I get chills every time I watch this. What an incredible intro. No fast cuts, no weird electronic music, no edginess. Just an amazing, tone-setting overview of the war. The machines of war flying over the heads of the innocent civilians, the menacing tank slowly rolling through the ruins, the hundreds of parachutes in the sky - a human life suspended from each one, making its way down to earth where the fighting will continue. It actually gets me misty-eyed. I wish Battlefield could have stayed this way but after BF1 it just hasn't felt like Battlefield anymore.
its a very inhuman trailer, only chosing to show the machines of war that are going to battle as if you are going to control them, with the superb soundtrack is almost perfect
battlefield 5 came back i think. but then they lost it with 2042. they had one job, they literally could of copied their own homework from 20 years ago yet here we are
Me, my father, and my little brother all had the game installed on our computers. I played in my first clan, in a league called "Up north". Great times.
I think what I love most about this intro is the scale of it. For me, it really captured the feel of a titanic struggle between all of humanity. Even the desolate expanse of an uninhabitable desert becoming strategically important, ships consisting of tons of resources built for war instead of fleets of tractors to plow land, the ominous overflight of planes as the cloud of global struggle casts its shadow over the common man, massive forces crossing the planet with one singular goal above all other ambitions, the untouched depths of the sea exploited as a tactical dimension to the unyielding conflict, countless boys and men dutifully going into harm's way as much for the salvation of mankind as their nation's call, and the universal reach of the war when something as simple as a truck is repurposed from industry or agriculture into a weapon of destruction. That, and the soundtrack is epic.
MouseDenton The gameplay was brilliant. Hollywoodian fights like we could see in CoD, MoH... never gave me the feeling that the fate of the whole battle would be definitely sealed depending on the taking or the loss of ONE particular outpost, bridge, hill... making every fight relentless as fuck.
Well, let me be honest, this intro was golden for its day, but could have used more animation. Like in 1:31 when the Japanese torpedo bombers are flying at the American ships, I would have expected a lotta more planes around, as well as heavy AA gun fire and shells exploding in the sky as the bombers go on. I guess its due to the limited CGI of the time, but. As it stands now, it's still great and the theme is perfect and goosebumping enough.
It's amazing how emotional this intro is even though it barely shows any actual people onscreen. Somehow their personal sacrifice and suffering is conveyed almost entirely through the places and vehicles shown.
Omg I’m so sorry dude, I totally just replied to the wrong person! Honestly tho I’m laughing out loud rn, that was such a good comeback. Again, real sorry, I hope you have a good day my dude!!

I find this a wonder to watch, but I grew up on its year younger brother, 1943. That was the fun stuff. No unlockables. No special killstreaks and perks. Just skill, rank, and fun. Nothing else. You will never get a game like that, ever again in the world...
😭😭 same bro got a ryzen 5 5600x and rtx 3070 but I still can't play the games which I purchased from my pocket money when I was a kid only to find out that my old pc was garbage and my pc is too new to play those old titles
It still works fine, playing ok on Win10. You just need the no-cd and wide-screen patch. Also the master server workaround if you want to relive nostalgia online with other folks.
Theres ways to make it work. Im turning my old PC into a retro gaming rig with windows xp so I dont have to dick around so much getting those games to work
I played this game on day 1. Back in the days I was too poor to afford the right computer. I played with a laggy computer I managed to salvage and played on extra low resolution. Battlefield 1942 was the first game where you could use vehicles like that. It was magical and everyone playing it felt the same way. The community was the strongest and most passionate I have ever seen. Later, I joined a clan and we played with mods such as Desert Combat and Forgotten Hope
@gabp590 it was crazy being able to drive vehicles on a map like that. It was like, is this real? this is allowed? this isn't breaking physics?? my computer can stand this? like.. what ? ??
@ I would literally pay $1000 for a modern reskin of 1942, Vietnam or BF2. I'm pretty sure the old school fans would do the same. Why is EA not interested in our money? I used to give them money before they changed the game at its core, as they did in BF3. It was a good game, don't get me wrong. But it wasn't Battlefield. Single player with bots was gone. Maps got smaller. There were no mods. We lost some soldier classes, such as anti-tank. The 2006 installment of 2142 was the last OG Battlefield game.
O man dont get me started. Ripping it up with my clan on a Stalingrad & Berlin 24/7 (pure) ctf server. While speaking on ventrilo or teamspeak. Practicing for our next skrim. These where the best gaming days for me. It will never be the same
after playing BF4 and listening to the theme tune, I always come back to this just to watch the intro. So much nostalgia with this theme tune good god.
Igor Dugonjic for some time? its not gunna be free for ever now. Only true bf vets would use money on a 11 year old bf game. : ] I remember playing it baaaack in the days, sooo much fun.
haha omg same xD i got all the battlefields cause i love them lol but honestly i love battlefield 1942 best.. i played when i was little adn i still play now xD
If you had told me back in 2002 that gaming would get worse with time, I would have thought you were crazy. There was no indication that gaming would get worse. How could there be in a world in which BF1942 is a new release at Best Buy?
this intro has taken a separate space in my mind.. its 2023 and this song still gives me the same chill as it had my first time.. only a true gamer from our era can feel the respect for this game. this intro serves as an anthem to us!!!
33booyaka33 well, BF1 seems better to me. and before you hate me, I'm going to say that because it is almost identical to 1942 etc. except modernized (by that i mean the gameplay, engine, etc) and has much funner vehicles. not to mention it miraculously runs on my potato computer at 30 frames and still has good graphics. (it's a laptop with Nvidia GeForce gt 750m, which is somewhere near and below the Nvidia GeForce gtx 450 in power)
33booyaka33 even more miraculous is that that's not even at 800 x 600 resolution. at that resolution, I barely get dead by daylight to run at 15 frames, 20 frames.
Aside from the obvious aesthetics, I'm a great fan of the perfect synchronisation of the music with the corresponding video parts. Around 0:36; the two most distingushable trumpet notes seem to mimic bombing alert sirens 0:43, view changes to navy and so does the "mood" of the trumpets The explosion at 0:51 Helmet at 1:12 Last three rockets around 1:24 Close view to diving fighters between 1:30 and 1:32 with notes somewhat resembling the fussilade Even the two torpedoes going off at around 1:38 Perhaps even more, but those I found particularly satisfying.
I just got this on Origin yesterday since I was curious and have never played a Battlefield game before... GOD I LOVE IT! Especially this intro! Just gives me chills every time I start up the game.
If you need a comparison of how western society changed... You just need to watch this intro and then watch the Battlefield V trailer. It's absolutely insane.
SplendidFactor For real we we’ve changed our views on how Video games should focus on wacky innacurate and lesser known crap and just make games that have to do with real conflicts “Fun” instead of actually showing us what it was actually like to be a part of something like WW2 or whatever
The music at the end omg. Pure vibes. This takes me back to childhood playing it. Still think it's the best battlefield to date. Exited to see what battlefield 2042 is going to be like though. This intro is my fave and I never skipped it once. 🖤
And now that we have seen how absolutely quality piss-poor EA's new BF2042 is... I wish I was back in 2008. Maybe childhood nostalgia in general, but BF1942 was an amazing game for its time!
yeahh, the golden era of content, based on pure content but not the graphics ❤, only they could have remastered 1942 into BF5, but they didnt and got mixed into shit
I do. These truly were different times... Now it's all about quantity and quick half-arsed money grabs. No effort, no passion, no quality. The whole things has become a heartless mass-production corporate money-making-machine circus.... and this applies to almost all of society since 2016-2018, not just games.
When we were children and went to computer clubs for a night game session until the morning - I restarted Battlefield several times in order to watch and listen to IT in full. goosebumps !!!
When I first heard this theme, I had it stuck in my head the entire night. I literally couldn't sleep how obsessed I was with this game and the music in particular.
I remember the time when this game had just been released and I was playing it online with my friends at an internet cafe. Now I have no contact with those friends, and my family has all gone before me.
i was watching this with a big smile on my face because when i used to play this it was the happiest time of my life, i miss my friends on those lobbies
Man, tthe nostalgia made me shed tears. This game was the reason I fell in love with WWII FPS games and BF series when I was a kid, I remember used to not skip the intro everytime I start the game, the good all days man :(
Best thing about this intro, everything in it you can actually do in game. Even all the vehicles you seen, is actually in the game. Of course it depends on the map you play and what type of vehicles you will get, but its still in the game.
I really thought gaming would get better with time. Boy was I wrong! This lack of evolution seems almost deliberate if I didn't know any better. They really wanted us entertained in 2002. As a result we got the best games. Nothing has ever defeated the original BF installments. BF2142 from 2006 was the last one.
Looks like everyone is watching these old trailers and intros after finished watching Battlefield 2042. Can't deny though, they are really astonishing.
My first online experience, my first clan, my first online friends... I will never forget this and the start game music, on the connect to server screen.... and the clanbase website where we set up the matches... God, I'm old!
2002: Alright, we need to make some exciting background audio that goes well with the theme and makes one's blood rush 2016: F*ck it, just play dubstep
Legendary fucking game. Played it when I was fucking 10 years old. Now I`m fucking 25 years old and I miss this time so fucking much. The Intro is still giving me fucking goosebumps, truly a 10/10 gaming experience.
Ahhh those old days... Where there was Medal Of Honour,Call Of Duty,Orginal Battlefields, and the wonderful flight simulatours,ALSO THE GOLDEN AGE OF THE RESIDENT EVIL! It was the golden age of the gaming Until... Now in 2015 what do we have here... WONDERFUL AND AMAZING ''GOAT'' SIMULATOUR,SHIITY CALL OF DUTYS AND BAD BATTLEFIELDS,MOH DIED THANKS TO EA,AND RESIDENT EVIL IS ALSO DYING THANKS TO CAPCOM,ALL THANKS TO EA,ACIVISION,UBISOFT AND CAPCOM. It's probably ''THE DARK AGE OF GAMING''.
***** I did,it was a good old school game, ending was very tragic but ok. But,it's only one game, every other great title is getting destroyed,by the hand of their makers.
These truly were different times... Now it's all about quantity and quick money grabs. No effort, no passion, no quality. The whole things has become a heartless mass-production corporate money-making-machine circus.... and this applies to almost all of society since 2016-2018, not just games.
I am starting to feel old.. I remember a better time, when videogames were made to satisfy customer experience, built with quality and passion rather than quick-half-arsed money grabs, DLCs and quantity over quality. This doesn't just apply to games, but the entirety of society. Everything has just been degrading ever since... I don't think we will ever see such good times again, I will forever miss the 2000s.
Fr. Look at games these days. Clown themed outfits, money buying shits, dlc, hundreds of gigs in size. Man, games are getting doomed and failing to give the actual enjoyment.
Sadly I fear you are right. I want to believe that gaming will improve. But I see no evidence at this time. Back in 2002 when I was playing this game, I just assumed that gaming in the future was going to be just as fun, but with even better graphics. Boy was I wrong! All EA had to do was reskin BF1942. That's it. The game would have sold itself. No one advertised BF1942 to me. I saw it at Best Buy and bought it. The rest is history.
they should remake this game. and i know a bunch of you are thinking of the frostbite engine and all that shit, but no! just a little better graphics and the ability to aim down the sights. thats it, thats all we need.
you probably mean gamespy, but yeah. i think they were the ones to shut down the servers. but after that EA took the game down completely. they dont sell it anymore at all. so i just wish they would get some new servers up or remake this game. (but not into one of those shitty bf3/bf4 type of games)
nikofinman buddy you ca adownload bf1942 full game legaly it was offered by origin now it has been taken down but you can still download it from modb and i know gamespy was shut dwon but i always get 15 servers who use a third party gamespy/solution and you can download forgotten hope 0.7 (bf1942 mod) who is twice the fun as bf1942 if you want i can give you the link

Anyone else who came here to cry some nostalgia tears after the Battlefield V reveal trailer? :'(
Me desperately digging up my old disk only to find out my pc is too new to play it
😭😭 same bro got a ryzen 5 5600x and rtx 3070 but I still can't play the games which I purchased from my pocket money when I was a kid only to find out that my old pc was garbage and my pc is too new to play those old titles
It still works fine, playing ok on Win10. You just need the no-cd and wide-screen patch. Also the master server workaround if you want to relive nostalgia online with other folks.
Theres ways to make it work. Im turning my old PC into a retro gaming rig with windows xp so I dont have to dick around so much getting those games to work
This must have been so mindblowing back in 2002
It was.
RoswellReid you have no idea. I remember installing it and my entire body turning into a carpet of goosebumps when that started playing :P
CloakingDonkey OH DAMN ! :(
RoswellReid it was :D
RoswellReid Us kids sh!t our trowsers.
Back than these CGI graphics we're best evah.
IMO: BF1942 still best BF to date!
Forgotten Hope was the freaking best!
The Lazy Bastards clan here.
@gabp590 it was crazy being able to drive vehicles on a map like that. It was like, is this real? this is allowed? this isn't breaking physics?? my computer can stand this? like.. what ? ??
@@Arcexey The freedom, options and variety were out of this world!
@@derp8575 looking back like people would hate that game because it wasn’t pin point accuracy or gun skins etc
The 2006 installment of 2142 was the last OG Battlefield game.
i remember when old games have intros like this
as an 35-year old game veteran, i have tears...

So much nostalgia with this theme tune good god.
i would like BF5 will return to this Era ...
Igor Dugonjic for some time? its not gunna be free for ever now. Only true bf vets would use money on a 11 year old bf game. : ] I remember playing it baaaack in the days, sooo much fun.
haha omg same xD i got all the battlefields cause i love them lol but honestly i love battlefield 1942 best.. i played when i was little adn i still play now xD
aND HOW IS THAT WORKING OUT FOR YA?
Remember when no unlocks and all content available from day 1?
exactly.
If you had told me back in 2002 that gaming would get worse with time, I would have thought you were crazy. There was no indication that gaming would get worse. How could there be in a world in which BF1942 is a new release at Best Buy?
When the music has got it's own emotion, that's when you've done a good job.
this intro has taken a separate space in my mind.. its 2023 and this song still gives me the same chill as it had my first time.. only a true gamer from our era can feel the respect for this game.
this intro serves as an anthem to us!!!
I came here to pretend this is the BF5 trailer.
Still best Battlefield.
finealey some one else who thinks that bf1942 is the game EA has made
33booyaka33 well, BF1 seems better to me. and before you hate me, I'm going to say that because it is almost identical to 1942 etc. except modernized (by that i mean the gameplay, engine, etc) and has much funner vehicles. not to mention it miraculously runs on my potato computer at 30 frames and still has good graphics.
Still the best game

Aside from the obvious aesthetics, I'm a great fan of the perfect synchronisation of the music with the corresponding video parts.
Around 0:36; the two most distingushable trumpet notes seem to mimic bombing alert sirens
0:43, view changes to navy and so does the "mood" of the trumpets
The explosion at 0:51
Helmet at 1:12
Last three rockets around 1:24
Close view to diving fighters between 1:30 and 1:32 with notes somewhat resembling the fussilade
Even the two torpedoes going off at around 1:38
Perhaps even more, but those I found particularly satisfying.
I’m glad someone selected has an eye open for theses incredible renders.
I'm so happy someone else notices it and gets satisfaction from it, It's really nice.
still gives me goosebumps whatching this after all these years
I just got this on Origin yesterday since I was curious and have never played a Battlefield game before... GOD I LOVE IT! Especially this intro! Just gives me chills every time I start up the game.
If you need a comparison of how western society changed... You just need to watch this intro and then watch the Battlefield V trailer. It's absolutely insane.
SplendidFactor Fuck Genderfield V
this , miss the old days :(
Battleshitfield is gonna to be total crap
What? Clint Eastwood's films re-released with Michael Bay as the new director?
SplendidFactor For real we we’ve changed our views on how Video games should focus on wacky innacurate and lesser known crap and just make games that have to do with real conflicts “Fun” instead of actually showing us what it was actually like to be a part of something like WW2 or whatever
Chills go down my spine everytime that submarine at the end passes...
Imagine this game in the new Frostbite Engine. With destruction, lighting, graphics. Come on DICE, make people love you even more
They did this once on Xbox 360, BF 194*3*
+Joe Beans but not in european theatre :(
Air Everywhere Sadly, thats true...
coming soon
Uh I have BF1943 on my PS3...
Watching this after bfv trailer , cried.
Wer ist er?
And not a single game has made an intro which I wouldn't skip since...
Brings back so many memories. Remember when games launched complete with lots of content?
yeahh, the golden era of content, based on pure content but not the graphics ❤, only they could have remastered 1942 into BF5, but they didnt and got mixed into shit
I do. These truly were different times... Now it's all about quantity and quick half-arsed money grabs. No effort, no passion, no quality. The whole things has become a heartless mass-production corporate money-making-machine circus.... and this applies to almost all of society since 2016-2018, not just games.
i miss this game so much, they need to remake it in all its glory every map was huge and so playable.
battlefield 1942 remastered would make my life worth it.
***** battlefield 1942 is origin under free games... (german store)
Sweet :)
Manuel Lackner Yeah but a remastered version would be glorious.
I've been playing it all week its brilliant, took me a while to remember how I had my controls setup, flying the ww2 planes is so much fun.
I used to watch this intro every time I launched the game. Legitimately every time. The theme is so iconic. Ah, the nostalgia.
When we were children and went to computer clubs for a night game session until the morning - I restarted Battlefield several times in order to watch and listen to IT in full. goosebumps !!!
Как самолёта красиво летят, хотел бы я побывать в то время, почувствовать на себе эти ужасы войны
When I first heard this theme, I had it stuck in my head the entire night. I literally couldn't sleep how obsessed I was with this game and the music in particular.
Came here after the disappointment of the Battlefield V trailer just to remind myself what a proper ww2 battlefield was like...
BF1942, BF Vietnam, COD 1-3, and Madden were literally my childhood. God, I miss those days
Bf1942 and MOH Allied Assault were my childhood
its damn right
BF1942, Runescape, CoD 1 and 3, Medal of Honor Allied Assault and Medal of Honor Vanguard
+Runertje550 allied assault and vanguard were amazing
+chaosXP3RT Yup plus CS 1.6/Source.
First video game i ever played. I was 7 the first time i saw that intro, great memories
I remember the time when this game had just been released and I was playing it online with my friends at an internet cafe. Now I have no contact with those friends, and my family has all gone before me.
After seeing battlefield 5 trailer i had to watch this masterpiece just to feel better
Best BF intro and best BF game. The old school !
This is like the first video game I ever played when I was a lot younger, so many good memories.
i was watching this with a big smile on my face because when i used to play this it was the happiest time of my life, i miss my friends on those lobbies

BF1942 forever
Man, tthe nostalgia made me shed tears.
This game was the reason I fell in love with WWII FPS games and BF series when I was a kid, I remember used to not skip the intro everytime I start the game, the good all days man :(
BF1942 is the only game I keep on coming back to for constant 12 years.
I FUCKING WANT BATTLEFIELD WW2 GAMES AGAIN.
don't we all
that would be awesome
You can reinstall them for free (any platform, but not ps4 and xb1(xbox 1)
Same here! would love to hear the old theme too!
IKR!
Best thing about this intro, everything in it you can actually do in game. Even all the vehicles you seen, is actually in the game. Of course it depends on the map you play and what type of vehicles you will get, but its still in the game.
It's been years I played it a lot and never got bored. True Nostalgia.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BF1942 U CREATED THE SERIES OF BATTLEFIELDS!!!!!
living proof of humanity going back at time... these were best times for everything, wish we could be same as when we first played this masterpiece
This game was my childhood, my god I miss this
+Joran Geeraerts I played it from when I was 6 to 11. I would play this and age of empires 3 all day. Good old days..

Looks like everyone is watching these old trailers and intros after finished watching Battlefield 2042. Can't deny though, they are really astonishing.
Even in 2015 this is still the best original battlefield game alive
used to have it. lost the second disk and died cause couldnt play anymore. such a good childhood
Even in 2017..
Today 2023 and we online still alive, and waiting for the good old veterans and clans.
2025 here, and still there has not been one Battlefield better than 1942, Vietnam and 2.
Nostalgia ;-;

This theme is like a national anthem. Every time I hear it, I feel an urge to stand up and salute.
My first online experience, my first clan, my first online friends... I will never forget this and the start game music, on the connect to server screen.... and the clanbase website where we set up the matches... God, I'm old!

God I miss game intros like this. Plain and simple without too much unnecessary flash, but still totally bad ass
This was the reason we built our first gaming PC with an Athlon XP Barton 2400 processor, 512 MB DDR 400 RAM and an ATI Radeon X800XT Graphics Card!
2002: Alright, we need to make some exciting background audio that goes well with the theme and makes one's blood rush
2016: F*ck it, just play dubstep
Back when people cares about game theme songs and they weren't just a tradition that SOMETIMES APPARENTLY they get right. Love the newest one.
😂😂
Have you guys heard the BF1 theme? If you haven't search for it and give it a listen, it's really good.
Efforts people.. efforts. so many efforts to build the feeling of the game was so good. Thesedays meh.
imo, I have bf1 and I feel that they don't play the theme music enough in the menus
like they did in the earlier battlefields...

It was the golden age of the gaming
Until...
Yeah, but it's the age of rpg's. Just look at skyrim, dark souls, bloodborne, dragon age: origins, they're all awesome
manuelhenriqu3 Yeah, but what for us,what for FPS gamers?
Nothing but a bunch of expensive shitty games.
MYPD SHP Yeah :/ you should try insurgency though, not very expensive, but fun.
I just wish they would do WWII games again
***** I did,it was a good old school game, ending was very tragic but ok.
But,it's only one game, every other great title is getting destroyed,by the hand of their makers.
Not all is lost. Look at The Witcher. Or Skyrim.
The song.. I remember my brother playing this alot.
same case here....elder brother used to play and I used to sit and watch...
When i first saw this, it was one of those things where its so good you have no idea what to do
When i watched bf 5 trailer and after watched this i started crying...

My nostalgia... Will remember in my mind
they should remake this game. and i know a bunch of you are thinking of the frostbite engine and all that shit, but no! just a little better graphics and the ability to aim down the sights. thats it, thats all we need.
and im only saying this because the game apparently got taken down? just when i was about to buy it again... fuck you EA...
It's not EA the company that owed the servers shut down and I think it was Gamespot
you probably mean gamespy, but yeah. i think they were the ones to shut down the servers. but after that EA took the game down completely. they dont sell it anymore at all. so i just wish they would get some new servers up or remake this game. (but not into one of those shitty bf3/bf4 type of games)
The masterserver was shut down. The servers work normally. You just need to know the IP-address of the server you want to join.
