the other players that went before during the drill and are walking into the next group should learn to run to the sideline and learn to stay out of the way. that's how they play in games you notice that when a play is developing a idk what I'm doing or where I'm supposed to be clog's up that lane or play by bringing their defender to the ball so there's a clusterfuck in that area.

that drill could be done so so much better to provide better skill development .. and the execution by the girls is awful in the majority of sequences shown, but especially at the start.. No doubt they are elite players, but they're not being held accountable to good fundamentals and developing poor habits IMO

@@aussiesurfer805 What suggestions did you actually make? You just kind of criticized and gave no actual details.

@@alejandrosuarez5540 although I didn’t go into actual alternates to make the drill better, it’s clear you don’t ball at an elite level, because the words to make that particular drill better are right there in my comments …. of course it is just my opinion., but why i saw was “poor execution”, a “lack of focus on fundamentals”, and players “not being held accountable” for that … sorry if that confuses your mid-week social baller knowledge … but my comment wasn’t aimed at people of your level …

@@aussiesurfer805 I just want you to state one specific thing that you see as lacking fundamentals... I am a high school basketball coach, former college basketball player, but I don't pretend to know it all or to be able to notice it all.

ok - i’m feeling generous - you don’t know how lucky you are ….
dribbling on the spot (going nowhere) whilst waiting for an on-ball screen… moving before the on-ball screen arrives and is set … shooting your jump shot and giving up on the play while the ball is in the air … . when using a two step stop for a pull up jump shot (not an ideal way these days but ok to use as. long as u can do a jump stop pull up as well) stepping feet in the wrong order (seems some players perhaps can’t do left right and right left never mind both ways and a jump shot as well - but i didn’t look at the individuals) …
ideally run that drill for no more than 2 or 3 mins .. before bringing in defence …(even if it’s token at first ) why do it without defence unless your actively teaching and working on fundamentals - which they clearly are not … why is the coach making the pass ? does she need to practice passing ?? - make the rotation work so a player is making the pass, the player has to v-cut or step and pivot to receive the pass … box out when shot goes up … as i said the drill could be so much. better , just adding defence to one or two players would open up many options and force better fundamentals …
modern training in any elite sport setting these days (unless it’s recovery or learning something brand new ) is game like, competitive (they could have just had a target score to beat to make it competitive - but better still with defence) , executed for perfection and excellence (ie focus on fundamentals and specific skill with no lee-way for half arse or lazy efforts when they know how to execute ) and allow for decision making at every single opportunity….
not saying she was a bad coach - no way to possibly tell from that short clip … but i sure didn’t understand why she was running the drill and why she was so happy with it - from what i saw the players where in a seemingly cruise mode approach and cutting corners … not all - but many
… anyways hope you benefitted from my wisdom … now go out and there and make it happen -- your teams will win more and your players will love you for the fun sessions, your high expectations and the finals they get to play in …
      you’re very welcome …
