Wow! This is his best interpretation of this challenging early Mozart aria. This could not be better (it is perfect, IMO), but Spyres never stops to amaze me, so let's wait.

As much as I respect the Maestro, Mozart, I think he had a deep, internal, boiling hatred for tenors as evidenced by this piece. It is so impossible, difficult and heinously at the limit of vocal range. I have never heard anything as beautiful and so expertly done in my life!
"Baritenor (or its Italian form, baritenore) is still used today to describe a type of tenor voice which came to particular prominence in Rossini's operas. It is characterized by a dark, weighty lower octave and a ringing upper one but with sufficient agility for coloratura singing. Rossini used this type of voice to portray noble (and usually older), leading characters, often in contrast to the higher, lighter voices of the tenore di grazia or the tenore contraltino who portrayed the young, impetuous lovers."
I'm sure you're aware of this, but wanted to share for others!
Seems that Mozart wrote for this voice, probably out of the Baroque tradition, but then abandoned it in his subsequent operas. Then I guess Rossini picked it back up again!

What an amazing tenor! This performance is second only to Bruce Ford's! One of the hardest arias for tenor ever composed.
This is a star performance. I’ve noted some fairly negative comments in various postings of his videos (not this one) that I don’t understand. Either my knowledge and experience of operatic arias over the past 40 years is a bit wonky, or others may just take delight in being negative for its own sake.
Among other things, I have heard Spyres sing Handel and now Mozart. Dazzling technique and exceptional energy. The greatest living male classical singer. I think about Jussi Bjorling when he sings.

Veces se siente o percibe una orquesta y una magnífica dirección por este nuevo director del magnífico grupo il pomo d'oro que lleva años grabando con los mejores artistas enhorabuena a Francesco Corti que se se siente como extraordinario y sensible director y a todos los miembros tan sobresalientes de la orquesta, vaya talento creativo el de ambos.
Bueno y ahora me toca hablar de ese monstruo"vocal " que sorprende a todos con su inusual falsete, vaya mandíbula ( que más quisieran muchos saberlo utilizar).

No creo exagerar cuando digo q al escucharlo, su habilidad y perfección vocal me hace llorar! Él es el nuevo rey!
Sin dudas que la mejor mezcla es el tenor asi suave no tan agresivo como el tradicional tenor que siempre esta con el volumen al 100.. La mezcla melodia entre falsete y baja potencia, solo cuando se requiere.
