Old CoDs, MoHs or even Battlefield didn't take much care about historical accuracy and historical events were mostly a inspiration. "So where is the problem?", you would ask. Problem is that from what we can see from trailer WW2 doesn't look like WW2. Total lack of atmosphere. The same problem was with Battlefield 1. If devs didn't say that this game is WW1 themed then I would find it difficult to guess that. Problem was about design of maps, soldiers, weapons. 80% of all equipment were mostly prototypes or produced in very low amount and seeing this stuff as a common thing completely destroys a feeling of WW1. Game Verdun somehow did that right, so why not in Battlefield? Unfortunately there is a total paradox with new CoDs and Battlefields. Technically they're PEGI 18+, so for adults, but all "features" that are put in these games show clearly that these games are made for 8-13 year olds. About "SJW shit" i was saying in my comment. 1942 was epic for it's time, none have matched it's scale or impact. 2142 deserves an honorable mention for trying something interesting and having Titan mode. BF2 introduced some fundamental mechanics but was also deeply flawed, redeemed only by it's mod support. BC2 was great...if you just want to play Rush, as infantry, on rural maps and destroy the same 3 copy-pasted-buildings, over-and-over - otherwise it was a stopgap prototype for BF3.
I think I recognized about three of those movies. Saving Private Ryan, Pearl Harbour and maybe A Bridge Too Far. I have missed out on many war movies it seems.
BF1942 is still going strong in 2018, it was released as a free to play game in 2011 by EA to celebrate the 10th anniversary of it´s initial release back in 2002. As of june 2018 you can find many populated servers playing both vanilla and modded versions of the game, Personally I recommend the EA117.com server where we play the "Desert Combat" mod every night. Desert Combat started as a mod setting the basis for what would eventually become Battelfield 2,BC2,3, and 4; despite the original BF1942 engine being really dated by today´s standards it holds really well because gameplay depends mostly on skill without any kind of assist. In our case (EA117) battles have no bots, so 12 vs 12 (on average) rounds are a challenge and get very fast paced.....
