- If there’s anything I’ve learned from the internet, it’s that people love to complain, and there is no shortage of complaints about MSC Cruises’ food online.
MSC Cruises, a European cruise line, has recently gained popularity in the North American cruise market, but the cruise line receives consistent criticism on their food offerings. While everyone has different tastes, it was hard to ignore comments about the lack of dining venues, limited food choices, and flavorless food onboard.
I gave it a try and here are my thoughts.
I enjoyed the food on my MSC cruise. I enjoyed the cruise itself also. They seem to maintain the ships very well also. I will def cruise them again! Reality shuts those lying critics up.
I follow 6-7 cruise channels and this is excellent and specific - not a 100th version of 40 things to pack on your cruise, etc.

The food on MSC is awesome but North Americans are not used to the Mediterranean cuisine and this is where the complains are coming from. Their pizzas are amazing! Not much to look at but the taste is awesome!
Many reviewers act like some kind of culinary arts experts when they go on a cruise. In reality they're the same meat and potatoes losers like the rest of us.
I think you are correct and offer an accurate review. Some people love to complain. Just because it is different does not mean its bad.
3 MSC cruises and very happy with the food. Favorites are pizza, risotto and their sticky buns.
As MSC cruises provides an excellent European cruise experience gearing towards the cost conscious traveler, many those first time cruisers are expecting more than they paid for. Yes, MSC food is not at the level of a Cunard cruise line, but MSC cruises provides an excellent food experience as compared to other cost conscious cruise lines such as Carnival cruise lines.
I think that they need another resto or buffet that is just has a big salad bar, wraps and smoothies.
3 cruises on MSC and haven't had a problem with the food. The pizza is the best at sea.
Just disembarked the Meraviglia today and I couldn’t agree with you more! The food in the MDR was tasty, had great variety & quality, and always had the “traditional favorite” fall backs. The $17 all you care to enjoy deal at Hola Tacos is a steal! Would happily sail with MSC again.
We are leaning toward an MSC cruise in October. Question: I heard that you only get one small meal in the Complimentary Dining Room and have to pay for a 2nd meal? Is this true? 🐸

I think you’re spot on with your review, the food was really good on our MSC seaside cruise. We intentionally booked an MSC cruise, hoping for the European experience. During our seven day cruise, we did the main dining room all but one night, and was very satisfied with the service and the food. I do wish they had more included dining options, but the price was worth it.
Is MSC the best food you will ever eat no. Is MSC food a great value considering your paying a couple of hundred less than Carnival HELL YES. MSC haters just can't be satisfied they expect prime steak for the price of a big mac.

The food is good its like home cooking if your looking for gourmet food your gonna pay main dining room had some really good dishes some werent too good

No complaints with the food. I cruised Seaview in the Mediterranean following a cruise on Carnival, Carnival is a smaller ship but buffet area is larger, plus they offered made to order pizza, burgers, hot/ cold sandwiches and tacos. MSC free dining options Buffet or MDR. I avoided the MSC buffet as much as possible because of the crowds and the noise. The space was smaller and more confined so much noisier than Carnival, plus MSC layout had choke points. Breakfast in MSC at MDR, yes service was quick when first seated, but getting a refill that was a wait even when requested, if it was one day I can accept they were busy but it happened on 3 visits.
I have been on 2 MSC cruises and the food is not that great, but the pizza is great...Some of the food was tasteless, steak had no flavor and that was in the steak house, still comes with an extra I paid $71 for 3 special dining and and the steak had no flavor , the Teppanyaki had an extra charge that you had to pay, because they serve Sushi with the meal , I don't eat Sushi , but still had to pay it I also heard some not so good things about the Mexican place, but I found that to be wonderful.... Everybody has different tastes.... so you have to try it for yourself

We found the pizza on the Seaside to be very poor. Much prefer a frozen pizza. The surf and turf in the MDR featured a very chewy filet mignon and a mushy lobster tail with no drawn butter. On our week-long cruise, most of the food was barely up to cruise-ship normal. The quality of the food took a back seat, however to the very poor service. We will not cruise MSC again.
I sailed back to back on MSC Meraviglia on Feb. of this year. ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! NEVER ANY COFFEE, MUGS, CREAM OR SWEETENER IN THE MORNING!
Like I told the managers, if you can't get coffee right, you shouldn't be in business. You really soured a whole lot of people on this cruise!
I wasn't the only one that sounded off on them. They had a total new crew on the ship and didn't care, there was no supervision, and most of them should've been shipped back to their countries because they were hiding in the bathrooms to chat with their friends rather than do their jobs.
Passengers that had previously been on the ship and booked other cruises, because it was so exquisite the first time out, canceled all of their future cruises, because this one was that bad

On Seaview, coffee was warm, not hot, quick service when first seated but a refill, maybe maybe not even after requesting. Buffet coffee, dirty mugs even though they were just put out, dirty dishes, and not enough clean dishes. The staff was not quick to remove dirty dishes when people were eating.
I lived in Italy for 3 years and I can deninitely say they don't know how to cook Italian food!!! Our cruise that ended today from last Thursday was the worst even compared to the very first and only Carnival cruise we ever had. No amount of future promotions will ever convince me to book with any of their cruises anymore. I wouldn't have mind their bad Italian food, but their overall customer service was horrible. The Captain didn't seem to care about his passengers at all!!! Goodbye MSC!!! Never again!!!
I also heard that their disembarking system is a nightmare. Quite un organized. Did you experience that?
