    Remember everyone to buy the license and support this awesome DAW

    • @spproplus

      A good reminder indeed.
      I've purchased mine a few years ago (after using the ''demo'' mode for a ''while''), and even tho there are updates so often, the increments are small, making a paid license last so long before having to pay again. I actually can't wait to pay my renewal for another hundred of new updates. M. Frankel must be eating cardboard for dinner. A big thank you from the bottom of my heart to you M. Justin Frankel for bringing this amazing DAW into our lives. Reaper is gaining popularity more and more. Let's make world domination our goal :)
      Also, lets not forget the sws-extension (.org).

    Thanks Kenny. Also... 1. Double-click the horizontal scroll bar to zoom to the whole project. 2. Double-click the vertical scroll bar to toggle height of all tracks between minimised,
    normal and maximised. 3. Double-click the scroll bars in the MIDI editor window to zoom right out.

    Another essential "zoom" tip: Shift + up/down arrow keys to globally change the size of all item wave forms, without affecting their volume.

    • @NickHope
      @NickHope 4 года назад +2

      Nice, but I feel there should be some indication that we have done this, so we don't forget (or do it inadvertently) and think our audio is louder than it really is, especially as that zoom level is saved in the project. I can imagine this has confused some people over the years.

      Yes, is there a shortcut to get the wave forms back to the original after we enlarge them?

    This was one of the most useful of Kenny's videos for me so far. Navigating and zooming around effortlessly in a DAW is priceless, and this helps a ton.
    Setting a keystroke for reverting to previous zoom level was life changing!!

  • @LeeGrey
    @LeeGrey 4 года назад

    Yes! Thank you! I've watched tons of your videos over the last couple of weeks, but going back to the basics to watch this was so useful! The more I use reaper the more I realise that its ability to be customised is one of its greatest strengths. If something doesn't quite behave the way you'd like, it always seems to be possible to change it. Those zoom to cursor option tips are priceless time savers. Thanks again for all your videos, they are an amazing resource.

    Thanks so much, Kenny. I demoed reaper almost a decade ago and didn't stick with it because the zoom feature was not what I was used to. I finally purchased Reaper last night and your tutorials are a life saver.

    I was mainly a Cubase user, I've used Reaper for editing and recording sometimes, but nothing really serious. The more I know Reaper, the more I realize how good it is.
    Thanks Kenny!

    If anybody wants to set zoom or scroll to Alt + Mousewheel, you will find that after zooming this way, mouse wheel does not work until you click somewhere. That's uncle Microsoft saying you "Hello, MOFO!". To solve this, go to Reaper settings -> General -> Keyboard, and check "Prevent Alt from focusing main menu". Now you can use Alt + Mousewheel as you please.

      Wow! Been using Autohotkey to fix this. Probably gonna stick with it because other programs don't have this checkbox in the settings and AHK covers them all.

    Excellent video Kenny, thank you for providing all this great info. I have the same issue as Quail Studios Guitar. I have been using Reaper for sometime on a MacAir and just now transferred over to my new iMac. When I revert back to the MacAir zooming works perfectly. It is only happening on the iMac. Suggestions/Videos etc greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    When I use the mouse wheel, Reaper zooms in steps rather than smoothly. It looks nothing like this and is quite jarring - not good for fine tuning of zoom at all. It's not that I have a crappy computer either, it's quite powerful and zooming is smooth as butter in other DAW's. Where am I going wrong?

  • @meeeemeeeem
    @meeeemeeeem 2 года назад

    fyi command and page down (zoom out entire project) will not work if you have shortcuts for different "workspaces" on mac. I just changed the shortcut in actions though.

    It should be noted that oddly enough, the " ! " shortcut you speak about at 6:39 is by default assigned to 2 different actions!? (I didn't even think that was possible?): the zoom function you speak about AND the 'Go to Marker #8" action!
    I realised it because i couldn't get it to work in v5.28 and checked the action list. Were you maybe using an earlier version of Reaper when you made this video? Anybody else can confirm this problem?

    Great video Kenny. Wouldn't it be nice if Justin and team would enable the Marquee as an edit tool as well? It's showing for zooming but it would be nice if reaper users could switch to the Marquee as an edit tool like known from other DAWs for editing.

  • @xaosnox

    Thank you so much for this! Sometimes it drives me nuts that I don't have this down yet. Comes from too much switching back and forth between DAWs, but I think Logic is now gone for good. One thing I can't find is where to change the trackpad scrolling zooming modifiers. For instance, I want to change vertical zooming from shift+cmd+scroll up or down to just command or option, depending on what's already using the modifier. I've searched all through the Mouse Modifiers prefs (all prefs, actually) and can't find that anywhere. Is it maybe a SWS action? Just don't see scrolling as an option in many or maybe even any of the mouse modifiers. Have right click, left click, drag, right drag and middle mouse click, depending on which area of the prefs you're in. Seems like they should all be available everywhere.

    Kenny I’m stumped. Some of my volume faders have two think bouncing bars (visually) and some have thinner bars (visually). What do I have going on?

    • @Melvin7727
      @Melvin7727 4 года назад

      Warm Needles
      Two bouncing bars should mean for the stereo left/right channels, one bar for each side. Multiple thinner ones could mean if you have even more channels, like if you used the pin connector feature of the sends.

    Amazing tips! what is the action or command to get peak display increase / decrease (waveform size or whatever is named) for all tracks as well individually? Shift+up/down arrow is NOT working here (Reaper 6.05)

    • @Melvin7727
      @Melvin7727 4 года назад

      Carlos Eduardo Arellano
      That should be the action. It works for me. Sorry you're having trouble. Did you try pulling up the action list, clicking the "find shortcut" button, and then hitting "shift + up arrow key" to see what it says that key command does for you?

    • @carlosjazzpick
      @carlosjazzpick 4 года назад

      @@Melvin7727 Thanks, I already checked and another action had replaced the shortcut, maybe some script or accidentally. Working fine now.
