Thanks Michael! Little things- I love the shadow the rear 3 light cages cast on the blue fabric at the back.. and yes - Cesar has done a beautiful job with the oak!
Noble wood and great lightning, that's talking to me! I'm a very sensitive person to the mood and especially the lightning of a room, and i can say, even if you don't need it ahah, that I a 100% approve what you did here!
Looking forward to be swamped to death with details in the upcoming videos! You must be very proud of seeing your ideas becoming true, Paul, great job, and great job by the peeps at Studio Creations and Oak Tree Renovations
@@PaulThomsonMusic Looks great... one thing that would be helpful for us in future videos... can you please slow down your panning movements with the camera. You move way too fast with the camera, which can't catch up to what your eyes are processing.
Awesome insight into your studio build! Two queries if I may: Any intrinsic reasons for the position of your desk and the Barefoots on the horizontal plane?
What an amazing insight this has been. Also it is pretty scarey too, the amount of work involved and the total cost. Scarey may be an understatement lol. Well done for getting this far.
Looking marvelous. Great working space. Not at all envious : ) A small request: When all is set up I take for granted you will do a proper walkthrough each and every station of gear and show us some tips and tricks and how you feel everything is doing. Would be nice e.g. to hear what drum sound you get in the room etc etc. Ooh here's what you should do: Mic up your drum kit and record it to your tape machine and do a mix. By itself or in context with some other music perhaps. Great opportunity to see how you mic drums and treat it in a mix.
It's looking really good. They better label very single cable :) This looks like a wonderful studio. You briefly mention that it sounds good; I'm very much looking forward to your impression on the real room. If possible, I would be very interested in hearing a bit about the thought process that want into controlling the room-sound as the room currently does not seem especially treated.
amazing space!! do you know the name of the type of fabric used to cover the walls and also the colour? looks great and would love to get some of it for my modest future build. Thanks
I was wondering if you were going to get the M10 remote for your Bricasti M7 and I think I saw the box for it on one of your shelves. Definitely worth checking out Reverb Foundry’s M7 Link plug-in to control the M7 from within your DAW
Yes I got the M10 - some things I prefer on the physical desktop - its a luxury though I know and one I've saved up for..! Got my M7 used from my mate the fabulous Trevor Morris so its got a good pedigree!
How are you managing a quiet computer/rack setup? Particularly the computer and the connection back to the machine room, what's the specific cabeling there? Do you have any spinning hard drives (e.g. for backup), how do you connect to them? What do you keep your samples on? For reference I have a couple Pegasus units with drives that I keep in a pseudo quiet cabinet in the studio, ideally I'd run Thunderbolt back to a machine room but don't have a reliable, fast way of doing that.
Paul, thanks for sharing! I'm curious how you're routing microphones into your preamps. Plugging in directly on an ad hoc basis? Running through a wall patch panel into the main patch bays (any phantom power issues with this approach)?
Hey Paul I'm noticing that the keyboard side meaning the direction where you compose in, is facing a glass door. I find this unique as we usually have a wall near by to mount a big screen to project the picture you'll be working on. That being said could you share some light on how you're planning the mount of the picture screen? It's looking gorgeous by the way
wow. mindblown. its stunning Paul. I was going to ask about power solutions and how everything was getting wired in, but that shot round the back is perfect to illustrate how they are doing it. One question I have is do you notice any big buildup of bass in the rear or corners? thats always been my trouble spot in my studio with bass going to the corners and wondered if the room being the size it is, will cause less bass buildup?. Keep em coming, love these videos.
Hey Paul... apologies if this was covered previously, but it would be great to know more about the process he went through for acoustics testing, and anything he found. Also whether you or he have any experience with the Genelec SAM system, and if so any thoughts on that in terms of offering an out-the-box solution (obviously coupled with physically treating the room as best you can)
Very cool. Pretty please slow down the camera movement by half. I kept having to pause the video and still couldn't see details. Specific question. Are the keyboard shelves adjustable with French cleats or some such?
Looks amazing Paul! Have you considered the UAD OX box for the heads? It's an attenuator and speaker simulator? If not I highly suggest it. I've been using one for the last year and am completely blown away
Beatiful Paul!!!!!! Congrats!!!! Now.... how much money have you spent in the studio already??? Close to half of a mil right?? :) Cheers mate!! Marco from Uruguay
Beautiful, simply beautiful
Oh boy! The mood is fantastic and the furniture is so beautiful!

It is all starting to come together and I do like the wood finishing on the desk, nice.
Thanks! Its Oak - the Studio Creations guy Cesar has done a fabulous job.. really beautifully made and detailed
Wow really taking off now. Like the natural look of the wood.
Good filming! Great studio in progress! Thanks for sharing with us!
Beautiful looking space Paul, very tasteful materials and colours
Thanks Jim! Got my wife to thank for interiors advice!
That looks absolutely phenomenal, Paul. Congratulations!
Thanks Dan - its been a long journey - nearly at the finish line!
As far as studios go, I think even Hans Zimmer might get jealous! You’re a lucky chap Paul! Let me know if you ever need a house/studio sitter! 🤪

I could have watched another hour of that. Amazing Paul 🤙
Thanks Dean - I will be going into much more detail over the coming weeks and months (some might say painful detail)

Can't wait to see the finished space!
Absolutely terrific! I am speechless. Wish you great things!
Wow!!! What an amazing space. 👍
Looking beautiful Paul
Looking beautiful!
What an office to work in!!!
Love it! Great vibe!

exciting Paul!

Great stuff Paul...I hope that you get that meter sorted out with Scottish Power before it's all ready for you to shout 'rolling'!
Really coming along nicely, Paul. Makes my head hurt to look at all the wiring :-)

Hi, looks great! What are the interior dimentions ? Thanks
I have been wondering the same thing
nice build, i might do one.......wait on i dont have a spare half a mill!
Such a beautiful space. Tim Walker looks exactly as I remember him from 20 years ago at university ... I do not.
My question is where to find the best fabric and track system and what type of sound or feel u look for in a tuned room....Love wht u guys did
Very exciting! I'm sure somebody asked already, but why don't use the loft? such an amazing space that's inaccessible.

Hi Paul. I'd be interested to see how you've handled the air conditioning, particularly controlling the noise.
Did you reevaluate any gear or workflow before moving and wiring everything into this new space? What pieces did you replace or leave out, and why?

You could boost the audio a bit more in post tho.. great video, loving the progress
Thanks Jethro noted!! Once I'm back in the studio lol... it will be better!
Plz make video and how you connect all the gigs

Hi, Paul! Which patchbay do you use?
Hi Pavlo - they are M&M 96 way bantams.
Paul Thomson great! thank you!
Aside all the audio rig, how much is it costing to make it? Assembly, cables, furnitures, power, etc....

I would like the same Studio I am Ivory coast
Show us yer new bog Paul.
So, where do you get your millions?
