This is the first time I've seen the Calculations effect, and it's quite powerful. I honestly don't know how you came up with all these combinations of layers and effects, but the result is fantastic. Bravo.
I've worked with AE quiet some time and been through multiple amount of tutorials to get some requested effects, but I must say, this channel and what you are doing here must be the most pedagogic and intelligent tutorials i've ever seen. You are using some effects I didn't even know excisted. I learn so much even though I probably never need this specific result. You're like a magician revealing all the secrets! 🤩
This tutorial remembered me the old time Andrew Kramer exploring every single inch of After Effects to bring really nice details to the comp. You made something really unique here. Amazing work man!
It amazes me how anyone figures out all the nuances of obscure plugins. As a production motion designer, I'm runnin' and gunnin' all day and just don't have the endurance to explore effects after work. Thanks for sharing!
I'm still new when it comes to learning AE, and I'm just amazed that these are the things you can create! Man, I can't wait to try and tackle this project one day.
Honestly an amazing tutorial. Most of these will depend on some resources in a paid package or third-party plugins, so I really didn't expect you pull this all together from first principles. Mind-blowing what you can do just by composing different effects.
You’ve shown again and again how powerful layer styles are. They way you use them here to add depth to the blood drops is inspired. I’ve been using AE for twenty years and l’m picking up tips in every video.
I can't help but add! while writing my comment, I wanted to add "only you and another guy who recorded a lesson on Time Blend FX worthy of attention on youtube" How i was surprised when i went to your videos and realized that you and that guy are the same person! hahaha! It's happy and frustrating at the same time. Coz there's only one person on youtube doing really deep tutorials with incredible depth of tool knowledge! keep it up!
This is awesome and exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much! I had to skip the motion blur at the end because my little MacBook Air had a stroke trying to do it. I also slowed the blood down a bit to a "higher cholesterol" version. :)
I appreciate this tutorial. I followed everything you did and I actually got it correctly and got where I wanted. This is my first time doing something on After Effects other than Saber and changing my name on an intro template lol. Once again, thanks.
This was literally the first time I opened and used after effects and through your tutorial I managed to re-create the things so easily just following your instructions 🙌🏻 thank you so much 🙏🏻
Fantastic tutorial, both in content and in presentation style - no flannel, straight to the point, clear and concise. I could probably guess at most of the individual steps, but the way you combined them is inspired. I'm familiar with Calculations from Photoshop, but had never considered using them in AE the way you have done here, so those insights were worth watching the video for alone. Also, lots of other good effects used that I hadn't come across before. Consider yourself subscribed!
Glad to gear it! Thinking of splitting off a Texturelabs Motion channel, cause I think the back and forth is killing me on youtube. But ya, love working in AE!
Haven't seen anyone use AE effects like this on RUclips. Awesome tutorial! I've finally hit the wall and am unable to update to AE23 on my 2012 mac mini 😭 Had some trouble that others have reported with threshold. I was able to mess with settings (0.4515) and get something similar. Where I ran into another problem was setting the bevel layer to screen. Instead of letting most of the red from "body" layer to show through, the letters stayed mostly black. Changing the opacity of the bevel layer down to 40% was able to match the look you had on screen. Ran through the process twice and got the same result both times. Not sure if it was me or my program messing up.
I've been using After Effects for over 15 years and that's the first time I've seen the calculations effect being used, I've never used it myself, I would of done it the classic way of pre-comping the layers but this is a great video and i had fun following along.
in my case... the source and particle world not match or blend like You .....10:39..when i uncheck preserve transparency there are some space between a source and particles....please help what i do ????
Oh man, it looks like I'm going to have to start learning After Effects. I wasn't planning to do that, but this really opened my eyes to what is possible. It looks super deep though.
Again with another shockingly outstanding tutorial. Simply genius. I wish I knew why my CC Threshold has values up to 30,000, and so I can't progress beyond that stage at the minute. I'll keep playing with it though, its a stunning effect. Thanks for your great work and effort and sharing it with us all!
Like the Effects of After Effects videos, this helps to see what specific effects are there for. And how you use them probably surprises the developers at Adobe as well! And even more than just seeing the effects, this is again one of your wonderful videos that shows a really useful use case people with AE ambition will be fawning over. For long I thought these kinds of things would have to be done in a 3D application, with fluid simulations and all. But no, most of these functions have been in AE for years.. Only to be rediscovered in new and wonderful ways. Particle world, calculations, cc effects I thought were legacy things that were only there to keep old projects working.. Always a Treat with lots of Tricks. To keep the Halloween vibe alive.
Next time someone ask me if I know how to use AE I will say I'm a total beginner. Thanks for this tutorial I not only learn about the dripping but also about many effects I had no idea they do exist.
In the second part of the video I was getting nervous each time you used calculations effect, because I wondered if my PC would handle so many effects. I think I have PTSD after watching this. But the end result looks so good: both animation and the glossy style. Just wow.
Fantastic tut, that was awesome i hadnt seen anyone abuse calc like that before but it was definitely worth it, instant subscribe brotha thanks for the fun tut just in time for halloween. An to think i hand drew animation like this because i didnt think it was possible to do it right.
This is the first time I've seen the Calculations effect, and it's quite powerful. I honestly don't know how you came up with all these combinations of layers and effects, but the result is fantastic. Bravo.
Appreciate that Dave. Ya it's a little bit of an alternate workflow, but I'm a big fan of everything in the Channel effects!
Overall it is a complex video, but I learned the effects I've never seen before Thank you🤩
One of the best AE tutorials I've seen in years. Truly next level.
Great work, I love it when someone uses any program so intelligently, especially After Effects
I'm still new when it comes to learning AE, and I'm just amazed that these are the things you can create! Man, I can't wait to try and tackle this project one day.
do it today :p
ive seen a LOT of tutorials in my day for all sorts of software and this is the best ive seen .
Honestly an amazing tutorial. Most of these will depend on some resources in a paid package or third-party plugins, so I really didn't expect you pull this all together from first principles. Mind-blowing what you can do just by composing different effects.

The things you learn throught the tutorial is more than the tutorial result it self WHAT A LEGEND
Incredible.
I get so pumped when I get an TextureLabs new project email. Keep it up!
Nice, glad to hear it!
I've been using AE since 2004 and I didn't know half of what was in this tutorial. This is legit good stuff.
Absolute madlad. the brains on this one!
What a great video again! Pure genius! Thanx Brady!
Right on, thank you!
That's amazing, thanks a lot! Never learned about Calculations before.
Managed to apply the effect to part of my band's logotype successfully.
It is the first tutorial since Kramer's tuts time, I can feel the familiar brain boiling and rapture.
that's LEVEL!
I can't help but add! while writing my comment, I wanted to add "only you and another guy who recorded a lesson on Time Blend FX worthy of attention on youtube"

The amount of calculations could pay my rent for a month, thanks!
Can't tell you how much these tutorials excite me mate! BIG thanks for sahring your creativity and knowledge!!!

This is awesome and exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much! I had to skip the motion blur at the end because my little MacBook Air had a stroke trying to do it. I also slowed the blood down a bit to a "higher cholesterol" version. :)
You, sir, are the G.O.A.T!. the pacing is spetacular, instructions are clear, and your knowledge is godlike. thank you!
WHAT. THE. WHAT. There's next level, and then there's you and your phenomenal work and ideas. Sweet mercy.
I appreciate this tutorial. I followed everything you did and I actually got it correctly and got where I wanted. This is my first time doing something on After Effects other than Saber and changing my name on an intro template lol. Once again, thanks.
Ouahou man you're the only guy I know that brings really new great tutorials for After Effects! It's inspiring, thanks a lot!
This is simple AWSOME! Thanks a lot for this detailed workflow
You never cease to amaze! Bravo!
really cool tutorial, fascinating that we can achieve this by just blending and unblending things over and over.
This was literally the first time I opened and used after effects and through your tutorial I managed to re-create the things so easily just following your instructions 🙌🏻 thank you so much 🙏🏻
this really is a trust the process kinda thing huh lmao, but thank you so much i have been tryng to find this for so long

This is so cool. I watched even though I use Davinci Resolve because you explain it so well, and the ideas are totally applicable!
