- The Kyteman Orchestra, het Radio Filharmonisch Orkest en het Groot Omroepkoor o.l.v. Colin Benders spelen improvisaties in Het Concertgebouw te Amsterdam.
Trompettist Colin Benders, alias Kyteman, bestormde in 2009 met zijn orkest de muziekwereld. En meteen maar de HELE muziekwereld. Want The Kyteman Orchestra doet niet aan genres. Hiphop, jazz, opera, minimal - het past allemaal moeiteloos in de handen van Kyteman. Met zijn totaal eigen gebarentaal zweept hij zijn muzikanten op tot het uiterste. En daar ver voorbij. Na Lowlands, North Sea Jazz en vele vooraanstaande Europese podia verovert Kyteman nu Het Concertgebouw.
Niets staat vast in The Jam Sessions van The Kyteman Orchestra. Ook niet wanneer ze samenspelen met het Radio Filharmonisch Orkest en het Groot Omroepkoor. Geen bladmuziek, geen plannetjes, maar muziek in het hier en nu. Een onderzoek door 150 mensen tegelijk. Of zoals Kyteman het zelf verwoordt: ‘beveiliging uit, gevoel aan, focus in werking’. Een uniek, niet te missen begin van de Robeco SummerNights 2016.

I can not begin to imagine how the communication between Colin, the orchestra and the choir can lead to something as beautiful, majestic, amazing as this. I wonder how the orchestra and choir experienced this. For me this is a unique experience and probably, much worse, a once in a lifetime experience.
Yes how they improvise with a group together. Like sparrows. Hurd swarm consciousness. It’s the antidote to AI top down giving algorithms it’s bottom up receiving, tuning into the core content instead of form. Trust instead of control. We are now at that crossroad hope covid thought us that choosing trust bottom up attunement will bring us more than totalitarian freeze.

Quite an artificial fantasy full with manipulated sounds and voices. The only relief is the beautiful sound of solo violin and of solo clarinet.

In case you didn't know: all of the music you hear in this concert was made on-the-spot. The conductor / mastermind Kyteman has a bit of a rough plan I guess and has created his own sign language almost. He is working with musicians who know him for a long time and have played with him many times before but in this case there is a big choir and orchestra involved that haven't experienced him before.

You new to Kyteman? Their music is known to have hip hop influences. In their previous works there's even more hip hop
