Coming out of Brooklyn, Cortez has made a name for himself throughout the years and across various battle leagues throughout the world. Coming up through Grindtime, Tez never got the chance to sharpen his teeth against a lower tier of competition, instead starting off against emcees with high levels of talent such as Conceited and Soul Khan. Moving up through the ranks, Cortez started making bigger ripples in the pond after a classic showdown against Hitman Holla on the URL stage. Since then, the NYC representative has only improved his skills, traveling across the country as well as the world to battle in King of the Dot, Don't Flop and iBattle. Matching his high intensity delivery with knockout punchlines, Cortez is a seasoned veteran capable of knocking off anybody at any time. Making a return trip to California, Tez takes on Caustic in this next release from Battle of the Bay 6.
One of the more versatile emcees to battle on camera, Caustic has made a career out of being unpredictable. Able to switch effortlessly between his humorous demeanor and his aggressive one, the Union City resident catches opponents off guard before going in for the kill. Coming up alongside the rest of his Fresh Coast brethren, Caustic cut his teeth against opponents such as Cadalack Ron and Mic Phenom. Developing his talents for breaking individuals down via rhyme, Caustic has since been in the ring with the likes of Dizaster, Rone, and has had international matchups in both Canada as well as the U.K. Back to feature in his home state of California, Caustic squares off against Cortez in this clash from BOTB6.

I really liked the K shine vs Pass battle. So I think its a good thing their doing it. Head Ice vs Pat stay was decent. DNA vs Charron and Diz vs DNA was some of the best battles ive ever seen aswell. I feel you tho, I really like Big T but I don't feel like bender is a great match against him. And we'll see how that dbd vs clips battle goes

Never watched caustic much or looked for his battles but after reading loads of comments it sounds like hes mad sick but underrated so been checking out his battles hes next level sick! he has jokes that hurt and when he decides to go personal he literally body bags people
Cortez's first was okay, but still thought he lost the round. Caustic easily took the second. Third round...yeah, clearly Caustic. 3-0 Caustic, or 2-1. For all the Cortez lovers, you should understand that a bar doesn't have to include corny word play to be good.

Cortez rapped to the crowd, Caustic rapped at Cortez that difference in presentation has a big effect listening to their battle styles. That being said everyone probably has different opinions on how pleasant or more skillful each one sounded. At the end of the day Cortez used more intricate rhymes and good punchlines to state a case, while Caustic used a simple yet devastating flurry of sequence rhymes to T.K.O Cortez, technically close battle

I thought this was pretty dope battle, I'll give it this:
RD1: Caustic [I just liked his steez and he got into Cortez. Cortez had some clever bars, I just don't think it matched the lyrics + evil Caustic was bringing that round
RD2: Cortez [I just enjoyed his verse more, clever where Caustic didn't disappoint]
RD3: Caustic [I enjoyed how Cortez built his battle to this round, but I was MUCH more impressed with Caustic, the real savage, touching on some deep personals + that end to me...KILLED THE BATTLE, never seen anyone do Cortez like that with his own scheme.]

Sick battle. Imho Cortez use of the Arcane situation as an angle wasn't done effectively enough to warrant using such an obvious angle and his bars were too convoluted to have any resonance, where as Caustic had consistently direct angles and his bars were clever and though not technically as intricately crafted as Cortez', they did hit a lot harder. Caustic's third round body bagged Cortez imho, because Caustic's use of harsher and more believable personal angles than Cortez countered Cortez' own signature technique of building up to a third round of vicious personals. The fact that Cortez used personal angles with very similar topic matter in his third round as well, only served to validate Caustic's use of that specific approach and make it more effective. I would have voted 3-0 body bag Caustic.
Caustic had some dope lines...and I definitely agree with him that Cortez should not be dropping N bombs like he was black....

Andreas M I never said it was a bad angle, just displaying how both come off a bit weird. Clips' was horrible, especially since Dizaster used that angle first AND confined it two about 4 bars and it was far better. Caustic's was at least truthful(as far as I know) and was far more direct. Clips just seemed to be pandering for a laugh and attention cuz it was suss. Hell even Irons okay rebuttal to that was better.

Most of what Caustic delivered in the third round was nothing more than tabloid type gossip. Even if it is true, I'm not exactly sure why you'd want to rap about another man's penis for an entire round, even if it is in an attempt to make him look soft, no pun intended. Also, I expected Caustic to have more material prepared to counteract any Arcane references. His next few opponents will bring it up. On a different note, I liked the chess scheme that Cortez brought to the table.

I don't really fuck with him either, but this is one of those battles where bars do count and IMO, Cortez had bars every round. Caustic used to be good, but he hasn't progressed in the last few years at all, and he pretty much dry snitches almost every time now. I know it's a battle and nothing is off limits, but the dick jokes, mom jokes, and weak bars aren't cutting it anymore. Be honest people, if you're gonna judge this off one Round of dick jokes, then you probably shouldn't be watching battles.
