Hey Bill, Great video! One note though, QHD means Quad HD. This means 4 times 720 or "high def". 2560x1440 is 4 times the pixels count on 720p. Nothing to do with 16:10 aspect ratio. So this screen has 4x the pixel count of a steam deck as 2560×1600 is 4x the 1280×800 resolution on the deck. Looks awesome! Probably sticking with my deck for now though. Thanks for the info in this!
Make sure you update the Ally to the latest drivers and firmware before doing bench comparisons. The latest drivers and firmware really increased performance for me. Looks like a great piece of kit!
@@TheVoyagers. In Destiny 2, I’ve gone up 10-15fps and can now play it at 1080p with high textures and everything else low. It looks really good. Average FPS is 45fps when it used to be around 38fps. Hope that helps!
@gtibro6799 I mean once the drivers are up to date for the legion it should outperform the ally because of the 7500mhz ram vs the 6400mhz ram in the ally.

That was a great review. Most reviews that I’ve seen are just all going over the same thing but you went deep and talked about the controls and what buttons do what and when you turn it into FPS mode what button does what. That was a great video, good job I look forward to watching more!!!
Hey just to let you know QHD does not mean 16:10. QHD is 2560x1440p. In this case it’s 2560x1600p which is noted as QHD+. In case you are unaware HD is 720p, FHD is 1080p, QHD is 1440p, and UHD is 4K. Great content as always looking forward to the performance review.
When it comes to these handhelds, a VRR screen is good for games where the fps won't go high enough as the screen refresh rate. So let's say 40fps looks WAY smoother on a VRR screen than 40fps on a non-VRR screen. A high refresh rate screen means nothing when you're playing a very demanding game at 40fps, but VRR shines in this scenario, however. That's why I consider the Rog Ally a better contender to this, in the screen department ofc.
Doesn’t quite work that way. VRR just syncs the refresh rate of the screen to what the gpu is producing. This helps because if they aren’t in sync you have to wait for the actual screen refresh as well. When out of sync it can produce screen tearing, jutter, and a feeling of choppiness. That being said if you cap your frame rate at a setting you know is always achievable and it’s divisible by your max refresh rate you can have a similar consistency. Where VRR helps is when you have inconsistent frame rate. So you are running a game between 50-70 fps depending on load. It will generally feel smooth. However this is a fairly large swing and the response time time still might be noticeable.
I thought you could force native pc titles via custom resolutions from graphics driver? that's a bummer, i thought could run 800p as the rule minus some exceptions, but you are saying its actually vice versa ?@@provis83

@@SWOTHDRA A. it is not a disgrace in 2025 or 2026 , i am not saying they will stay at 800p tho , but for a 7inch display it is more than fine. the issue with higher res screens is that they use a lot more battery power and also run the games at a lower framerate for hardware like what Steam Deck has , you can look at the 1200p Screen mod that exists for Steam Deck... B. if you want 1440p you have other options , i need more optimization for hardware and software at a reasonable price like consoles than to have the latest and greatest resolutions and graphical fidelity and framerates on my handheld device. and Valve knows that and they seem to move in that direction , 1440p is an absolute overkill for a hardware like Steam Deck at 7 inch as well. i rather not ruin the device and its price point for that res.

I almost need a video showing someone booting it up for the first time to figure out where it lies between the pc gaming and console gaming worlds. I personally like being able to go to any website, listen to spotify, or stream on the same system as I'm gaming on. How much this fits that pc mold will determine how much I enjoy it (and potentially a future purchase). I was stoked seeing a system similar to a nintendo switch, able to play my favorite games, with a mouse that I've always wanted someone to design. Edit - Nvm I'm sold I saw the flash of a pc desktop screen at arround 10:44. That's enough to convince me it's still a PC.
I am thoroughly disappointed that the screen is 144hz. Because 120hz is objectively better for handhelds. Since we can only achieve butter-smooth frame pacing when the FPS is an exact division of the refresh rate, this means the Legion Go can only get smooth pacing at 72, 48, and 36 fps. If the screen were 120hz, we’d instead have smooth pacing at 60, 40, and 30fps, which are more standard and support emulation a lot better. 120hz would’ve been perfect and we wouldn’t even need to switch to 60hz manually. 120hz would also mean it wouldn’t be necessary to have per-game refresh rate settings. Just lock the fps in-game to 30, 40, or 60 and that’s it. What a HUGE missed opportunity by Lenovo.
Thank you for the good video😁 I'm curious about the battery. I've seen several videos related to Legion go, but there's no word on how much it runs, only talking about the battery capacity. But this is great competition, hopefully more pc handhelds come out and really push the companies to do better and for Microsoft to release a handheld version of windows for these devices.
This was great, and I'm glad we are getting more and more portable PC options Also, your transition animations were crisp! Finally, what was playing on your screen in the background?
I really appreciate your video! I do have a question for your opinion. I have the Steam Deck and I adore it!…however, my desktop computer is an Apple and is severely limited for gaming. I’d like to get into the PC gaming field with Windows, but a stand alone gaming desktop is outside my price range. Would this be worth selling my Steam Deck and purchasing this because it DOES allow a Windows gaming experience?
The screen resolution and 144 Hertz refresh rate seems overkill for a handheld. But what do I know 🤷 I'm still happy with my steam deck, but if I didn't have a gaming handheld yet, I would probably get this one. For now, I'm holding out for an 8000 series APU so it's a substantial performance upgrade.
I think the screen resolution is fine because the screen is so big, but the refresh rate is really high, and honestly I'll just stick it at 60 most of the time anwyay.
Most informative review so far! Sadly, the part where gyro doesn't work when detached is such a silly oversight.. Personally, I am holding off for a revision or maybe a 3rd party controller that would allow me to play shooters without using this gimmicky fps mode. It may work for some and may be good in niche cases, but I'd 100% rather have gyro in the right pad. Seems like lenovo needed a unique selling point and they've done this just for the sake of it.

Hello! Thank you for the video. I had a question. Can I use the steam deck dock with this device? I feel like if it fits well and the cord lines up it would be a pretty solid dock. Can't wait to get my hands on this really cool looking piece of tech.
looks amazing. i love the mouse integration into the controller. i would dual boot this into the steam deck os. software sleeping not working is a deal breaker. its not really portable if you cant travel with it in sleep mode. i already have a steam deck and enjoy it when im waiting for class. sometimes i watch movies on it and its not that bad. its better than gaming on a laptop, and definitely lasts longer than a gaming laptop. at least its repairable, unlike most modern laptops.
Excellent review. My big hope and dream for this handheld is to have it be the ultimate to go Xbox. As an Xbox user, I’ve been wanting to get into the portable PC game since I believe Xbox titles are shared with Windows 11 devices. By the sounds of it, that’s exactly what it is. Would you disagree?
Hey there, awesome coverage. Thanks for sharing this early on. I feel this is the first one to make a stand in front of the Deck. Do you know how the trackpad performs for aiming on fps games? I'm considering upgrading from the Deck and my only worry is that they might have fps mode for.... Fps games 😛 but then the trackpad is kind of an afterthought and won't perform well in games
This looks like a great device. The only problem i have is key bindings. It doesn't seem to be able to change the bindings on the device itself. Yes it can be done within game but ... Is this something that may be added later within the UI? Can it be done in Steam's controller configurator? Also it would have been nice to have that second touchpad but that i can overlook. Otherwise this looks like a really fun device. I have a midrange PC at the house. I barely turn it on since i got my Deck. I'm not much of a graphics or fps snob. This like a pretty good step up. And without the compatibility or anticheat issues that the Deck has. Honestly not worried about the ecosystem too much (except for the performance tab). I just going to go into Big Picture Mode probably. Very exciting 🎉
Somebody may have already said this, but QHD refers to "quad HD" as in 4x 720p or "HD"...in other words QHD refers to 1440p resolution and to my knowledge there is no existing moniker for the 16:10 aspect ratio.
How is the D-pad's performance in fighting games? I'm choosing between this and the AYN Odin 2, and fighting games performance would be the deciding factor, to be honest.
I gotta be honest, I am not the guy to ask about fighting games. I love streetfighter six but you know why I love streetfighter six? Because it’s got smash mode essentially

@@NerdNest That led me on a brief, but fun, rabbit hole. Where did you get the animation that played on it?
They are in the app
This will be my first time buying something like this. I just want to know, do you download games like your phone? Like they have their own store?
The only store you need is called Steam
Thank you! The only person giving air time to the gyro.
does it have a bypass?
I'm interested to see wehat the GP080MTL has to offer. Great review.
Nice review.
Do you guys think its better than the Rog Ally?
The screen resolution and 144 Hertz refresh rate seems overkill for a handheld. But what do I know 🤷
I'm still happy with my steam deck, but if I didn't have a gaming handheld yet, I would probably get this one.
For now, I'm holding out for an 8000 series APU so it's a substantial performance upgrade.
I think the screen resolution is fine because the screen is so big, but the refresh rate is really high, and honestly I'll just stick it at 60 most of the time anwyay.
The 2560x1600 allows for proper interfere scaling of 1280x800p aka 2x the pixels.
Finally some legion go videos are coming up! was that sonic origins plus while testing the sound?
This is than better (MODE FPS) an classic mouse? Or is best mouse classic for example logitech or ryzen? I think is very comfortable but i’m no sure, sorry, i need information ‘cause i bought lenovo legion go and i’m waiting for it. Thaanks!! Btw i need information for uninstall or delete games, the lenovo save the files cache or trash files? How uninstall for complete a game? Thank’u so much!
My main question is how is the battery life overall? I know it’s title dependent, settings etc but that was my concern with the Ally.
Happy about the competition in the handheld market
looking all over for these reviews
Thanks for the review! amazing! ( specially the bag tip is true I didn't thought about that, I saw your collegue Fan of deck saying the fan is lowder then "steam deck" doesn't look like just when you go full speed, unless the performance mode goes quick to full speed after hour of gaming? I'm curious about the fan noise?
Honestly I’ve not had tons of time with it, I’m working on a more in depth look at this device soon.
I've noticed you've upped your presentation in your latest videos. Looks good!
21:50 What kind of camera and lens do you use? That was showed here?? Thanks 😊

Thanks! I wonder how’s the battery life compared to Ally
Good video. I'll subscribe. Question: Can you customize the buttons in FPS mode? For instance, can I map one to F1 for Destiny 2?
Hello! Thank you for the video. I had a question. Can I use the steam deck dock with this device? I feel like if it fits well and the cord lines up it would be a pretty solid dock. Can't wait to get my hands on this really cool looking piece of tech.
Do you think i can just buy the controllers for my pc separately and have them work?
Can you compare Asus Ally and and Lenovo go? Would especially love to know which is better for AAA games like Star Wars Jedi
Hows the screen look compared to the Switch Oled and the Rog Ally?
Are you getting any screen tearing due to lack of VRR in the Lenovo go?
Hand held beast then you got a tablet and goes to mouse mode too. Wow with a build in stand.
Too cool
looks amazing. i love the mouse integration into the controller. i would dual boot this into the steam deck os. software sleeping not working is a deal breaker. its not really portable if you cant travel with it in sleep mode. i already have a steam deck and enjoy it when im waiting for class. sometimes i watch movies on it and its not that bad. its better than gaming on a laptop, and definitely lasts longer than a gaming laptop. at least its repairable, unlike most modern laptops.
dude you can do serious damage with that thing if somebody threaten you
Excellent review.
Any technical disadvantage of portrait screen?
i get mine tommorrow. how would i install linux? the usual way or should i wait for the drivers?
Thank god finally a good look at this System love your channel great first look thanks.
hello, I would like to know which model of webcam or camera you use to film yourself please because it is really very clean, thank you

You can change the mapping of the buttons.
Thx for review man so what is your opinion - ally or go ?
Komm von Reddit 😃 danke für dein Video so macht man Reviews ich bin gespannt auf das deep Dive! Abo ist raus ! Grüße aus Deutschland
