Hello everyone I hope you are well. Here's a video about how to properly bag aquarium fish for transport. Boring subject I know, but very important if you need to move fish over long distances.

Have a local fish shop looking to buy some of my babies. Wasn't sure of the best way to transport them. Especially like the way you floated the bag. Such a simple thing but very helpful. Now to catch all the little hillstreams lol

This is gonna be very useful for me as I will be bringing home wild caught specimens I have caught and I want to make sure I could safely get them home.
When Im buying fish, applies for both fresh and saltwater fish, I usually ask for either of the two; either they be placed in the biggest bag available so they can have ample space for swimming to prevent ammonia from accumulating too fast or have the fish be bagged individually or by species. For example, tangs will be bagged individually if theyre different or in the same bag if theyre the same. It helps the fish be not as stressed compared to if they were in the same bag, cramped together. Its a lot heavier in terms of weight but its worth the fish’s safety.

Thanks, that is very interesting. I have never had to bad but perhaps some practice. Many shops seem to use small bags. Where I go now he uses large bags.

I need to take a fish on a plane, but it’ll need to be in the bag for longer than six hours. Would reopening and retying the bag during the layover be enough to give it more oxygen or would I need to do something else?
