you can no longer redirect damage like Purphurous to Planeswalkers, the damage must be able to target a player, "all opponents" and the like do not allow redirection anymore.

Yes, damage dealt to an "opponent" cannot target a planeswalker, but damage dealt to "any target", or target "player" still can. Damage is dealt now directly to the walker also, not at the player then redirected, so counterspells that target "you" cannot be used.
Dealt to target opponent can hit a planeswalker instead, it's to "each opponent" that can't.
8:41 Darios casted blasphemous act to blow up all creatures but in response Kevin killed him while the spell was on the stack, wouldn’t that fizzle the blasphemous act and save Chris’s etali?

I once had a game at one of the shops here in Houston... six players, all mono red.
I was playing Zada and I was against Norin, Purphoros, the red Akroma, Urabrask, and Krenko. It was epic
I wish there were a Neheb, the Eternal at the table. Probably one of my favorite mono red commanders. Valduk seems fun as well.
Mono red probably has the most diverse cast of commanders compared to any other color. So many diferent stratergies across the commanders that i love it

My Daretti deck tries to deal with enchantments by using liquidmetal coating to turn them into artifact and then blow them up.

I don't think that arcbound ravager should have been exiled. Sac'ing the artifact isn't part of the cost of daretti, and as tormod's crypt was used in response, the tormod's crypt effect would have resolved, then daretti effect would resolve and ravager would be sacrificed
More than that, Daretti's -2 is targeted, so if it loses target in response, the whole ability is countered, and ravager won't be sacrificed at all.
Mono red is my favorite, and I thank you for this one! (Would have loved Hidetsugu as one of them but that's nit picking.)

This is a (perhaps surprisingly) interesting match. All that artifact removal made it a wild ride.

FWIW, at 4:07 your Arcbound Ravager wouldn't have been exiled because any responses would have to be before Deretti's ability begins resolving.

I dunno... this game was very one sided. Interesting concept but Purphorous shoulda been someone folks can interact with in mono red imo. Plenty of options exist. I’m sure these were the decks folks had on hand but it was super slanted.
In my playgroup the Purphoros deck will get focused by everyone else (as it should since they'll take enough damage already). It just puts this bad clock on the game, because often enough the card doesn't get removed (it's hard to do for most decks).
Honestly Purphoros decks just aren't fun (for me) to see. It's always the same stuff - make tokens (most often Goblins), sac tokens for more tokens or extra damage and win. Just one of those cards that scales way too good in multiplayer when it's always available from the command zone.
I like to see less straightforward game plans.
Main problem was the ensnaring bridge preventing anyone other than Purphoros from really doing anything
Nyan Hartman the problem was mostly the purphorous throwing tons of damage out and no one able to interact with it. Bridge neutered Etalli but that’s about it.
The table's only answer to Purphoros was to eliminate the player controlling it. So, while the bridge only really stopped Etali from attacking I think that snowballing with Etali triggers was the best chance of surviving. Of course, then the remaining two players would have to deal with Chris. It's hard to say how the game would go if bridge never went down b/c Etali has a lot of variability.

I am stronly opposed to the Vandalblast Sol Ring play. In multiplayer I usually find that the players will auto correct such advantages in the early game. Holding on to it to eventually Overload it.

rule change with dominaria does not allow cards like purphuros to redirect damage from players to planeswalkers
This was filmed the Thursday before Dominaria dropped, but it's good to know for moving forward!
Good to see you're adding restrictions to the games every now and then. Mono red is usually the least played color since it doesn't have much in the way of card draw, forcing its players to come up with creative ways to generate advantage.
Will you be trying out Brawl sometime soon? I want to see a sample of the format's power level before I dip my toes into it. :)
I've seen Brawl. I'm not super keen on the restricted building requirements, but when it drops on Arena I'll probably give it a go.
Honestly Mono-White is way worse than Mono-Red. You don't even get wheels. Only subpar conditional card draw like Mentor of the Meek.
I've never seen anybody seriously play a Mono-White deck and expect to win more often than once every blue moon.
N1ghthavvk unless mono white stax which can beat tier one decks handily. But folks frown on nearly every strength of white.
Essefex brave the elements only stops targeting, damage, (and blocking) ie only red wipes are stopped by it. Perhaps you’re unintentionally cheating?
The saddest thing about drawing so many lands: if you tried to capitalize on it by adding Seismic Assault to the deck, you'd either never draw it or never draw lands when you actually had it. Stupid Murphy's Law... :'(

EDIT: Also, for some reason, I felt like life totals weren't updated correctly with purphoros damage.
Ido Sherman the Wurm tokens are there afterwords. They're just hard to spot because they're just marked with facedown cards on a busy background.

I feel like the threat assessment was really poor this game. Kevin was ahead most of the game, yet you were still targetted by quite a bit of stuff as well

You can't redirect damage to palneswalkers anymore, so purphoros can't ping them.
I would have vandalblasted later, as there was too much graveyard hate.

I'm really confused, did Chris have some personal vendetta against you? He kept on targetting you while you were behind, lowest life, and flooded, and ignored the Purphoros player whom you had all agreed beforehand was the biggest threat.
As you mentioned, having Purphoros at the table made the game both predictable and pretty boring. That the start was pretty low so he was never in much danger (and he was actually protected by the Bridge too at least until you got into combo range) didn't help.
This video lacking music just made me realise how much of an impact it has on the overall atmosphere, though!

Man,that Purphoros would have done so much more dirty work had he landed earlier....this shows again why we banned him as commander in our group. Indestructible damage shooting to all opponents is just obnoxious!
