I can vouch for everything he said. I moved to NWA from Northeast Ohio (NEO) and winter here is SOOOO much nicer that what I grew up with. I was always used to cold and gloomy winters. Like Chicago, NEO is near the Great lakes and you basically never see the sun from late November until late March. Then in late January throughout February, it was normally below freezing most of the time. My first winter in NWA was such a nice change. Besides during the polar vortex thing where it snowed some here, most of the winter was very mild. I felt like it was in the high 40's to mid 50's most of the time. But the best part was the sun would still come out haha. The only thing I don't love about NWA winters is that the grass turns a yellowish brown color. I'm used to grass staying green all year, even during brutal winters seasons. And the only reason it even bothers me is this area is so beautiful and full of nature that the brown grass kind of makes things feel "dead" even though I know it's just gone dormant for the winter months.
Thanks! Makes 1000% sense - the brown grass was weird for me as well. But I bet that would happen in the north as well if there wasn’t snow covering it
