The B&W 705 S3 speakers really are great. Before we received them in the Showroom I was thinking that they were pricey speakers considering that they were in the 700 Range.But then after seeing them, the look and build quality alone makes you realize why they are priced where they are in comparison to other speakers. Then after listening to them, It is easy to fall in love with the sound quality. I don't think that they have the older typical B&W sound. These are very airy and seem to play effortlessly. It's as if the speakers don't have to "work" to play music and because of this, they seem to "disappear" into a wide and deep soundstage. You don't hear the sound from the speakers, unless it needs to be there. The midrange and the overall tonality is very smooth with nothing harsh or hard edged. Even the highs from the tweeters are very good. Great extension without being overly bright or harsh. Just smooth without anything missing. It's obvious why some call these "The poor man's 805" because they really are that good.

I agree, they really are! And they sound even better! I'm really impressed with how good they sound. I wasn't expecting the amount of midrange detail and how wide and deep the soundstage is. Unfortunately it's difficult to convey that in a video.
