  • Mount Triglav in the Julian Alps is the icon of Slovenia. It is often done in 2 days and has a solid Via Ferrata section in the last mile. This cables on the hike reminded me of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. Mount Triglav is an awesome hike which I would highly recommend!

    Hi, your video is great. You did not use any via ferrata kits or a helmet. How vital is this for a mid experienced hiker? Loose rocks, dangerous places without a cable? Was there many others like you? may be half?) I noticed some people moved very slowly, clipping themselves on every cable. May be only like them need this kit and helmet in particular? Thanks.

    • @theworldhiker1
      @theworldhiker1  Год назад +4

      Hi Elena,
      I would recommend a via ferrata kit and helmet. I think that unless you are very experienced it is better to take them than not. I felt like the rock was solid and would say that maybe 20% of people did not have this kit. Better to have it than wish you did.

      Hey, Slovenian citizen here...i climbed Triglav for the first time in September, and it would be no stretch to say that I was/am an aaaaabsolute begginer, i had my gear on me, but plenty of people didnt, I could have easily climbed even the hardest of routes bare-handed

      I would not climb this with a dog as the last couple miles are challenging and you need your hands for sure.

      This route starts at Rudno polje. via Studorski preval to the first hut called Vodnikov dom. then he went to Planika hut but for a better experience, I recommend Kredarica for going up and Planika going down.

      @The_Andvarius I did go from south, all the way from Bohinj lake. It was tough, first day was 2500 m elevation, 21 km, 2nd day was around 1000 m elevation and 15 km back to the parking lot. But the scenery was worth it.

    No matter how much experience you have should have had a helmet on , as you are putting others at risk if something had happened to you . Seen it so many times.
