I miss the music in the mall. The scenery in central plaza changing every holiday and promo event. It was so great. I played it almost everyday for years! I remember reading an article by I think GameSpot with a developer saying Home was actually a commercial success. It never made sense to me as to why they closed Home other than they wanted to push people off the PS3 and push them to the PS4.
Nah, i think as a free 2 play game, they saw no points on keeping it up.
People would eventually stop buying the ingame items, and move on.
PS4 was launched, PS3 was old hardware, nobody bought items from Home anymore.
It died right there, for a reason.

PS Home was literally my life. I had social anxiety and depression early as a kid, so I went on here instead of going out and playing with kids, and made friends, gamer families, and sooo many memories. I miss this game SOOO much
I miss this game. I spent damn near $200 on it when I was a youngster. This game helped me grief the death of my father because so many nice people who literally made me feel like I was apart of their family.

I really wish I could go back and play all the games that were still popular (little big planet, Lego universe, minecraft, tf2 legend of Zelda wind waker etc)

Tristan Soramaki For those who got to play it including myself, feel grateful. Not all people did and many young people probably don’t know what it is...ps home was the best thing that ever happened for the ps3 console and for gamers.
Dang, I remember getting up everyday full of energy and just fully wasting it on PlayStation Home it was the best thing ever seeing the "gangs" walk around and the "crews" was so funny it sucks that it closed man:(
It sucks that is closed down, but it's also wonderful because while I was doing research, I saw a lot of these groups remained together on Forums, and some have become great friends to this day. It may return one day and we'll all have a big reunion celebration!
Rhexah I loved coming home from school just to play it. I loved the music the worlds and the fact that you were interacting with other people who made their avatars look like them. But the one thing that I miss the most most is when the shuttle trains passed by overhead in the hub and made that sound like hovering over. I sometimes play videos about the hub just to hear it. The memories are there. 😔

It was basically a poor man's Second Life, which predated Home by 5 years.
Before it's time lol? Seriously? worlds chat, active worlds, second life and 100s of more like it came out 10s of years before it. Only difference was it was on a console and not computer so nah not before it's time. That's why it got shut down

lets be honest the new generation of people wont be able to make a great ps home like that anyways, the people back then were so much different, even i changed. it would never make it up to the original, also there are already copies of pshome on ps4 called nebula and others, and they all suck.

I don’t think it ever went down hill. I remember before it was ended there were more and more players joining and everything had developed so much it was crazy!
Well according to a podcast who reviewed it in 2009, it was so bad that anything would be an improvement.
I used to play this game almost daily, I got to meet a lot of friends and had good memories! I'm a bit devastated that they decided to close it down...but it's been a good time!
I really miss the experience of exploring around those good house tho.
It still leaves the official answer as to why it was ever closed down internationally. Japans closure could have been attributed to Financial Reasons, but international is still a mystery to it's community. I'm glad you had wonderful experiences and maybe one day we'll see a revival, who knows?
i remember when i was 8 or 7 begging my parents to buy the 2.99 husky on the game because i loved dogs, i got it sometime later, but the nostalgia tho, its so strong.

Nebula Realms recreated Harbor Studio from Playstation Home, they are trying to recreate Home as best they can and is the best clone of Home on the market!

I hope Sony will revive it sometime...
Pretty sure what made Home close down was the amounts of hackers and modders that were purchasing jailbroken PS3's in order to freeze servers or act as an admin on public spaces, they would find ways around every patch, so I am guessing Sony decided to end Home because of that.

Lol I remember PS Home like it was yesterday. I spent most of my time at the Konami Penthouse and the SALT station. I loved this game so much, I made a bunch of friends through it. :)

Siren blood curse and sullys bar/ uncharted areas were my favorite. The ambiance in ps home was powerful. Absolutely miss it.
The amount of Free Shit I had on that Game Good Lord hundreds of clothing items And Furniture
The US version was one hell of a rollercoaster ride. I met so many unique people in Home, that I dont think id have as many friends as I do without it. We gained clan mates there, hung out at E3 every year, had good times at christmas during the events they had planned, had fun with Xi: continuum, got a chance to visit every single space, and had a blast playing with everyone. And I spent loads of cash on the game too.
I was there with my friends for the last few hours of Home. We played as much as we clould, but the servers were overloaded, and loading times were stupid long. I hated to see it go, but as with MAG(my first most played ps3 game), all online only games must come to an end.
I will say that I do still miss both Home, and MAG. Ive made lifelong friends thanks to both. And my clan still exists somehow thanks to that.

i meet people from england, argentina, mexico, chile, japan, australia, i meet all bunch of random and weird people, fun people, sad people, bitchi people, drama, adventures,roleplays sadly i had a lot more fun in there thn in real life lol, i just loved it, when it closed down i didnt really care maybe it was a good thing for my life lol, nice memories, will never forget 😀

SuppstaBe same. My friend recently did a outfit video for gta5 and the song she used was like a song that was in the mall or something and it brought back a flood of memories. I can’t believe psh is really gone and that it has been for some time. It feels like I was just playing it yesterday. 💔
i am devastated. i only played it for like 15-20 times but still it was so fun, all the activities and the communication i had with other people that had the exact same console as i did, just seeing every one and everything so lively and active. just going to your favorite game section and meet other people there, play some games and meet more people there aswell. i don't know what to say honestly, i'm just sad, the ps3 player base is slowly decreasing and i just miss those times
Just the other day, I was watching a GI Joe Retaliation Clip and remembered the Promotional Event and Outfits Playstation Home Provided. It really was an experience like no other!

This was by far the best thing Playstation ever created. It was just so absolutely beautiful and fun and amazing in every way. There was so many beautiful different environments and different worlds and mini games to play with very populated server's, there was always people everywhere. I'll definitely miss it very much.
I miss playstation home, as adisabled man I can't get out much and this was my get away. It was so immersive and I loved pimping out my home studio personal space, I bought so much stuff, properties. clothes, games. I even bought the Ghostbuster firehouse that was available.
Losing this is like losing a friend or freedom as cleche as that sounds I loved PSH. I even bought a virtual flat screen TV for films.
Anyone remember Crackle, a service that streamed movies to your virtual TV. I did everything in PSH. It was an escapism from the stress of real life for a while. Like you I only found out that PSH had gone in 2015 or so, I was gutted, angry because we all as players paid money for our virtual things and now we lost them.
I would like PSH to come back, looking back now it had so many faults with connectivity and load times were just a lifetime in themselves. But I loved it ans I sorely miss it.

I didn't play it much at all but it was fun for a bit - me and a friend made the most hideous creature in the character creator and just went around talking to people and we amassed quite a large following of people running around the main area!
I think it died due to the novelty just wearing off. I couldn't imagine playing it for years but then again I only saw a small part of it.
Playstation Home made way for Funny and Entertaining Moments like the one you mentions in the main area.
Hopefully one of the several alternatives can raise to that challenge and make it even better!

Nope. There was no novelty-where off, especially when people were buying new things in there daily, hanging out from morning to after midnight. Sony decided to cut it (after all the money they raked in) possibly due to server issues, cost, security issues the could have dealt with earlier.
I can remember the Dead island promotion, just wacking zombies with a stick to earn a t-shirt. ahh... the good old days:)

I remember playing this as a kid. This was the greatest thing ever. I was hanging out mostly on the Loco Roco Island and the LittleBigPlanet place because it was the most colorful places to my kid-self. I was young back when this was a thing, like around 5 or 6 and I couldn't understand *anything*. Pretty good thing and a great place to hang out.
I’m one of the original ps home glitchers. I would love getting attention meeting new people to play with by going around and finding secret glitching spots no one else had. I met my first love on ps home, we ended up playing games every night sometimes all day and see each other on ps eye everyday. So what was a disaster to some was my own love story. And set destiny ahead for where I am today. I miss it.

I loved playstation home and miss it. I met some wonderful people on the platform. Being on playstation home, buying all those wonderful personal spaces, at some point gave me the idea to travel the world in real life.
Playstation home was kind of a precursor. Had I not played playstation home and explored all those beautiful personal spaces I wouldnt have gotten the idea to travel in real life. So playstation home changed the course of how my life 'played' out.
I was only 7 when I was introduced to this lmao
PS Home was one of the first games I played on my family's PS3. I spent so much time at the Namco Arcade Center because I'm a huge nerd for 80s Namco arcade titles. I remember dressing my character with a Woody from Toy Story hat and a Pac-Man shirts with the PS Home logo that was unlocked if you owned the full version of Namco Museum Essentials.
2:12 that is the most 2000s character ever lol, a white man with a doorag?! wtf haha
I remember being apart of the top 60 players in Peakvox Ninja, and how many other lobbies were available to go through and collect so much free clothing & furniture, to the point where they held events that would cross multiple lobbies as objectives to collect content that was a free limited-time items. There was a tank game, the mall, a lobby where fireworks would go off at night consistently, and allowed you so many personal rooms. I miss this game, and I hope they'll eventually bring this back.

Collecting the Golden AK in the socom map & playing the knife game. The uncharted map. The Clubs. The arcades. The different plazas from different regions. The holiday themes. The racing mini games. The chatting and dancing with strangers. And sooo much more
i think it never when downhill, sony just closed it to be dicks, i remember on the last year home had the best quality animations, products, VIP clubs, sponsors, adds a lot of users, fams gangs, emo kids, fake girls, role players, gamers, drama, romance, trolls and shit

I actually enjoyed the advertising aspect of it. It was nice being able to go to Pottermore, Star Wars cantina etc... Just enjoy different themed places.
I loved it and used it often.
It was just a good thing to use when you wanted to relax and play some mini games with Smalltalk.

It closed b/c it was outdated code, old console, and very low population lol. It wasn't making nearly enough money for Sony to justify keeping the servers online.
