Loving this Overlap series which focuses on tactics and analysis side of the game. The animation is done well and its so simple to understand. Hope the fan debate returns soon.
Dennis irwin would be unreal in todays game
ashley cole too
Nope
Yeah all day 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Marcelo would also cook 🔥
Roy?
Thank you Pep 💙
Denis Irwin was inverted wingback before Trent was born, left foot right foot could play on both sides could finish good passing and crossing top defense could score you a free kick never injured no issues on and off the pitch great character my god he would be worth 2 billion in todays market
Found Roy Keane’s burner 😂
@@channingchillsso true lol
He wasn't.
0:42 talking about IFBs and no Walker on the Man City lineup
Walker doesn’t invert
Unpopular opinion but Trent is wasted as an inverted fullback. He's a better final product passer than a tempo controlling midfielder like Zinchenko. Also atm the midfield isn't good enough to protect him defensively. He could learn for sure but I don't see the point personally.
Not unpopular I'd say, clearly a waste of Trents best attributes, his golden zone is clearly towards the right offensively
He’s been great there, but overall I feel Liverpool could benefit from moving back to the 433 now they have more mobile midfielders.
What Klopp noticed was that city were winning everything with inverted fullbacks. So he copied. And at that point pep had moved on to a different system and won the treble with it. Every manager is always following pep
Are there any other formations outside of the 4-3-3 where inverted fullbacks are used?
I find it quite boring to watch, actually. I prefer more traditional attacking full backs swininging in crosses and getting behind.
Chaos vs Order. I think fans generally prefer chaotic football because it’s more exciting and unpredictable. Most modern managers tend to steer towards controlled systems, but it can be a bit less exciting at times.
Nobody asked mate
@@dylanmulroe9978 Fortunately I can post on here without being requested to. Please try to contain your obvious tears, 'mate'.
Civil partnership or married, btw?
@@kevinb9830😂😂 brilliant response
The way modern teams defend deep makes crosses from the byline ineffective due to so many bodies on the box..
When you forget to do your homework so you just watch todo football RUclips channel and copy there videos
Great video, who is this dude and where can we find more of his work?

“The purist football” that’s his name I believe mate, he’s quality I watch him all the time
Inverted fullbacks don’t certainly need to be able to use both feet. A good inverted fullback needs to be good on the half turn. You have to have a certain body shape or size, not everyone can play that role without getting caught out.
what is exactly inverted defence meaning in football does it mean a right back plays in left back position and left back plays in right back position or something else.
Means the play in the midfield
Pep Guardiola is a great coach/manager but all the hype about him being a revolution in the football world, how he changed football with the tiki taka and now inverted FB's! Well it is just that, hype! I know people have never heard of professional football before the Premier League but do your homework going back to the 1950's/60's and 70's!

Bring back 4-4-2
Those who watched teams 30 years ago in the 70s or 80s...inverted fullback was used then but it wasn't common...
English teams yet again trying to replicate pep system 😂
Ah yes Pep Guardiola - inventor of the inverted fullback 😂😂just like I basically invented the telephone.
Pep copied it from a Dutch men. Spain should thank the Dutch. They were terrible before tiki taka.
the skybet ad is rather obnoxious. please find another method to show the ad.
Incredible how damaging gambling is and it is so heavily sponsored by athletes and news media
Put these on a different channel
Putting a Liverpool and Arsenal player on the thumbnail actually wound me up, the disrespect to Pep and City
WTF is the Four, Free, Free mefod?...🤣🤣
Moving like Tifo with these tactical videos
Tifo sucks!! if ur a real football fan, you will know they say a lot of things without saying anything. Once you watch a couple of their videos, it sounds repetitive.
Denis Irwin was inverted fullback.
I don’t like it personally prefer full backs overlapping and being solid in a back 4 covering centre half’s
🎉🎉
Man like H
I'll break it down for you, you've got a RB that can't defend so you move heaven and earth to try an accomodate them for some reason.
Trent's not inverted he just can't defend 🤣🤣🤣
