With the sugar cane farm you should just use mud cause its 1 pixel shorter then normal blocks so hoppers can pick up items through it giving you a 100% of the sugar cane with none being lost to de-spawning

This is great. (BTW, the raid bar disappearing is normal. The mobs should still be spawning above. You can just flick the lever to flush the mobs down to your killing chamber.)

At some point you mentioned something about getting ready for a hardcore world and I wanted to tell you a few things about that.
1. The only way to start playing hardcore is to just create a world, don't be scared of losing a world of two, as it mostly only happens in the first days, so you don't lose much time. And playing them will really make you think about every choice you make. Also, it's not different from a regular world, just with a totem in the offhand and an extra one in the inventory.
3. If you want a safe start in hardcore, just find a village, get started with a simple trading hall, build every IanXoFour farm you want (designer of the Wither skelleton farm and guardian farm you built), most importantly the day 1 iron farm, use that iron to trade for emeralds, to get diamond gear, use librarians to get prot4 and every OP enchant you might want, and just start the game as a lategame player. (you should also check out Ian's stacking raid farm, which is considered TOO BROKEN for survival by a ton of players)
2. Don't feel presured to play hardcore if you don't like it, it's way better to play in a regular survival, die a lot, have a laugh about it and keep it going than to lie about playing in hardcore and cheating with savestates, or just by opening to LAN. If your gamemode is regular survival more power to you, make the content you want to make. The benefit that a hardcore provides is that if you ever get burnout of the world or don't know what else to do, you can always die and start over.

In my opinion, it's better to place a block behind the observer. This way only the piston below is activated and it harvests the two sugarcane in front of it. I think it's more efficient

some tips from a technical player. ANY overworld farm in modern minecraft doesnt need the darkness roof. just use tinted glass. looks better and does the exact same thing

The raid farm probably isn't working because of the direction you put it in your have to put it in a specific direction
