You’ve definitely got the clamps the correct way round in my opinion, I have mine the same way (for approximately 18 years) and it also makes it easier to lift the mitre saw off the stand.
Your extension lock levers are on backwards. The black hanging levers on either end are meant to stop the wood at the desired length for faster cutting. You are using them as height adjusters. To adjust the height you need to adjust the entire mount with the two spin locks on each end.
I've just had the same issue with my new Dewalt mitre saw stand today. Wish I'd found your video earlier when I was struggling. I'm new to DIY and not exactly a natural. I'm sure the instructions, if I understood them correctly said I should have had the saw the opposite way around to what it is now. My saw is the same way around as yours and I feel better knowing someone with more experience has theirs the same. Thank you.
Clamps are meant to go on the back as when you walk towards it the action to put it on draws the machine away from you but not too far as the bracket hooks on to the stand and won't let it fall over the other side. and when unclamping it the machine comes towards you when you pull as to not put you off balance and you pull the saw close to your body to carry it . If you had to unclamp it from the front you could potentially lose balance and the machine fall backwards and you can't follow it as the stand is in the way. Also when mounting it you would have to push it away from you first past that latching point and them pull it back. Having the same problem. Of toppling the user . That's why the clamps are meant to be at the back of the saw. 👍
I just found this video because I’m fitting a Makita chopsaw to my new DE7025 and going by the instructions have the same issue you mention. I have to use some ply as it’s a non-DeWalt saw. If I have it the ‘correct’ way round it looks totally wrong and the whole width of the stand ends aren’t being used.
I personally would have the clamps at the front as you had them so when you release them the saw can be pulled into your body for support. But that's just me!

thanks I know this was correct

@@DavidRelphWorkLife Hey, if it works then that's what matters!
