there are actually two different masterpiece seeker molds, both of which have been released in both the us and japan. The first was the mp3 mold, which was designed to transform into a real world accurate f15. the second was the mp11 mold, whiich made some changes to allow for a more show acurate Starscream (or any other non- conehead seeker) in robot mode, as well as being a tad smaller to fit the new masterpiece scale
The instructions included with Thundercracker are the instructions for the MP-03 seeker mold instead of the MP-11 seeeker mold (which this is the MP-11 mold: an entire brand new mold from the original MP seeker)
They made a Hasbro MP Skywarp about 5 years or more ago. He was a Walmart Exclusive. I have him, alas he has the original MP Seeker design with the "Thunder Thigh" as I like to call them. When I turn him into robot mode, I usually just take the kibble off and pose him without it.
MP Thundercracker uses the new seeker mold which started with MP-11 Coronation Starscream, thats why the head doesn't have multiple faces, the instructions are for the original US MP Starscream which used the old Seeker mold, don't even bother using the instructions to transform this one since the transformations is very different. also if you notice the shoulders still have the peg hols for the shoulder pads from coronation Starscream, and the blue clip is used to hold Megatron in jet mode.
i got it immediately because when I got it I was working at toys r us at the time, and we had LOADS of them they didnt sell well there. I think we sent back 200 by christmas
I love this toy! My favorite seeker and in the updated MP seeker mold. When TRU listed this online it sold out in minutes. A month later this figure was back in stock on TRU.com and stayed in stock until they took it off the site. Now Acid Storm MP is up and should be back in stock in August.
You can actually with the greatest of ease store the pilot in the cockpit even when you transform him, or glue him to the seat if that suits you more to avoid loosing him. Ive done that on my trio and often i forget about the pilots until i take a closer look into the canopy
I believe Optibotimus said in his review that they gave the exact same instructions as the original mp Starscream, while Thundercracker is an exact repaint of the recently released Coronation Starscream, where the face gimmick was taken out. in other words, Thundercracker does not have a face gimmick
Stupid question. When u say u want a Skywarp do u mean in MP form or just the the Thundercracker? Because if by chance knowledge of the Walmart exclusive Skywarp has eluded u all this time I have one MISB looking to get rid of
At my local TRU, they have a crap load of thundercrackers left lol. People up here in MI just haven't been buying him like that lol. Nice figure though
nice review. I love this mold. Picked up 2 of them locally at Toys R Us last year, then picked up a loose one too. as nice as this figure is. the iGear Sunstorm is even better
Hate to say this, but you are really confused about the molds. There are 2 version of MP-starscream. The 1st, released by TT & Hasbro years ago, has the tailfins on his hips w. the face changing. TT released a 2nd version, this mold, in 2012. Thundercracker is a repaint of that Starscream and exactly the same. Except the TT version comes with a crown & cape (instead of missiles & stand) and is indeed very VERY expensive now. I don't think there's any size difference between the 2 molds.
i have the figure,i also don't know why the head doesn't open to change the face and indon't have the torso problem, but my problem with the figure is the stand,i can't put him on robot or vehicle form on his stand
do u or know anyone that has a extra one there willing to give up cause im on a budget and its hard for me to get figures these day of the masterpiece figures
I saw this guy in a toys r us months ago, didn't pick him up bc he was so damned expensive ($75), and after watching another review on line, I decided he wasn't really worth that much, even if he was in my price range.
Hard to find? Hahahaha! Wait, you're serious? My Toysrus had at least 15 of these still on the shelves last time I was there. Granted it was a few months ago but they still had all of these long past Christmas. There were so many I was actually waiting until they went on clearance before I picked one up but even then I don't have the money for Masterpiece figures anymore so I never checked to see if it ever went on clearance.
This MP is based MP11 & MP11A Starscream and Sunstorm. There is no face gimmick and the peg where thee nosecone goes in is questionable. With my Starscream it works all the time Thundercracker about half and Sunstrom never.
This figure’s details and transformation makes my mouth water
it doesn't tab because there is actually a crotch flap that you fold out that allows the nose of the plane to come further down and tab in.
You have to pull the crouch peace out to push the chest in
That is one sweet looking color scheme with that great looking blue.
skywarp was released a long time ago as a Walmart exclusive. but it was the old MP seeker mold with the tail fins on the hips.

I actually have also only seen him once, but I know he's warming hard in some peoples' areas. Thanks TRU!

You were never able to find it? Odd, seeing as up until last month, my local Toysrus had maybe 15 on the shelf.
Stupid question. When u say u want a Skywarp do u mean in MP form or just the the Thundercracker? Because if by chance knowledge of the Walmart exclusive Skywarp has eluded u all this time I have one MISB looking to get rid of
Yay! Thundercracker is my favourite seeker. Thank you for the review!

Such a good figure. I love it

Why was he so hard to find? I see Him every time I go to a toys r us.
Acid Storm currently up on toyrus website

sad i never got any thundercracker at all but that is a cool one
"Who needs an iPod when you have a Soundwave?"
Apparently modern day kids. They probably do not know what's a cassette player.
Do you know if there is a megatron (pistol) master piece around??
They made a skyward a couple years ago, I think it was Walmart exclusive
my local toys r us had at least 50 on the shelf
Im waiting for them to remake megatron...i'm sure they could make a really good megatron with the tech they have now
They made one. However, it's probably nearly impossible to find.
This use the new mp star scream mould that use this mould as well
Baltmatrix, will u be reviewing Cybertron Thundercracker if you do own 1?
The problem is that his instructions are from the original mp starscreams instructions
My Original Hasbro MP Starscream's wings fell off. The plastic hinges crumbled, did they fix this?
Yes, they did it with all seakers after starscream
The newer starscream version has a translucent holo-pilot.
Yup I'd fold out the crotch piece down to fit the cockpit piece behind, that should let you scooch that whole assembly down onto the peg
Today
Soundwave would be a Tablet
Thank god that he transforms into a jet (or something) in Transformers Prime
Also... (I hate doing this)
His knees are double-ratcheted, so they go well beyond 90 degrees
it says ©Takara 2006, was it issued in 2006. I thought it was issued around 2011 or 2012
A Big Failure that doesn't look like a masterpiece in my humble opinion
SINCE WHEN WERE MASTERPIECES IN STORES?!?!
Thundercracker is my favourite seeker
I found mine uses without the box at a local comic book store for $35
They have Thundercracker now so why not Skywarp. I think a lot of collector's would pay good dollar for a Skywarp to complete the seeker trio.
Why is it when you accidentally collapsed the legs i thought of Dorf
You forgot to show that those chest thrusters also have missiles :/
awesome
do u or know anyone that has a extra one there willing to give up cause im on a budget and its hard for me to get figures these day of the masterpiece figures
when Kyoryuger's Bunpachy & Plezuon?
I think there is a skywarp version ..
Could you review masterpiece starscream
true that!
I saw this guy in a toys r us months ago, didn't pick him up bc he was so damned expensive ($75), and after watching another review on line, I decided he wasn't really worth that much, even if he was in my price range.
You do the best reviews xD
Isn't this just the mp-11 mold? There's really nothing different with this than the takara version.
Hard to find? Hahahaha! Wait, you're serious? My Toysrus had at least 15 of these still on the shelves last time I was there. Get combiner wars skywarp he is cool
This MP is based MP11 & MP11A Starscream and Sunstorm. There is no face gimmick and the peg where thee nosecone goes in is questionable. With my Starscream it works all the time Thundercracker about half and Sunstrom never.
mp 11 goes for more
11:45 Midget Thundercracker.
hey baltmatrix, i think if you fiddle with crotch piece a bit will allow you to peg the torso into place better
he poops the glass
These lasers are called NULLRAY s
lord-pizza frost Nope, only Starscream has those. Thundercracker has flamethrowers.
Oh ok i did not know that flamthrowers are evan cooler

Hasbro Masterpiece G1 Soundwave has yellow eyes.
This seems like a downgrade from the deluxe version

PLJ Zunitch They're the exact same except for the colors.
