I kinda miss the old station tones whenever there was an alert. They kinda faded out in the 2000's.

If I remember correctly, lots of flooding/severe t'storms closed the schools early. This was from what was left from Hurricane Ivan.

This was one of the worst days of my life. It’s so crazy that I found this. My house was on mineral springs road. My mom, brother and I were at home when my dad called from work and said “there’s a tornado on ellisboro road” we immediately went into the center of the house (bathroom) and no sooner than we sat down I could hear it coming. It deafening loud. It was unfortunately a direct hit. Since this was during a hurricane there was water pouring down the walls in just a matter of minutes. We had a step down kitchen and there was 3 inches of water in the floor by that night. How it was that much, I don’t know. My dad had to gut every room in the house except two. Everything in the house had to be replaced. Floors, Sheetrock, insulation, furniture, windows, wiring, literally everything… which was a lot because the house was about 2500 square ft and 4br. Thankfully we had a great support system and had a lot of help on the weekends from friends and family. The only thing my dad hired someone to do was the roofing. A tree fell on our camper, cutting it in half. So we had to buy a new one and we lived there until the following March when the house was finished.

It's common that tropical systems form tornadoes after landfall. The north to northeast part of the storm usually produces the most tornadoes.

Watched in September 2014, and it's over 10 years having the same EAS sound effects since the late 1990s. There are still those 3 buzzes for 2014 EAS, and maybe still it'll be the same for 2015! Almost 18 years of having the same sound effects! :O

I was 9. It hit my house in Madison and me, my brother and mom were inside. My dad called from work and said there’s a tornado on ellisboro road. Our house was on mineral springs. She hung up and we went in the bathroom, and I’ll never forget how as soon as se went in there we could hear it coming. It ripped the roof off and since it was during a hurricane, by the end of the day we had standing water in the floor and pouring down every wall. The insurance screwed us over and we only got $18,000 for a 2,500 square foot 4 bedroom house. It costed my dad almost $60,000 to fix the place and he did all of the work himself besides the roof. He and our family and friends worked every Saturday for six months and we finally moved back in mid March 2005. We lived in a camper during this time.

@sammy122576 The counties that had the tornado warning weren't on the school closings list, so they probably made the students there take cover like you. All the other counties probably let out early so that they wouldn't have to do the same thing when it got to those areas.
