The Cicadas Are Here!

- Warm weather has billions of cicadas emerging right now. In parts of the country, they're all over these flowers. Although the insects are mostly harmless, they make loud singing noises as they search for a mate. #cicadas #shorts
People have been calling 911, mistaking Cicada sounds for sirens or car alarms. That noise level can get up to 100 decibels, the sound of a passing jet plane or the sound of a lawnmower. This is really loud because it is literally hundreds of thousands or millions of individuals singing at the exact same time. They're also keeping pet owners busy dogs and cats can swallow them. And if you have a dog that decides to eat one or, you know, any other type of species of a pet,, it should not hurt them. There are instances where a dog or cat might have an allergy to them similar to maybe a human with an allergy to bee stings, for example.
My chickens are READY
I used to love the sound of them in Georgia.
Never heard one that sounds like a car alarm or siren.
Uhhh..no. me either lol that's city people exaggerating lol
@@Krystal-zt4ti they said because thousands and more singing at the same time
It's insane. It sounds like a thousand shrill whistles. Kind of like that South Park episode where they have a million kids playing their recorders, except the cicadas only play one note. I spend my lunch breaks by the air compressor lately just because I'm so sick of hearing them.
Earth is getting very weird...
@@Krystal-zt4ti you must have never been in a heavy hotspot. It sounds like 10 school fire alarms going off at the same time where i am. Car alarm is a massive understatement.
I'm glad they actually put something useful in here with talking how pets won't be harmed by them
Why do people assume everything hurts their animal, automatically? It’s a bug not a mushroom 😂
Pet owners are unsure whether the cicadas could cause damage to the throat and esophagus area by, for example, stinging or biting. I can imagine something about that. But complaining about the noise, on the other hand, shows that people have no interest in nature anymore and are simply becoming stupid, don't you think?
@@paulvanderweerd7456 wtf they don’t bite or sting are u kidding?
@@BenPat88 "I certainly command respect if I respond rudely to something I apparently know nothing about," was probably your line of thought.
Too bad Ben, I would have been happy to explain it, now you can find out for yourself.
Our dog actually got really sick from eating them, but she ate a ton of them! Then couldn't breathe right because their shells and stuff are all stuck in her nose and throat 😔 we started only taking her out on a leash and after like 3 Days of night eating them, she was completely back to normal.
I remember when i was young i thought they were the sound of heat 😂
Honestly, that sound would put me to sleep. The louder the white noise the better.
Believe me, it's not that type of sound. I can't sleep without some sort of noise, and I still can't sleep with these little shits
Sure, believe what you want, but I have to sleep with those things making their sounds. It’s the worst thing imaginable.
Birds love them.
For Snacking?
For Companionship?
For Musical Ability?
All of the Above? 🤔
Everyone knows that birds use them to put in their vibrating egg, right? 🤫
They’re in parts of Texas every single year. Nothing new for us. Their noise is just a part of the landscape.
Hell of a surprise when one flies into your face while doing something like mowing, riding a bike, walking/running, etc…
You can often find them whole, but passed away and dried out on the ground. Those carcasses are incredibly light, yet durable. Getting a close look at them, they damn near look like aliens.
Edit: ours are also much more colorful and vibrant than these are.
I was going to say this...there are different varieties of of cicada, these are pretty in their own right but I have seen some with rainbow wings... amazingly beautiful.
I love cicadas❤ they're my favorite insect. 🪲
In ILLINOIS the little things are ALL OVER MY CARPORT
Lucky you people to experience this huge Mothernatures event 🦗🌏😇💖
They sound like a roof mounted AC unit.
They are out now in Durham NC upper surrounding areas
I love them!
They are edible for people too and I've heard make a delicious stir fry!
Chickens, need a million of them.
I didn’t know Donnie Wahlberg was a biologist now?! Cool 😂
This is TURAES
As someone who's living in cicada territory right now... WHAT? CAN'T HEAR YOU!
Yep. I'm finding their corpses everywhere. And the birds are just going to town on them. 😂 They sound a little different this year. I think it depends on the brood. The 'chorus' sounds less harsh. From inside the house, it just sounds like water running through the pipes or maybe construction whirring in the distance.
Oh God no no no. I don’t like those or Locust. 👀😬😬
They don't affect humans.
Chill out.
What if one of them flies into your mouth? 😅
They do affect humans. They destroy crops given enough time and energy.
Who cares let nature be the way it wants. They’re harmless.
Cicadas are AWESOME
not when the eat all the food producing plants
En Nashville Tennessee había muchas de ellas esto fue en este mes de mayo/2024
Loud!!!!!
Hahahha not in Minnesota 😂😂😂😂
They’re deafening in Thailand
Dinner is served!
Yep here in Troy Missouri
They're cool. They add to natures summer ambiance. But.. at night they dive bomb the porch light and sound like little helicopters against the side of the house. They're quite powerful. My dog and cat likes to eat them lol. One time i saw a cicada killer hornet get one.. it was a sight to behold. Savage! They look like murder hornets but supposedly harmless to us
Just looked up cicada klers because I've heard of them but never seen one and said to myself, "it can't be that bad?"
It was that bad.
It's a periodical earth feeding
Have you ever seen actual locust? Yeah…. When we don’t screw in the cabin! Why do you think it’s called Locust Ridge? OO, go make the popcorn! Pod Dolly
How would you mistake a siren or an alarm for a cicada when they sound nothing like each other, some people man
why are those so tiny, ours are twice that size
Americans...
They are almost gone. Are there more coming out? I am going to miss them.
it depends where you are, i live in the midwest and we'll see more and more of them until roughly mid june before they begin to die off. also, two of the largest cicada broods are emerging simultaneously, which happens once in ab 221 years, so there will be a ton this year!

😮😮😮
Ahhhhhhhh
ถ้าเป็นประเทศไทยกินหมดไม่เหลือ
Nothing new 🙄
Those things are disgusting!!
They're just insects. I mean, it's not like they're roaches or something like that.
Hate Big Bugs!😢
They taste great when baked with chili-lime seasoning
Are you from South America??
Eat one...
Those things are creepy looking, my daughters friend was attacked by them her husband tried to pull them off her but they wouldn't come off they chased her
