Same for me. Once I found their “I’m not okay” song, I’ve been mesmerized by their lyrics and I’ve never heard any artist that have been as brutally genuine about the mental health experience.
So true tho the only band that comes even close to Citizen Soldier is Linkin Park in terms of talking about mental health. Citizen Soldier and Linkin Park are my go tos when I'm in a bad place and looking for someone to relate to.

Your song irreplaceable, through hell, still breathing, these three songs as well as all of your songs have actually been along with my faith that has kept me going even when I feel like I can’t anymore. I have been in therapy for a couple months now I have always been afraid of going to therapy because of the fear of being labeled or something like that but actually after I get done with my session, I feel at peace, at least for a while until the memories and flashbacks in my head come back. I am most likely going to be diagnosed with PTSD. I honestly don’t know how to feel or what to do next when they do do you have any suggestions I’m afraid when they tell me that I have PTSD I will go down the rabbit hole. 12:58 P.M.

This hits so hard when even the hospital says you're too broken to fix. I told the hospital that id rather die than get better because there is no better for me. I was only in the hospital so my family wouldn't have to grieve. They told me there was no point in helping me. I can't describe how broken you feel when the hospital says that. Your music is always amazing

It takes a lot of courage to reach down inside yourself, hold on to that strength and know that tomorrow is a new day with new possibilities. But if you can just hold on long enough to see this through and trust that you can survive this; you'll come out a new person, stronger and as long as you don't give up and keep pushing forward, no matter how hopeless things seem, you WILL make it.

It HURTS! because as a child I was so unstable and abusive to my siblings and yell and scream at my parents. 98% I couldn't control myself but the other 2% I was in control yet I was still pushing their buttons. I know it's not my fault anymore but the guilt I feel is still damn fresh and raw

I am 100% convinced this is completely and irrevocably true for me and literally no one else. I've been in and out of mental institutions and hospitals, and I've still never met anyone I felt was truly like this but me. I literally think I'm the only one in the entire world that is like what I am. What a horrible, terrible thing to bear.

Ever since I discovered you guys, there is hope for all fighting depression and stress everyday, I love the way this expresses all that
Yup. So hard feeling that way. I hate when people say it gets better or that they know how you feel when they really don’t bc even if they’ve gone through the same thing, we’re all different. Their body is different than my body... Our trauma responses are different... So no, you can’t truly understand how I fell. But of course, I appreciate the sentiment. It shows that they care and are trying to help. That part is lovely. Just sucks feeling alone even though you’re not, y’know?
Even support groups don’t really help... I should know, I’ve been in many... Of course as I said, it may help many others but not everyone which is unfortunate... Years of therapy, programs for mental health (including DBT which stands for Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which I’m sure you’ve heard of, Jake). Sadly it hasn’t done much either... Tried it several times over the years for my Borderline Personality Disorder and honestly the most therapy has done for me is just keep me alive... Well, therapy and a few other things but yeah. It has helped to a certain extent and taught me things that I love to help others with, but it’s so difficult to truly help myself which I know is super common...

I know there’s a good amount but they’re so hard to come by, especially in person... Then to keep them in your life is even harder...esp when you have BPD like me... Relationships of all kinds aren’t easy at all when you have this disorder...
