A very special voice, there's child-like & dreamy quality to it that I found very appealing. I think for this aria a soft edge voice like his is much more suitable. Most tenors push or literally scream through this aria
bravo!!! wonderful !!! I have heard perfect H-E♭and a moment of H-F too . He is superman of singer . Rossini's aria is for Matteuzzi .
Very unique voice, with a technique Rossini would surely have approved of. Pure Leggiero Tenor's with a ringing upper extension are a very rare and precious jewel indeed..
@Andrew Grenon Nope. Listen to Kraus, Valletta, Schipa, Merritt and Ariana. That is how a leggero tenor should sound like. Not constricted, not nasal, not woofy, etc.
The high notes did nothing to enhance his artistry. As a matter of fact they seemed inappropriate at times. He seemed unsure about his melisma and several times they were sloppy. This aria exposes any faults that one may have. Was this impressive ? Anyone who can sing this aria and survive is worthy of praise, as Matteuzzi is, but I've heard better delivered, sans all the bells and whistles. One delivery that came to mind was a performance by Douglas Ahlstedt with Marilyn Horne in the mid to late '80's. Fortunately it was a Live from the Met Broadcast and I did tape it.
I think the high note are unnecessary. He is, of course, a virtuoso and great artist. I personally don't like the tenor voice above a High D. I prefer Lawrence Brownlee, then Florez in Rossini these roles, but that's just my humble preference. I have the greatest admiration for any tenor that can sing this repertoire with such confidence, and Mateuzzi is a wonderful tenor in this repertoire.
So underrated....glorious singing and good acting skills.
The best singer ever for this song

The King of the High F's. Mateuzzi really has a fantastic technique.

So beautiful!!! 💛💛💛
"Che provar possa un cor", basta per decretarne un grandissimo

+アカペラの帝王 but i think his voice is thin
So beautiful!
Such amazing singer. Why are there so few of his recordings available? So infuriating!

Nope. He is not a pure leggiero. He is a mosquito.

A real gem.
Great in his repertoire!

@albertogrilo Boa tarde, já escrevi o resto do elenco.
Nope. They're people who know what real opera sounds like.
@@xxsaruman82xx87 Grazie. Parole sante.
Obrigado
@baritono1975 Obrigado
: )
For me he is a light lyric tenor not leggero
Don't think so. Pavarotti was a light-lyric tenor (even if he sang spinto roles)
@@Davanzo_DieGolI wonder why Pavarotti did never sing leggero repertoire!?

So nasal. So very nasal.
