewing a book can’t remember the names of the main characters? I’m normal and not unhinged right?
Call me crazy but would Jade City be a good fit for all 3 of you guys?
Yeah that's a great call. I'm going to have them read that next time it's their turn.
Prince of Nothing next, right?
I’ve only read two Sandon Brandersons, that’s what my wife calls him, Warbreaker being one, which took me 3 attempts to finish and Way of Kings being the other, which living in Florida and having been through several hurricanes, I have a real issue with this storm world and I have ranted on it elsewhere so I won’t waste your time, I am just not impressed and don’t see what others do. It’ll be a long time until I get back to Sandon.
Love this channel, but I'm wondering, too, why you would pick that book for the round when there would have been such great possibilities to introduce them to fantasy. Warbreaker is so mediocre and bloated and even you are only half convinced of it.
So is your friend single? I am 😅
Can someone help me out. At 12:10 there's an upcoming spoiler; Ive paused the video. I've only read warbreaker and the way of kings. Where in the video should I skip to skip spoilers? Will set on watch later list until someone replies. Thank you!
It's so vague that you cannot really be spoiled by it. Feel free to watch it.
Thanks, I think it's obvious based on what was said that they show up somewhere in archives but glad that no details were given, I hope nightblood doesn't give them away too quick once they are introduced on the pages over there, great video! Keep it up 👍 @@MattsFantasyBookReviews
