    I have a few of them in my garden and I absolutely love them, they are beautiful grasses. I never knew what they are called, so thank you for this video, it helped me tremendously. I am from South Africa.

    Great video. I’ve kept this grass before and loved it. We moved, I need to get more of these plants at the new house.

    I love this grass. I have grown it in a large pot but it does not stand up like that - mine is healthy but it grows long like hair...I call it "cousin It".
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks

      @margerobb1469 it's possible it's getting too much wqter. I also comb out the seed heads. If I don't do that it weighs the grass down.

    I live in upstate NY and am wondering if I can overwinter this beautiful grass in my garden or will it die back. I will pull those seed heads and keep them. Thanks for the informative video!

      I am actually unsure how well it would survive in upstate New York. I did have one winter where it got a bit below 0° f here in Utah, and all my clumps died. They did reseed themselves and come back. It is supposed to be hardy to zone 5.
      It loves really dry conditions and doesn't survive on my property in areas that get watered more than 1 time per week. The less water it gets, the better it seems to do here.

      thanks so much for your reply! I pulled off the seed heads and will plant them later this fall@@gardenwiseadventures

    I recently transplanted a few about a month ago they are all yellow now a few I kept in pots with good soil but the ones that are on the ground should I trim them down? Or will they turn green I'm thinking it starts to turn green but from the bottom it looks like. Thanks for ur time I appreciate it

      I have not had success with transplanting Mexican Feather Grasses. Unfortunately none of mine have survived when I tried. Definately try cutting them down and keep them moist, but not too wet for a while and see if that helps.

    I just bought Mexican feather grass, I was wondering if the seeds get in my lawn will it grow

      The seeds have sprouted in my flowerbeds, nut they never got into my lawn. I think it's too wet for them there.

    I’m having trouble here in coastal North Carolina with keeping them alive, there’s so much rain and in my flower bed, it doesn’t drain very well due to the heavy rainfall and heavy clay/sand soil. Any ideas or tips? Also, if they die out do to being too wet, will they come back the next year?

      @gardenwiseadventures  4 года назад

      The only thing I can thing of to help is to grow them in a raised bed with soil that has better drainage. They really don't like soil that stays too moist.

    Plant them from seed directly in the ground?

    • @gardenwiseadventures
      @gardenwiseadventures  3 года назад

      If there is enough moisture that should work. Mine reseed themselves when we have wet springs.

    Hi! Great garden. How fast does it grow? I just planted some small ones and can’t wait for them to get bigger!

    • @gardenwiseadventures
      @gardenwiseadventures  4 года назад +1

      Thy grow quite quickly once it warms up. They are usually close to full size by the end of the season if you plant them in spring.

    That is not feather reed grass. What you’re growing is Mexican feather grass.
