Sterntube bearing renewal

The last vessel i joined was berthed at Durban South Africa. The stern tube bearing was damaged & was being renewed. Luckily I was able to record the work being carried. It is treat for the eyes to the internals of sterntube & the work being carried out by the workshop.

I was a SRM years back.. Doing this renewal in afloat condition is very chalenging.. So many preparations and safety aspects need to be done before..

Thks for sharing. Its really hard work. Glad I only work in the machine shop during my apprenticeship days before I was transferred to the commercial dept doing ship repair tenders.
