Louisiana, Jerry Lee grew up with a built in sense for singing and playing the piano, while Linda Gail, his younger sister watched and learned. She later stated that Jerry's talents were natural, not learned. Jerry Lee passed on some of his endowments to his first cousin, Mickey Gilley, who also became an accomplished musician; and all the while, another first cousin, Jimmy Swaggart, was one of the loudest voices condemning the birth of rock & roll in those early days of rock & roll. Right to the end, Jerry Lee's battle between his love for his music (both rock, and country), and his love for his religion, echoed in his musical expression.
Love Linda Gail. She learned to play on the same "piana" as Jerry, Mickey and Jimmy.
She toured with her brother from a young age...then went solo and did great.
Look at Jerry...he loves his sister and her music.

Miss Linda's contribution to the music industry is invaluable for many reasons one being Jerrylee's sound will never fade while Linda got her tools of her trade at the end of her arms.

Rockin' all the old folks! She's pretty cool! I was still just a poor country girl stuck out middle of nowhere in the Aussie bush but I would turn the radio up full blast and listen to his music watching the big moon and bright stars rising through the kitchen window. Those stars never went out for me and will shine brightly forever....My mum would scream "You're mad! Turn that blood radio off!" But, I never heard her, just the music... All that mattered to me.
MY God, I am paralyzed stuck in a wheelchair and I almost forgot as I started to stand up and dance.

At 82 I have always enjoyed your music, happy birthday to you. Wow your sister still has your talent. Amazing I so love piano my mother always had a jazz player at her house to play the piano when we were young kids back in the 40s and 50s. Thanks for sharing

My mama who just passed away at 89 remembered Jerry Lee sitting on their front porch steps playing a gospel song on guitar and singing in Tunica, La sometime in the 40's. Glad to see he is still around.

I so agree. Lovelace must've taken a lot of shit from Jerry in his (Jerry's) wildest years. But he stood by him. And he never told the wildest stories...he's too loyal for that. Some bits and hints...but nothing more. He just praise the man he's been working with/for for nearly 60 years.

There in no one, nor will there ever be anyone, like you sir. When you re-recorded all your old tunes for the movie, it was the best collection of Rock and Roll tunes I've ever heard.

True. This could have been written by me. I also was "shocked" when I found out these wonderful strong re recordings were made in 1989. JLL is the best, no one will ever be able to reach him.

First record (45 rpm) I bought was "Whole Lot of Shakin'" by Jerry Lee. Saw him several times in concert. I am now 75 and still think he is pretty kool.
I happened upon Linda in a pub in Weston-super-Mare about 14 years ago. Firstly I was surprised I was not aware of her before, and secondly that here she was performing to as I recall it, little more than a handful of people. She was fantastic and I was phoning friends to let them here her live. A truly memorable and unexpected evening that cost me next to nothing but was one of the best most authentic live musical experiences I had!
As an 80-year-old European, I have in the past visited Graceland, toured Sun Studios, walked along Beale Street, and chatted with Bernard Lansky in the Peabody hotel, but I would imagine being invited to one of these evenings would be the ultimate experience for a rock n roll devotee, thanks for posting.

I have to add....she is still playing and singing as great as ever. I believe nowadays her two daughters are her backup singers on her shows.

Happy Birthday Jerry Lee! My Uncle Eddie Everett was your biggest fan there ever could have been. He used to keep our house rockin and rollin playing your music on my Grandma's Grand Piano. He danced on that piano as if he was Jerry Lee incarnate! He even had a glass tube with a hankerchief that was supposed to have your sweat on it. I don't know if it really did or not, but I'd like to think it did because it made him happy. He really loved you Jerry Lee. By the way, Linda Gail that was some incredible playin! Linda Gail Lewis is a great pianist, her shows are unforgettable, the last time I saw her live was at a concert in Calella (Barcelona), she shared the stage with Crazy Cavan and the Rhythm Rockers, Linda Gail Lewis had her room in it hotel than us, a great woman.
