Excellent catch! I caught a 765 pound Marlin while deep sea fishing in Hawaii and it took 3 hours. Props to these guys. And to the guy under me, its good money if its a trophy fish but the 765 lb Marlin i caught ended up being worth like 150 dollars because all its good for is making dog and cat food
Sorry, i'm new to salt water fishing but after you pull them to the side, did you tag them with something special. I'm sure y'all don't catch them, because I see you release it. How do you know how big or heavy is it?
If the guys from Nomad call it for 1000lb, I will believe them. They are one of the best charter boats in Australia. And it sure looks a hell of alot bigger than 500lb.
It's really cool, but I don't understand how a simple fishing pole and some fishing line can reel in a 1000-pound fish. Why don't the pole and line break?
They were on 50lb test, you have to back down on a size of fish like that with that line, otherwise it would've snapped 10 seconds into it. I think a crew who can bring a 1000lb marlin to the surface on that line are pretty good anglers.
@edanmano I really like the fact that they didn't drag that awesome creature onto the boat. We have so few monster fish like that one left we need to do whatever we can to ensure it's survival. Dragging a huge fish like a 1000 lb marlin onto a small boat (or any boat) would no doubt do damage to the fish. Cut the leader and pat yourself on the back for thinking of the next generation of fisherman.
@edanmano Yeah your right. Kayaking fishing thts insane im nt much of a fisher myself, only ever realy strugled with carp when i was younger, carnt imagin a Malin or sailfish. Nice one m8
@GradyWhite2007 You obviously don't fish that much. 50lb gear is considered stand up, so the maximum drag pressure you will handle is 25lb of drag. It's when you start using full drag on 80 and 130 where you need to start using a chair. And if you don't grab the leader, then how will you get your gaff/tag shot?? Even with wind on leaders, you need to pull the fish the last few yards by hand.
Wow this is great, guys! I caught a marlin on my most recent fishing trip but it was no where near this size. They are amazing creatures...great props to some great anglers! And on 50lb test?!? That takes skill there; I wish people that had no idea what they're talking about would just keep their mouths shut instead of opening them and looking like a complete fool (mrlamabamaman) :)
@mrlamabamaman They always back the boat up in OZ, no fun in that, the fish are still green when they get it near the boat and are extremely dangerous.
@mrlamabamaman backing up the boat saves the fish from complete fatigue, fish faught all the way will usually not survive release, where as fish caught in this manner have a far better chance of survival. Releasing a fish dose not mean it will live.
@FlashDAH not really bro a mature marlin is way stronger than a shark you are looking at the most aggressive fish in the sea!! its a beast and yes i have caught one of these but only a 100 pounder from a boat btw i know some guys that go kayak fishing and get towed with the kayak and the equipment by a marlin for 20 miles thats how strong this fish is
With all my respect, I'm not sure this Marlin is around 1000 lbs... Indeed, my father caught one of 1118 lbs in Ivory Coast , with an 80 lbs outfit, and the IGFA registered him. It is still a record. His marlin was really really bigger than this one, more than 5.45 meters of length. So in my opinion, this one should be around 700 or 750 lbs. However the video is nice.
How do you accurately claim this is a grander? That would mean more than 5 times the size/weight of most of the persons on board. I would argue a good 700lb and not much more.
ocean fishing is cool. but the closest i've gotten to a sea fish is a king salmon. Biggest I've cought is a 6 pound large mouth bass nothing close to that
put @Nomadsportfishing so that the video author could see your comment straight in their inbox. Hope I helped for future reference. Good luck with your video!
Estimate weight 600 to 700 lbs a grander is way bigger than that I've seen grander in the water before they look massive ! But that's a great fishy story lmao .
+Roque Tayaba Jr I agree. I used to be a professional sportfishing mate and I've personally seen two 1000 lb. blue marlin (1,068 & 1,242) in my lifetime and this fish is no grander. It's a nice fish no doubt and that angler should be proud of himself, but it's a big stretch to say this fish was at least 1000 lbs.
Roque Tayaba Jr I didn't realize you were Hawaiian, much respect my man, much respect. You guys see grander blues more than anybody. In fact Hawaiians wrote the book on fishing for and catching giant billfish, especially on lures. When I was still a professional mate I did all of my fishing out of the Outer Banks of North Carolina which still ranks as the best place to catch blue marlin in mainland US. I've personally released about 15 blues in the 600 to 700 lb. range and I definitely agree with you that this fish was 650 to 750 at the most.
+tbone2872 much respect to you too,you know fishing and man it's fun to catch marlin but not that easy if you fighting a tough one. Yap, you know the truth so I'm glad you responded, much Mahalos and Aloha my friend !!!
the ignorance of some people is amazing. Great release of a beautiful fish. Congrats mates!
Nice catch!!!!!!!! Much bigger than the biggest marlin ive caught in the keys!
WOW! What fish!
Amazing.
Great catches! Thanks for being responsible and releasing the fish!

Sick Wire Work for that Greyhound Action ... Solid Fish ( a Grander??)
Great Work Guys...
If the guys from Nomad call it for 1000lb, I will believe them. They are one of the best charter boats in Australia. And it sure looks a hell of alot bigger than 500lb.
Just wondering, Do you eat your catch?? or kiss and return?! .....
It's really cool, but I don't understand how a simple fishing pole and some fishing line can reel in a 1000-pound fish. Why don't the pole and line break?
@73fishy 1000lbs is only 453kg, and that fish is about 3-4m long. sharks that long are about 500kg, so that fish probably is around 1000lb
Sweet catch
So wait, what happened? Did they just cut it loose? Is that fish now just swimming around with a giant hook in its mouth?
They were on 50lb test, you have to back down on a size of fish like that with that line, otherwise it would've snapped 10 seconds into it. I think a crew who can bring a 1000lb marlin to the surface on that line are pretty good anglers.
how long were you guys fighting it
@edanmano

It's like the game "Fishing master" that I played on the Wii. I got an Marlin 2,93metres long, 998pounds weight. But this is really cool.
I don't care about the 1000LB debate, but at 2.20 certainly something seeing a fish that big jump.
this gets me in the mood for watchin jaws lol
that shit moved like a dam dolphine
How do you get something like that on the boat
@edanmano Yeah your right. Kayaking fishing thts insane im nt much of a fisher myself, only ever realy strugled with carp when i was younger, carnt imagin a Malin or sailfish. Nice one m8
Were the hell was the caught fish on the Video?
this are a big fish
AWESOME!!!!!!
The "short length" would have to be roughly 11.5-12ft for it to be a legitimate grander. This fish isn't close to that size.
was it pulling the boat???
which bait would u recommend for marlinb and srtipers?
you should be the Australian's Anglers President.
@GradyWhite2007 You obviously don't fish that much. 50lb gear is considered stand up, so the maximum drag pressure you will handle is 25lb of drag. Black marlin I guess...
was told that 50% of "catch and released "(exhausted) marlins get caught/ eaten by sharks...?
better release and catch?
fish doesnt stop moving. rather than have to reel in 1,000 yards of line they reverse the boat till the fish wears out.
AT WHAT TEMPERATURE DOES ONE BAKE A BOAT?
good job and very good skyper !
amazing
how long diid you fight?
what did u use for bait?
What happened to fish?
did yu return it or kill it?
thats our dad!!! we are canadian FYI!!!!! peace and love eh!
money went for fishing. how mach cost it?
Did he catch it
was that pulling the boat?!?!?
Great thanks

so you think that fish only weight about 225kg?.. 1000pounds is around 450kg which i think sounds fair for that fish!
@Youngmula367 i recommend the trolljace.jpg lures, they attract both marlins and trollfish.
could't stop looking at the mulla corner
very cool
big fish well done old timer
@mrlamabamaman They always back the boat up in OZ, no fun in that, the fish are still green when they get it near the boat and are extremely dangerous.
dude what are you talking about every year at our marlin tourney they always grab the lines with their hands
HELLYA ! nice !
how do you guys know how much it weights
@edanmano I couldnt imagin catching something so huge and powerful its n the same level as a shark! Amazing
Obviously Morde is just a 1000lb marlin in disguise.
The best of the best un fish, thank's (algo bien)
Big fish, we have a great monster Blue Marlin video and check out the World Record UK shark caught off our boat on our channel homepage!

1100 Pound Black Marlin - Formula 1 Game Fishing - Epic.
TURN IT UP and SHARE
If I was a marlin on a fishing line I would jump on the boat and take as much people as I could
@mrlamabamaman backing up the boat saves the fish from complete fatigue, fish faught all the way will usually not survive release, where as fish caught in this manner have a far better chance of survival. Releasing a fish dose not mean it will live.
@FlashDAH
not really bro
a mature marlin is way stronger than a shark

its a beast
and yes i have caught one of these
but only a 100 pounder from a boat
btw i know some guys that go kayak fishing and get towed with the kayak and the equipment by a marlin for 20 miles thats how strong this fish is
@Blazureokami "Extremely rare"? What about the fishermen who do it as a job and sell the fish?
y so pumped? where is the fish?
cause they move around the boat and if it rubs on the boat the line will cut
With all my respect, I'm not sure this Marlin is around 1000 lbs...

That would mean more than 5 times the size/weight of most of the persons on board.
I would argue a good 700lb and not much more.

Estimate weight 600 to 700 lbs a grander is way bigger than that I've seen grander in the water before they look massive ! But that's a great fishy story lmao .
