  • This is one of my top three spots to visit in St. Louis. If you have an hour ( or even 30 minutes ) drop by the St Louis Cathedral and see one of the largest collections of mosaics in the world. The art and architecture make this a must see building. Also a great spot for a bit of quite reflection.

    My story so far........
    Bouncing around North America and Asia, I've never lived anywhere too long. I found my calling as a teacher and ended up staying in Korea and China for many years. While I've had the chance to explore Europe, places I consider home are Washington DC, Seoul, Beijing, Memphis, and Columbus. After 20 years of exploring, I'm ready to share my adventures and wanderlust. The road ahead is never a straight line, but a path that zigs and zags, leading you to amazing places, people, and experiences you could never imagine. Be flexible and open minded, embracing the uncertainty of life and letting the current whisk you away........

    Beautiful vid. TY. I lived in a high rise a block away and this was my Sunday mass church when I lived in St. Louis from 1983 to 2005. The interior rivals cathedrals in Europe. A must see if in STL. Thank you for uploading this CBE

    I tend to prefer natural beauty to man made, but this place is truly a testament to the most exquisite work of man and faith. Even the agnostic should visit and throw a few bucks in the pot for maintenance.

    What a beautiful church. It is a testament to what man can do in the glory of Our Lord God. We need to return to God and worship Him. He is the Lord of the Universe. This Basilica is a manifestation of this!

      What if you don't believe in your God or believe in others? You sound like you're repeating a program.

      @@jelsig6783and what program do you expectorate in your response? There is only one God, so we may have different manifestations of our interpretations and beliefs, but there is only one God. He created you and gave you life. Or perhaps you are the incarnation of Koko the Gorilla?

      I don't believve it was. I only visited 1 time and was really impressed with the architecture. I think it was built around 1914 as a Catholic church.

    • @geneprokopf1578

      It was built as a replacement for the Old St. Louis Cathedral, which is located on national park land in the shadow of the Gateway Arch along the Mississippi River. Its architecture is romanesque (big and blocky) as opposed to the gothic architecture most often associated with Catholic Cathedrals (think Notre Dame, with its pointed arches, spires and flying buttresses). This is a VERY impressive building, well worth a visit. And finally, no, it was never a mosque.

      No, and if you think that I assume it’s because of the domes and Byzantine style, a style which the Muslims, especially the Ottomans stole from the Byzantines

    • @umairjafri5630
      @umairjafri5630 3 года назад

      @@Orthodoge and now the Church stole it from the Muslims. It’s a terrible analogy that Muslims stole it. I suggest Google the history of dome. You can also say Muslims stole the headscarf 🧕 of Mary. Where only less than 1% of the Christians wear headscarfs, while it was a part of Mary’s attire. Why play the blame game. Grow a beard like Jesus and let women wear headscarves like Mary. We Muslims follow Jesus and Mary better than so called Christians today. Sorry to say that bud!
