- This is a spare room that was converted into a Canary room. There are four cages, each 7 ½'. I combined three 2 ½' flight cages and attached them with cable ties to make one long cage that enables the canaries to fly a bit. At one time I had 3 cages combined for a 22 ½' cage that housed all the canaries. They kept fighting and one female was killed. A hard lesson to learn. I immediately separated them into what they are in now.
I'm thinking of trading all but my Red Factor for some finches that can be housed together. I'm not sure yet... I would have to make absolutely sure that they would go to an experienced owner with the same type of set up they are used to now or better.

the cages were purchased from the Bird store here in Orlando and from a local bird show that comes around every three months or so. They are flight cages, three of them combined to make one long flight cage.
now, those are proper habitats for canaries!

I just love this little creatures and I love to see people taking good care of them even if is as a source of income why they have them . I can tell that you really care for your babies . I believe your birds are very happy to have such large and long cages to fly in. I just love the decorations with the green. It does look really beautiful and gives the birds a nice environment. Good luck with your canaries!

The lighting is a 4’ florescent fixture that I purchased from Lowe’s… Home Depot has them as well. They come with two light fixtures. They were around $25.00 ea. I purchased the lights from Lowe’s as well. The lights cost around $10.00 for 2. They are the Day Light type.

I purchased most of the perches from PetSmart and some from a Bird Show here in Orlando that comes around every 4 months or so. PetSmart sells them for about $4.00 - 7.00 U.S. currency... they are cheaper at the Bird Shows.

Mike and I had an aviary at one of our homes off the courtyard. We too used all natural limbs and in fact had found a dead hardwood tree at our local nursery which disinfected at a local nursery which we cemented into a plant pot for one corner. We had at one time 12 beautiful "sherbets" . In fact, "Lemon Drop" was tossed out with the shell and I held him in my hand when he wiggled and "survived"...incredible experience. Now that we have reduced our home to a 2/2 with a lanai, we are down to 3 males in a flight cage but would love to reconfigure our lanai with glass/AC etc so that we too can have "our aviary" back. Thank you for the inspiration as we "love, love, love our canaries". All birds actually, our wild ones are lovely creatures also.
Question: We assume that the plastic plants are on the exterior of the flight cages? Secondly, out of our three (males)...Bunson, Honeydew, and Beaker...they choose NOT to sing but simply to chirp in spite of all the training CD's daily. We/re both guessing...we need to reproduce your set-up and get a few females divided from our males.

Saya tertarik nonton. Krn jadi rindu melihat gambaran suasana zmn tsb. Kngn dg zmn yg lebih sederhana, lebih tulus, natural, polos, di diri masyarakat luas. Sehingga lebih indah, calm dll. Lebih damai bre. Hiasi alam pikiran, jiwa dll dalam keseharian. Dalam love dll.

You can definitely put canaries with finches or others type of canary. Just look for the less aggressive those will make great pets. Cheers! Have fun. & Thanks

No, they are face plants purchased at a craft store.

@timelove1000 I purcashed the green fake plants from a craft store here in Orlando called Micheals. They are vines that I attached to the outside back of the cage. Any craft store should have them and most likely the big box stores in their craft dept.

@REALBIRDS CANARIES - If you notice I have paper at the bottom of each tray, at the far ends of each cage, where they spend most of their time, I have paper stacked on top of the grids. Each morning I just remove the top paper and finished… easy as that. I disinfect the trays and bottom of the cage with warm water and soap on Sundays.

I understand it’s a very old video, but if you see this, can you please tell me if the canaries ever nibble at the fake plants?
The birds do try nibbling on the fake plants but they aren't strong enough to ever do any damage. After a while they simple stop trying. I have never had any of them tear one. Yes, this is any old video, and the birds I have now are offspring to these birds in the video.

I just have one male canary but I want to make him a huge cage so badly! Just trying to figure out *where* in my TINY place I'm going to put it without dealing with air conditioning drafts in the summer and furnace drafts in the long, bitterly cold winners...there's constant air movement in here.

I used wire cutters/snippers to snap the side walls out. After that I zip tie them.
What brand of flight cages do you have to combine? I cant seem to locate them anywhere.

You can use cotton string, burlap or horse hair, all work well.

I had canary with by boy Alex some time ago then the male was beside the dad whom was a singer
So he learned from dad, they have you tube traning singing, internationale if short of a good singer
So the male with no nest, is sad so if he's learn singing and then bred sell the breed maybe in home made cages so you sure they get space enough,

Where can I purchase the correct diameter canary branch perches?
Pet Smart or PetCo have different sizes. You want various sizes so the birds can exercise there feet. I have gone outside and cut branches from trees in my back yard. Just make to place them in a microware for about 3/4 minutes. That will kill an pathogens.
