There are many things in which we place our hope - jobs, money, homes, family .... Unless we place our hope in Christ, everything in this life will fail us. Been trying to memorize the lyrics as one way for this truth to never leave me. Hoping the words bring you comfort
Luke 14:33 (KJV) "[33] So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple." This includes us. Jesus told His disciples to teach us all to do all things whatsoever Jesus told them to do. Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV) "[19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Christ told us to sell what we have and give the proceeds to the poor. Live by faith in obedience to what Jesus taught, teaching others to do the same. The early Christians sold what they had and gave it to the poor. Acts 2:44-45 (KJV) "[44] And all that believed were together, and had all things common; [45] And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need." They didn't just do this for the fun of it. They did it because it is something Jesus taught, one of His commandments. Matthew 6:24-34 (KJV) "[24] No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. [25] Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? [26] Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? [27] Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? [28] And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: [29] And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. [30] Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? [31] Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? [32] (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. [33] But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. [34] Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." Christians follow Christ. Obey Him.
When i lost my mum this song was the only song that comforted my soul This was the only song i could sing It keeps coming and coming to my heart to sing. Jesus Christ is Lord and the Rock of my salvation in Him i trust. Be wise today and build your all on the Rock that never fails. Amen.
Dear Angel, When my Mum died it was her faith in Christ that stopped me from being without comfort. We had this scripture read at her funeral: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 which begins: "Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope". Being reunited with my Mum has become part of my hope in Christ, my wonderful Saviour and friend. God Bless.
My condolences to you and your family. Mom went 2 months ago today and my prayer for her is that she is in glory. She never loved God in her life so I pray she had a death bed salvation.
Hello 👋 Wendy, How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I'm Zack Hudson and am from Denver Colorado, where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
On Christ the solid Rock I stand! This rings so true! All other ground is sinking stand. We as believers cannot lean or stand on anything else other than Jesus... if we do... we are setting up ourselves for complete failure. To God alone be all glory, honor, and praise! Thank God for saving me from the sinking sand!
Woke up this morning with this tune playing in my mind and the words of the first verse. What a great song to be singing during these difficult times our nation and world are facing.
Paul Campbell. Without a doubt this is absolutely my favorite hymn. It is additionally inspiring hearing men singing it - wouldn't it be great if all men were disciples and disciple makers - God's way. And women and young people also become His disciples and disciple makers.
I love this song. God truly brings the hymns to memory. From childhood, I grew up on our church hymns and I find myself singing them periodically because they truly mean and meant so much through the years. I wish the churches today, will bring our young people up singing the hymns.
My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness. I trust him totally even as my worship and honor to HIM separates me from my extended family.
pocahontas reese I can relate to that and I'm praying for you. Jesus will never fail you. Walk in love towards your family and in due season they will be won over for God's glory 😇
My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ the solid rock. Even when all other grounds are sinking I still trust in You Oh Lord... for You will never ever fail me!

Glory to your name JESUS Forever. Amen!

God is wonderful in that way. I am not surprised that our dearest LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ gave you this song, during your greatest trial, because, He is Our Greatest Healer and Deliverer! It was the same for me. It sustained me like Spiritual food and the battle eventually came to an end. There is always Victory when we place our hope and faith in Jesus. Amen.
When i was a kid, my church would sing this and i would follow along in the hymn books... I really miss going to East View, maybe one day ill go back...
Yo are no longer sinful if you are in Christ, you are the righteousness of God, even if you sin, God still sees you as his righteousness, that's what the song is saying
This was the first of 3 hymns that my Dad chose to be sung at his funeral last year. I miss him, but I know that he is resting in the presence of his Lord, God and Saviour that is Christ, Jesus :)
Lord Jesus Christ, In YOU I place my Hope!!! ` "Christ died for our sins -according to the scriptures: And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures" 1 Cor.15: 1-4

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. This is to all denominations: If Jeremiah 23:1-6 and/or 33:14-18 is your Scripture for the Day, this is a good hymn to compliment it.
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (June 16, Pentecost 4), I filled in at a local Presbyterian and Lutheran Church. At the Presbyterian Church, I played this as the Hymn of Faith. At the Lutheran Church, I played it as the Closing Hymn. It is #596 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.
The person speaking is their director I would think anyway. Many speak out the words prior to the singers actually singing as a guidance. He wasn't trying to speak over them. I have seen other choir directors do that. It is simply their way. The singing was beautiful and the message of God always is fantastic and true. All good here folks.

We're so blessed that we don't have to hope on anything less
I don't see anything wrong with the song leader putting a couple of ad-libs in the song. I thought it was kind of nice.
Heaven and earth will pass away but my word will not pass away.
In the beginning was the word and the word was God and the word was with God and the word was made flesh and dwelt among us.
Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

All other ground will definitely sink.Christ is the only solid rock on which I stand
The person speaking is their director I would think anyway. Many speak out the words prior to the singers actually singing as a guidance. He wasn't trying to speak over them. I have seen other choir directors do that. It is simply their way. The singing was beautiful and the message of God always is fantastic and true. All good here folks.
I truly love this song, truly Jesus is our solid Rock
