The ironic thing is, for the working and middle classes on both the left and the right, they'd actually agree on a lot. Money in politics, corporate influence and dominance, not needing three jobs just to survive. If it was only economic issues and the working class united, we'd have 90% of what most people want tomorrow. But it's the culture war part that stops it. Any "scolding" is from people who have to argue for their right to exist every damn day. The right wing keeps using the fear of the "unknown" to keep their side on their side. While us on the left are forced to fight that culture war just so we can survive.

Who exactly are you referencing when you say they are "arguing for their right to exist" ? Last I checked, any American citizen has the right to exist here and maintains all the same rights as the rest of us.
one thing for sure is, the elite are afraid of the left and right realizing that each other were never the problem, and they'd unite against the rich. the culture war exists so we can keep fighting amongst ourselves rather than the common enemy we forget we have. division makes money, that's how it's been.
This is the example of the racism she was talking about. When affirmative action exists no people of color seems to get anything right. We don't need handout.
listen to yourself talk. You're doing what she acused the left of doing. You're fulfiling her prophecy. The way the right views it, minorities were told and brainwashed by the left that Republicans were all racist. Some unfortunately are but most are not. What pulled me away from the progressives was a guy who you'd call an affirmative action hire. I don't listen to him or even like him anymore and find him disgusting now. He is Milo Yiannopoulos. I was a young 16 year old bi guy in 2016 just discovering my sexuality. I believed a lot of the propaganda (at the time) of the republicans all being racist and homophobic and sexist. Then Milo came on Dave Rubin (who I also no longer listen to) along with Ben Shapiro (Jewish guy) and Larry Elder (black guy) and easily dismissed the racist, homophobic, and other claims. They made a strong case for libertarian conservatism that I hadn't heard before and that answered a lot of my questions. It wasn't until 2023 that I actually started to see some of those isms rear their ugly head around the time of October 7th and a few months after Elon buying Twitter. Even then I look back at old videos and talk to some of the people including people I knew in my life. It wasn't because they were like that all along. Also in 2016 two things that made me believe the republicans were changing and have changed was how Trump responded to the pulse nightclub shooting. You have a guy pledge alegiance to ISIS and then kill ~50 gay people. The democrats scolded you for being islamophobic for talking about it. The Republicans showed support. And then there was a moment at Trump's 2016 convention speech where he said "I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens from a radical and hateful foreign ideology" followed by "And let me just say as a republican it makes me so happy to hear you clap for that, thank you" followed by more applause. And then there was Peter Theil saying he was proud to be gay, proud to be a republican, and proud to be an American. And For all of Trump's stupidity he supports gay marriage. Trump was real progress for the LGB part of LGBTQ in the republican party and in the country.
You’re right, but the left does this WAY more. Radical leftist ideology is present in many schools, and is taught to children the same way math or science is taught. If you wanna call out when conservatives do this, you should be honest with yourself and also condemn it from the left.
Working class left here: we have TONS of labor focused causes. Saying otherwise says YOU are the one caught up in the identity politics. How many unions have you supported lately? How many bills for universal healthcare or guaranteed housing have you looked into? How many movements for tying minimum wage to inflation have you looked into? If “liberals” are feeling caught in the debate of race and gender, then they are the ones trapping themselves there. Socialists, in particular, are heavily focused of labor and rights. DEMOCRATS are wrapped up in the media’s identity nonsense. And we all know that democrats and republicans are two wings on the same bird.
And you're the left wing of the democrats. When I was a trotskyist militant (and then leftcom) I knew a lot of you "socialists" around Europe, and it's always the same. "We're the real deal" until it's time to support the next socialdemocrat milquetoast reform or march behind the completely corrupt nation-wide trade union for the Nth time. The proletarian revolution is not gonna happen, and at least half of the blame goes on the quality of the "labor activists" of the left. Considering the option between your bureaucratic, ideologically insane version of capitalism with CRT in schools, and that of the right, I can see why millions of workers are shifting there.
Universal healthcare systems has proven to be way less effective than non universal healthcare systems. The reason our healthcare system is so expensive is because we are way too universal with our healthcare because our government regulates almost everything in healthcare instead of creating competition like any other industry.
Exactly my takeaway. "Family values" is vague and moral to them, but not to progressives who have had to endure 80+ years of other people's family / religious trauma.
I think the last guy's points are incredibly accurate. It doesn't feel like either party holds space for a defensible labor movement, the one plank that often truly stretches across both aisles. In its absence, it makes sense that something more sensational and nonsensical would take its place.
White folks started abandoning labor unions in the 1970s, which is why unions were heavily black (almost 45% when we were only about 10% of the population). The Republicans abandoned labor unions first.
Because when he hears her say "economic equality" what he understands her to mean (perhaps incorrectly but this is how he sees it) is "equality of outcome" which is not something he believes in. At a high level everyone deserves an equal opportunity for success but he also believes that the only people that deserve success are the people that manage those opportunities. I'm summarizing from stuff he's written. Don't shoot me, I'm the messenger.
When most people say equality they mean equality of outcome. Conservatives realize, rightly, that there is no such thing. Instead, the word he was looking for was ‘equity’. All Americans should be given the same opportunity to succeed, if they don’t then it was their fault. It is not conformist thinking to accept objective reality, it's rational thinking. I'm afraid I won't be able to explain what rational thinking is to you though, because to understand what rational thinking means, would require rational thought. The core issue is really too much religion and too little education, too many people are raised up by their parents, being taught to believe in ignorant beliefs (religion), but then when it comes to a proper education, they are left behind to believe the lies told to them by their parents, be it from lack of opportunity, lack of resources or in some instances even because their own parents are sheltering their children from being educated (religious home schooling to prevent children from being properly educated, sadly, is a real thing, people actually want to prevent the education of their children). This produces uneducated adults (conservatives) who know nothing more than to believe in fantasies and politicians (republicans) who are smart enough to realize these people can be easily manipulated through lies. Let me just circle the thought here. 10-20 year experienced reporter talks to twenty-something kids just getting out of college trying to be a social media conservative, or another name could be a “reporter.” How the VICE reporter is able to not yell at their top of her lungs impresses me for sure
Exactly. They like to say "equity" or "equality of opportunity" instead so they don't have to look at the raw numbers that glaringly state that we are so far from equality among different demographics. They can hand-wave that reality away by blaming the individuals for failing, not accepting that the frameworks that those individuals have to work within inherently make success more difficult for them.
The marketing of growing a “conservative” view is crazy. Instead of people having their own beliefs they market their own. I’m not saying that conservatives are bad people but the manipulative marketing is.
Don't forget, every time you have criticism like this, swap the parties and see if your emotional reaction is still the same. If this was a liberal movement, would you be so offended? We can be critical of the ideas, but be fair.

Its bothering that if you express one opinion that aligns with con or dem its tied to a huge package of ideology. I am pro dem, but I feel like topics about LGBTQ are getting way too much attention, and not enough attention is turned towards economics. con feels a like scandalous conspiracy theorists party. dem feels like over the top swj party. When they will both calm down and be more talkative to each other and saner…
As an LGBTq person I hate how much it is talked about, economics is more important, however I don’t want my people to loose their freedoms as American Citizens and I don’t want them or myself to be discriminated against which seems to be one of the unifying principle of the modern right.
Hot button topics and single wedge issues allow for simplified sound bite messaging, which is the extent of what our dumbed-down society can understand
I would like to have a dialogue about this so called problem. The problem is that these people don't want to see LGBTQ people...at all!! They have a problem with representation. Even the professor here is talking bullshit. These kids are the back up plan for the future if Trump doesn't win.

Hungary is considered one of the less affluent countries in Europe. The major issues it faces are not migration or LGBTQ matters, but the erosion of democracy, the decline of free media, and widespread corruption. Many of the government's supporters are impoverished rural residents who rely heavily on the government and, due to significant exposure to propaganda, tend to believe it. Hungary is unlikely to reach the level of more advanced countries such as Slovenia, Estonia, Denmark, or the Netherlands. These are the realities. Additionally, Hungary has some of the highest taxes, which are distributed inequitably. It's wise to question the narratives of seemingly heroic figures, as they may conceal numerous falsehoods.
I’m a gen z who holds more conservative views than my liberal friends, mostly bcz of personal and religious background. While I know there is extremism in liberalism, after watching a lot of media by young conservatives, I can tell that most videos are rage-bait and rarely give a solution to whatever problem is presented throughout the vid. I do believe that that the “with liberty comes responsibility” premise is essential to achieve goals, that victim mindset holds us back, and that Americans should be more united but the upright reject and mockery of all liberal ideas doesn’t seem to be a a respectful way to present the philosophy for a better future. I like some ideas but the delivery of those ideas give me the impression that lots of people are in right-wing grift for the glory and money.
To summarize: Gen Z can be every bit as disingenuous as any other group and some old guy thinks peoples yard signs should show solidarity with more groups.

As a young person, who has seen policy proposed by the gop, why would you support them? They put in right to work, don't want to raise the minimum wage, remove protections for young kids and lowering the minimum working age, remove consumer protections, and so many more things that will benefit the rich and corporations they "fight against". And the culture wars are bullshit. If someone wants to be gay or lesbian, it's not gonna affect you. Just let them do, like yeah, don't use the F word. Things are unaffordable because the wealth had been hoarded, wages haven't kept up with productivity since the 1980s, education started to get way more expensive since the 1980s. Most of the modern problems are here thanks to Reagan, he is a ghoul. These young conservatives have no idea what they're talking about and they just are repackaging their extreme beliefs as to make it more benevolent.
Intellectual means you can learn and be accepting to new concepts and ideas. These people are NOT open or even able to grasp new concepts other than what’s in their echo chamber
Dude at 11:00 nail on the head. Labor was the front line in America for civil rights and for progress. The problem is government on either side is capitalism. Neither side is truth a labor party. Blue is just slightly better is all. And it isn’t enough.
100% focused on wedge issues to garner support, meanwhile workers rights are actively being stripped away while these social issues capture everyone’s attention
So basically they're European style conservatives. Nation-first, support your own people types. Family > Economy types. New to the US but to the rest of the world we're just catching up to the obvious.
No, they’re nothing like EU conservatism. Instead, they are driven primarily by American-brand puritanism, and other aspects of Calvinism derived from the protestant movement, and it’s nothing new to us at all. It’s because they believe people that don’t want to have families or live lives contrary to what American conservatives believe should be punished for it. This where their brand of “Christian Nationalism” and evangelicalism comes from, which is almost a cult in itself, as it does not align with other larger sects and denominations outside the US. For instance, JD Vance wants to tax people that don’t have children, and the gop wants to ban contraceptives and make menstrual data publicly available. That’s not even about abortion anymore (which the tories do support), that’s just invasive and disturbing. They also want to abolish the Dept of Education and make Bibles the primary text in schools. The centering family thing is also a lie, as they do not support: child tax credits (have repeatedly voted against and repealed them no matter what they claim), free school lunch, free healthcare for children, and just any social support services whatsoever. They believe private charity orgs should take care of social programs, not the government. Finally, Trump’s largest base of voters is - contrary to what this vid would have you believe, divorced men, not bright eyed zoomers and late millennials. Also, they believe that all nations should unconditionally support Israel as it means you will be blessed (according to the Bible), but also as a means of bringing about the second coming of Christ. I grew up in the church and alongside people that believe these things, so I’m speaking from firsthand experience. While I get what they say when they describe the dems as becoming increasingly tone deaf and preachy, I really don’t think people outside the US truly understand just how far gone US conservatism has become. Most are not going to openly say the things I describe of course (they’ll continue to talk about culture war issues instead), but it’s ultimately what many believe and what their end goals are.
Like the left knows the very first thing about Karl Marx or workers. You only care about your little pathetic identity causes of the moment and the contempt you have reaped from millions of workers is entirely on you.
Some of this honestly feels like a victory for the progressive movement. Many of us on the left have been saying for years that if Republicans really wanted to ban abortion, they would initiate policies that actually took care of the American family.
I’m actually impressed that Vice for the most part made a fairly unbiased and informational video. I’m one of the people that they’re describing here. Gen Z raised in a liberal/center left household but became more conservative than my parents.
this video is completely missing that American conservatism is moving extremely quickly to the far right. all of these shifts in social policy talked about in this video are literally trademarks of European fascism

That’s because the Far Right in Europe offers ideas like UBI, and healthcare, and universal daycare programs, and paid parental leave for new parents…the European Far Right is just a little more exclusive as to who gets said benefits (for example in Hungary Viktor Orban explicitly said “Gypsies and people of “Israeli descent” need not apply for Hungary’s benefits, how very German of Vikkie 🙄🤦♂️)

Universal healthcare systems has proven to be way less effective than non universal healthcare systems. The reason our healthcare system is so expensive is because we are way too universal with our healthcare because our government regulates almost everything in healthcare instead of creating competition like any other industry.

2:30 - why is he afraid to say economic equality like equality is a dirty word?
While this philosophy has its issues, it has begun to be a goal of the Liberals as well recently as they too realize that we aren’t all equal and believing so is dangerous to those who need a leg up to have a chance.

21% goes to social security. Senior citizens. The people who paid the taxes for decades. And a small number of disabled people.

I like some ideas but the delivery of those ideas give me the impression that lots of people are in right-wing grift for the glory and money.
To summarize: Gen Z can be every bit as disingenuous as any other group and some old guy thinks peoples yard signs should show solidarity with more groups.
For those who don't know Will Witt and Amala Ekpunobi left PragerU, now Amala has her own RUclips channel.
Calling it now, within 10yrs the next Amala Ekpunobi will be artificially generated.
I came here expecting to see something different than the current maga party. This is just the same thing but in nicer clothes.
How do you not understand Astroturfing?
Lack of education = lack of knowledge
@@faranyk833 Lack of interest in times of www.

“In the last 5 years our idea of gender has shifted” uhm..you didn’t pay attention in biology class when they explained the difference between biological sex and gender and how it’s never been black and white.
Wonder the political affiliation of who taught you that.
"you didn’t pay attention in biology class when they explained the difference between biological sex and gender and how it’s never been black and white." Many biology classes around the world describe biological sex and gender as synonyms.
@@algernonsidney8746 in other countries, schools aren't full of leftist teachers.
The first criteria to be a conservative is to be ignorant.
@@adambram what was so ignorant? None of these ideas were extreme it was a diverse crowd that thinks they have good ideas that all seem to be in good faith. Besides the scary music it all seemed pretty fair
Willfully so.
The comments here are exactly why young people are turning to conservatism. The lack of understanding is off the charts...
Finally, a sane comment!
The people in the comments are mainly brain washed kids.
I was scrolling through the comments looking for something original and I guess you're right. Was I supposed to be morally outraged by this video or am I supposed to use an Amazon TV show to interpret all of reality?
As a gen z person. You could have said consensus instead of vibe in the title :/
Intellectual means you can learn and be accepting to new concepts and ideas. These people are NOT open or even able to grasp new concepts other than what’s in their echo chamber
First time I ever heard of a conservative welfare state. Next they’ll be talking up a neo conservative anti war movement 😂
The far right always appropriates left-wing messaging to con the working class into supporting them. See: the national socialist party.
I´m conservative and im anti-war and pro welfare state. Many people on the right think like this
@@mewandlife lol no they don’t
Lol this
@@savage_optimistwhy are you agreeing with this? Do you seriously not know of previous conservative welfare states?
Dude at 11:00 nail on the head. Labor was the front line in America for civil rights and for progress. The problem is government on either side is capitalism. Neither side is truth a labor party. Blue is just slightly better is all. And it isn’t enough.
100% focused on wedge issues to garner support, meanwhile workers rights are actively being stripped away while these social issues capture everyone’s attention
Nailed it
So basically they're European style conservatives. Nation-first, support your own people types. Family > Economy types. New to the US but to the rest of the world we're just catching up to the obvious.
I'm confused as to what the major concern is with this group of kids. I'm not a fan of PragerU but child tax credits sound good to me.
Is it a coincidence that political extremism rises when more and more young people don’t have personal relationships or close friends
Ayn Rand but not Karl Marx. Btw, Ayn Rand used social welfare benefits.
When Rand was interviewed about it, she said "I paid into it, I'm going to use it". Can't really blame her.
They all do.
@bwofficial1776 I see “Social benefits for _me_ … but not for thee” I believe a term exists for people like that, they’re called Hypocrites.
Like the left knows the very first thing about Karl Marx or workers. You only care about your little pathetic identity causes of the moment and the contempt you have reaped from millions of workers is entirely on you.
It took them 4 years to make a piece on prager U
Some of this honestly feels like a victory for the progressive movement. Many of us on the left have been saying for years that if Republicans really wanted to ban abortion, they would initiate policies that actually took care of the American family.
PragerU are a bunch of liars
I’m actually impressed that Vice for the most part made a fairly unbiased and informational video. I’m one of the people that they’re describing here. Gen Z raised in a liberal/center left household but became more conservative than my parents.
3:18 guy working hard to imitate his idol Ben Shapiro
this video is completely missing that American conservatism is moving extremely quickly to the far right. all of these shifts in social policy talked about in this video are literally trademarks of European fascism
Meanwhile the 24 year old is promoting a conservative welfare state… not sure how that’s fascism
This interviewer didn’t ask a single hard question.
Honestly.
Shows how closed off your minds are and you just wanted some "gotcha" to confirm your bias. He makes a salient point about the left lacking any type of labor initiative. Social economics was always the single most unifying tenant of the Liberal philosophy. You can't just throw that out entirely and not lose a part of your base. Such a simple concept that apparently falls on deaf ears. I will never ceased to be amazed about the lefts inability to recognize any sort of thought process outside their own. It has become a party of scolding and self-righteousness. Just read these comments. It's ALL snark and no substance. Exactly what the guy on the stairs was talking about.
Conservatives tend to be more emotional when they feel threatened. The interview would have stopped if she was too pointed in her questioning.
If they went too hard they'd be blacklisted and lose access. Conservatives are soft like that.
How can you ask a hard question, on a party that runs off vibes, and views conflict as a buzz kill?
“We have to manufacture conservative influencers because it’s not anything a young person would naturally gravitate to”
Mmmmm decently bipartisan coverage, Vice. Well done
I'm starting to get annoyed by how many previous episodes Vice is re-uploading start making new content again already or just stop uploading old stuff that is extremely outdated.
They shut down when they went bankrupt, this is the ghost of what Vice used to be

Gen Z in europe is in fact more on the right than the other generations.
@@sawtooth808 I wish the world could be more German.
First off don't compare American politics to that of Europe. Secondly younger Europeans are far more to the left/liberal and accepting than generations past. In fact when France codified abortion into its constitution it was unanimously by people across all political spectrums in the country.
@@gloriathomas3245 i never compared europe with america. Dont compare american politics with france. France is the only country who has abortion as a constitutional law.

Woke in general people being on far left, sort of authoritarian, full access to social media, media, school left wing agenda, movies, now video games too and so on, calling everything hate speech at the point it controls people what they should or not say, for example, i dont want mass immigration, this equals racism and fascism for the radicals etc even if you are on the moderate side, they went too far to the extreme, i just cant with this globalistic bullsh1t agenda also being pushed in europe.
Because people get banned on social media or fired for not believing in woke ideology

Culture war topics are all Trump and the GOP have. They have to try to make you afraid of progress and change. The left has their zealots too (language policing) but, typically their hearts are in the right place. Wanting people to be included, treated fairly, living standards, etc. I know who I’m going with.

8:22 She's mad about how the world portrays her identity, and mentions she rejects the victimhood mentality. Her points in those regards are valid. Victimhood, like many concepts, can be manipulated for the gains of bad players. Her view on affirmative action is a dead argument because the repercussions she mentions are still present without affirmative action. This is all people not knowing what they're truly mad about and gravitating to bad sides because they can't articulate why they are mad.
