Chiles statement can be spun in many ways. Chiles was saying he wasn’t going to let disgruntled fans affect his game and wanting and working to win. Put it in context. Give him credit - he honestly answered the questions. He is determined to be a winner and being on a culture of players who want a winning team.
@@hemanths2230that’s the part that makes it a little better for me. I didn’t know he was a west coast guy right away and was upset about a lateral move. I get it now
Chiles also said...(before the season started) he was the best qb in the big ten. Take the the over... I know he's young. Needs thicker skin and to be held accountable. Hopefully he learns and matures.
Matt, Michigan fan here. I appreciate what you’re doing here. You have a great sense of humor about things when they’re not going so well. Remember, these things are cyclical. As fast as things can descend, things can ascend. Keep up the good work! You have hockey and bball going well over there! On another note, are you getting a little thin up top? It’s not the end of the world pal….there’s other more important things to worry about in life. Embrace it! Just shave it and grow a beard! Carry on young man!
Not only because it’s MSU, But ur the funniest “locked on” podcaster out of all of them and I’ve watched hundreds There’s all NPCS, appreciate ur content
This team should was weak from the start. I was never high on Chiles and with an offensive line that was weak to begin with and a defense that was weakened by injury. I think 5 wins was 1 more than I thought they would win.
Damn I love MSU Football....But this is freaking horrible...Thank you Matt for always keeping it real and not sugarcoating the truth... Aiden Chiles needs to focus on getting better and not fans...If he feels like that about teammates he needs to set the example and lead which I know is hard for a underclassman but he's the QB
So I had to review Chiles' stats in 2024 to see if there was anything showing improvement. And there is no clear line of improvement. His stats are all over the place. For instance, against Indiana, OSU and Oregon, he actually had a better completion rate than against Rutgers, Purdue and Illinois. The last 2 games against Rutgers/Purdue he had his lowest yards passing outside of the Oregon game and FAU where he played a half. And arguably his very best game, ignoring INTs, was the 2nd game of the season against Maryland, where he passed for by far the most yards, 365 yards and his most completions 24. Comparing the 2nd game to the last 2 games, he went BACKWARD.
This one hurts. I was more excited for coach meat to join the staff than any transfer or recruit we got the biggest weakness on our team was patched up now the wound is back open
Chiles absolutely did NOT improve. Did he stop throwing INTs? yeah. Why? Because he had 15 fewer passing attempts. Chiles in the 2nd game against Maryland looked better than the last two games of the season. At Maryland he had 24 completions. Against Purdue and Rutgers he had 15 and 13 completions respectively. And before you go off about the weather, Purdue's QB had 300 yards passing. Chiles only improved by being less of a liability. It's like benching Carter and saying he stopped fumbling and that was an improvement. Tell me in the Rutgers game Chiles was an improvement over any of the first 6 games. Against Iowa he had 250 yards. Against Purdue, the 180th passing defense in the nation he could only muster 150 yards. Most teams had over 300 yards passing on Purdue. Indiana just beat Purdue 66-0. Chiles has a million dollar arm with a ten cent brain. He had protection and still threw dangerous passes. Either blame Chiles or blame Smith for horrible play calling. Either way they are two arms of the same body.
I hate to say it but I saw way too many times where our corners were in good position and ended up getting mossed or called for a PI because of the terrible technique they were tought. Not just youth even Ed Woods looked terrible under coach meet.
The question is, how long? Smith is locked in for 7 years, basically a guaranteed contract. To fire him now would cost $38M. With a #61 rated recruit class, I don't see it getting better with Smith.
After we lose our seniors and potentially Marsh, with the crap recruit class coming in, we will be THE lowest rung in the B1G. Honestly I don't care if Chiles leaves, I don't see him saving 2025.
Is MSU the least relevant Big Ten team right now? Outside of Purdue, I don't think you can argue any other Big Ten team has less "juice/mojo" going for it. And you can just tell Smith regrets taking this job; it's all over his body language. Had he just waited he could've gone to Washington or UCLA. I would be shocked if he doesn't jump at the first chance to go to a job out West.
Crazy that msu looked like the favorite going into the Michigan game, lost, Michigan just beat osu and signed Bryce and msu is in absolute free fall lmao
@@hemanths2230 You a state fan? Why you even talking shit?? Lmfao can’t even make a bowl game in 4 years, shits sad as fuck, I’d be wayyy more worried about that
Damn, you guys were all talking up coach meat as the best position coach on this team. And now he, a Sparty alum, is leaving and taking all the best DBs and DB recruits with him. Just consider this karma for raiding Oregon State.
I’m just hoping once Smith gets to stop and realize his family is settled in and there’s literally ZERO excuses moving forward that his full attention is on football. There is no reason he should not have a winning team next year. No excuses. Go green.
Thought you all wanted more from the portal? So why you complaining about 14 recruits. Isn’t a more experienced player more advantageous? It’s gonna fluctuate year to year.
Honestly Matt I pay to follow this is so sad. There is no real communication. It's very depressing. Hockey is nice but not not money making. also consider blue sky.
How do you know the secondary coach left on his own? Maybe his ass was fired secondary was complete trash the last half of the season. Every pass the opponent threw was caught.
I'm not sure how well you know football, but a DB can only guard a receiver for so long; that goes for the best DBs in the world. With no pass rush, you just can't put all the blame on the secondary. QBs faced very little pressure against us, giving their WRs ample time to get open.

Not a good sign when a Spartan Dawg isn't staying home for more than one season.
It was a promotion for him. His family still out there.
Well, he's an LA Native and his family is in Cali. He's probably got young kids or something
@@hemanths2230that’s the part that makes it a little better for me. I didn’t know he was a west coast guy right away and was upset about a lateral move. I get it now
When you think about it, our QB is turning the ball over early in the season single handedly changed the narrative of the season.

To be fair, if you took the over at 4.5 wins, it paid off. Chiles was right.
I took the over on 5 wins. I never saw 4 or 4.5. And I lost. I lost the previous season as well. Hopefully I learned my lesson.
If the talent if even with Rutgers tha wtf does that say about the coaching. We are in deep shit with receuiting and now we lose one of best coaches

I guess I can save money by passing on season tickets... Yet again.

What an absolute dumpster fire in East Lansing. Genuinely. Wow.

If they want fans in the stands they have to have a product that is worth being a fan of.

We have officially now descended into ensconcment in the low low rungs of The Big Ten conference. Very depressing.

Yall have NFL talent and went 7-5. I'd be worried with the shitty coaches on your staff

I like the headline MSU recruiting takes a hit lol You're at 61st in the nation It's taken a hit all year You haven't done anything 😂😂
LA, or East Lansing? Hmmmm...
Sounds like spartans should fold up shop.
Eh whatever what did he do that was so great

Dude has no incentive to win, zero. He has a 7 year guaranteed contract for $53M. He's better off if they fire him.
What I like most about you is you’re obviously a Spartan fan, but refuse to be a homer. Homers perpetuate mediocrity
Listen guys there is a chance we can get urban Meyer, he was interested last year, why wouldn’t he still be interested?
Meyer was never interested.
Thought you all wanted more from the portal? So why you complaining about 14 recruits. Isn’t a more experienced player more advantageous? It’s gonna fluctuate year to year.
If you can't recruit, why would you think the portal would be any easier?
Not sure it really matters……

Chiles can't see down field. I guarantee you he needs an eye exam...his mechanics are horrible. He hasn't improved at all in 12 games
