  • Warm weather has billions of cicadas emerging right now. In parts of the country, they're all over these flowers. Although the insects are mostly harmless, they make loud singing noises as they search for a mate. #cicadas #shorts
People have been calling 911, mistaking Cicada sounds for sirens or car alarms. That noise level can get up to 100 decibels, the sound of a passing jet plane or the sound of a lawnmower. This is really loud because it is literally hundreds of thousands or millions of individuals singing at the exact same time. They're also keeping pet owners busy dogs and cats can swallow them. And if you have a dog that decides to eat one or, you know, any other type of species of a pet,, it should not hurt them. There are instances where a dog or cat might have an allergy to them similar to maybe a human with an allergy to bee stings, for example.

It's insane. It sounds like a thousand shrill whistles. Kind of like that South Park episode where they have a million kids playing their recorders, except the cicadas only play one note. I spend my lunch breaks by the air compressor lately just because I'm so sick of hearing them.

Pet owners are unsure whether the cicadas could cause damage to the throat and esophagus area by, for example, stinging or biting. I can imagine something about that. But complaining about the noise, on the other hand, shows that people have no interest in nature anymore and are simply becoming stupid, don't you think?

Our dog actually got really sick from eating them, but she ate a ton of them! Then couldn't breathe right because their shells and stuff are all stuck in her nose and throat 😔 we started only taking her out on a leash and after like 3 Days of night eating them, she was completely back to normal.

They’re in parts of Texas every single year. Nothing new for us. Their noise is just a part of the landscape.
Hell of a surprise when one flies into your face while doing something like mowing, riding a bike, walking/running, etc…
You can often find them whole, but passed away and dried out on the ground. Those carcasses are incredibly light, yet durable. Getting a close look at them, they damn near look like aliens.
Edit: ours are also much more colorful and vibrant than these are.
