This Hololive Indonesia medley just hit me right in the feels. I mean, seeing them in those traditional outfits, singing songs from my childhood... it's like a piece of home I never knew I was missing. Their voices were so beautiful, and the music just transported me back to simpler times. I'm not ashamed to admit I was sobbing by the end. It's such a powerful reminder of our rich culture and heritage. I'm so grateful for videos like this.
I've watched this several times and still haven't read the translation. I enjoyed listening to the musicality of the Indonesian languages. I particularly liked Ollie's articulation, which isn't as easily noticed during streams. Iofi's singing always sparks joy into each syllable she uses. Reine and Zeta have very cool, soft, clean voices which are easy to listen to. Anya's part was very smooth and cute. Kaela easily has the warmest and friendliest vibe. Risu's singing was flawless, as always. Her voice rings in your ears! Kobo's singing is comparable to a live performance, like she's singing directly in front of me, it feels very familiar. In contrast, Moona's was an out-of-this-World experience. I got studio ghibli vibes hearing 6:20! Terima kasih!

Trueeee, the variety of cultures and languages in Indonesia is really massive. As a Malay I can understand Bahasa Indonesia but I can't understand a single thing in Sundanese or Javanese 😂
I love HoloID, you are the best! Everyone, don't hesitate to give them praise and show them the greatest love! Their music is so unique we can't let them go unnoticed!

I'm American, and it was really cool to hear some traditional Indonesian songs that I would not normally hear, especially as performed by the HoloID girls! And the outfits were so cool! Thank you so much!
Bangga bro , hanya kata bangga yg cocok untuk menggambarkan kebahagian gw sebagai orang kalimantan melihat risu menyanyikan lagu daerah gw, selamat ultah indonesiaku 🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
I'm not indonesian but somehow every time I listened this medley I got feel comfy. Indonesia has a lot of culture, language, food, and islands and town, village. I just have visited jawa island 3 times for now but I want to visit another island too. After visiting the country several times and interacting with the local people, I realized that Indonesian people don't look at the outside but look at the inside of a person. And they are really caring, talkative, and won't leave others alone. I love such a them, such a culture, such a climate. I just back home from Jakarta tonight....Ah already I wanna back to ID...😂
Selamat pagi !! Semoga berbahagia dan sukses !!
That is our regional language, if our national language is "bahasa Indonesia" That's Indonesia, with its diverse languages and ethnicities. We are united in diversity😅
This is ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!! I totally love how you guys are always proud of your heritage & constantly find ways to showcase it & spread it along the other members of your company. It may seem simple to some, but being in a Japanese company, with your other huge audience being western English speakers makes it actually difficult to decide to do these things & puts pressure on you when you decide to do it, to go above and beyond everytime. So shoutouts to every member & MAJOR SHOUTOUTS to the team that helped produce this!!! The number of illustrations alone is crazy, let alone the details and the monster 9+ minutes of tracks that needed to be mixed & divided between so many members. Also, OBVIOUSLY, not that it needs mentioning but the singing was on point & the outfits were very pretty! HoloID will always be the strongest branch in my eyes, no contest! 💪🏼 Y'all are the best! P.S. Everytime you release an ID song, I love looking for words that are similar/close enough in Arabic 😄 didn't expect the word for "season" to be sooo similar. "Mosque" on the other hand being close didn't surprise me 😁
"Masigit" is a Sundanese word, the Indonesian is "masjid," the same as the Arabic. Indonesia has hundreds of different ethnic groups with their own unique language and culture. The last song, "Bengawan Solo" is in standard Indonesian instead of an ethnic language and thus has more loan words than the rest. There are words borrowed from Arabic other than the one you mentioned such as riwayat, insani, and kaum.
God, I remember the last version of this medley. I'm a dumb hick from Wisconsin, but thanks to hololive, I know Ollie's delivery is excessively Javanese.
Hey I'm Javanese and I know an old song from your country sounds like 'shall we coming round when she comes'' and oh my darling oh my darling clementine I don't remember the full song But I do know this old song back then when I was teen back in 90' My teacher tough me those songs I guess we actually share some culture
It's interesting that in the previous medley, it was closed with a song about departing & leaving homeland. And then this medley opened with a song about coming home
I am Japanese, but when I hear Indonesian folk songs, tears flow down my face. I thought that wonderful things transcend language barriers, and I became more interested in Indonesian culture. (Translated by DeepL, sorry if it sounds weird)
No worries, we are understand your message. thanks for supporting Holo ID, JP Nikki san, greetings from ID Nikki here. Those song are folk song which came from across Indonesia, even me, as Indonesian, dont understand some of folk song native language in the medley.

It's the first time I've heard Indonesian folk songs, but I felt it was very attractive. The beautiful lyrics and costumes further bring out the cuteness of everyone in holoID. I'm a Japanese but I'm proud of them as a fan. 2:57 My kami-oshi, kaela is so cute!!💛
Thank yʼall for this beautiful introduction to Indonesian culture. I have listened to this on repeat while playing a few hours of Factorio. I wish there were a Bandcamp FLAC or CD. ^_^ Terimah kasih dóó ahéheeʼ, y gracias, と ありがとう, och tack, and thank you!
The song has always been sung like this, every few years or so there will be new arrangements and covers by Indonesian musicians in RUclips. We love that song and will always be ✨
This is what I like about Hololive ID compared to other branches or even agencies, their strong sense of togetherness and their constant innovation. They always present many thing that even other Vtubers have never done before. It's fascinating to see music performances that are rich in culture like this.
6:33 The part where Moona is singing is a folk song from Makassar a city in Sulawesi Island formerly known as Celebes and it's about a woman who miss her lover so much that she's singing the word in her windows hoping the wind can deliver it to her lover whose far away but it can also be interpreted as missing one's hometown and I'm from Makassar hearing her singing it i got goosebumps and felt homesick at the same times remembering how my grandma used to sing me this song to sleep, so yeah bravo HoloID for making me miss my hometown
Same fellow SulSel brother! It was a real pleasant jumpscare to hear Anging Mamiri and see Bugis-Makassarese Moona. I too amaway from home and miss it dearly. Thank you Holo-ID girls for this!
as an internet rando who didnt know anything about Indonesia back in 2020, Hololive Indonesia is the first and the best thing to represent Indonesia. ID Bros, you'd better be damn proud of them.
Gawd daym, bruv. I'm so proud that I want to make my own bambu runcing (some kind of spear from bamboo) then form a line to fight like it was world war.
I just got back from a trip to Indonesia and I was lucky enough to be in town for their independence day. Indonesia has so many beautiful cultures and the way they celebrate is so beautiful and awe-inspiring. I want to go back to Indonesia one day and visit the other places! Hari kemerdekaan, terima kasih Jogjakarta, I miss you!

Ty for the appreciation,we still do have tons folks song hopefully they would do more one day and also for other Holo branches as well we would love to hear folk song from their own cultures as well
Just looking at the huge amount of difference between the Indonesian subs and what's being sung. Y'all weren't kidding when you said that the subs were for everyone.
@@laurencedelves nah bud, Indonesian language is just made up language that come after 1940s in dutch colonial as a lingua franca, which is derived from Malay language (Riau Province). meanwhile Indonesia has over 700 languages that spoken in country, each ethnic group speaks a different language from each other. even me which ethnically Java cannot understand those songs besides Javanese
@@FrlAlajamy ah, if it's from that perspective, that makes sense. I was grappling all the ethnic languages under the "Indonesian language" umbrella, but I do agree.
Thank you for creating this beautiful and gorgeous medley 💕! (P.S.: I cried when Bengawan Solo started; I hope you guys consider performing the full version). Dirgahayu Republik Indonesia!

THEY ARE ALL SO GREAT WITH THIS!!! man I love the girls I love HoloID❤❤I hope they all do their best for the concert and for what they will do next in teh future...!!!! 😁👍
Oh here's another phrase/slang: "MENYALA ABANGKUUUU🔥🔥🔥" Which translates to "On fire, my brother" Or a phrase that says they're cooking 👌 Thank you for learning bits of our language!
@@anotherhetalian8499 just a small correction: "menyala abangku" is the localization version of a popular internet slang "lit (brother)", but you are on the right direction.
the moment you realize that "bahasa indonesia" as a unified language or lingua franca isnt just some wikipedia description for the indonesians. in short im grateful for the indonesian subtitle lmao.
well fun fact our language actually should be call Indonesian instead, Bahasa mean language so Bahasa Indonesia was mean Indonesian Language, and Bahasa Inggris mean English Language very sure that kinda weird
Damn... I've been out of Indonesia for about 3 years. It has been a while since I've listened to Indonesian Folk Music. I was singing along and stopped at the transition from Soleram to Anging Mammiri because I was crying. Bravo to the arranger and all the production behind the piece. Bravo to the talents too for singing all of the songs beautifully.
I love when the ID girls sing ID folk music. Folk music is so simple and so pretty, anyone can learn to sing along. Folk music unites people regardless of singing ability, that's what I love about it. I wish in my country schools would make more of an effort to teach folk music, but alas, it's dying out more and more with each generation. ID friends, I hope you keep your music alive ❤
Omg a new medley! I was really hoping you'd do a new one since the last one didn't have ID3! The Indonesian language is so very beautiful, and all these lovely ladies really do their best in showcasing their voices. Thank you ID girls and thank you Cover for bringing us another Medley.

I'm an indonesian and trust me when i say not every indonesian understands the language lol. There are just too many of them in our country that it would take years or maybe decades to properly learn all of them. It might be a little out of topic but this is also why me as an indonesian don't understand the whole culture appropriation thing happening in social media rn. We Indonesians have far different cultures and languages that it's not surprising to say that it's like we're all from different countries knowing how different our cultures are. But even if we dont know the meaning we still sing each other's traditional song, we still wear each other's traditional clothes, we still dance to each other's traditional dances, and we still try to join each other's cultural rituals. May the reason be proper learning, passing curiosity, or just simply because it's beautiful. All is fine as long as you're respectful. A couple of wrong moves/wrong ways to wear are fine as long as you're willing to learn. And showing it around being proud of it even if it's not your culture is fine as long as it's not ill-willed. Culture is meant to be spread and enjoyed together. We're living in the age where we're mature and smart enough not to compare a culture with another; us indonesians has learnt that in the most harsh way. There's no culture appropriation, there's only culture appreciation. And even if there is some people using other's culture with ill-will that's also not culture appropriation..... That's just plain rude and they need a good ol' beating from the locals 😊
Its okay if you guys not understand the meaning. Even us Indonesian don't really know some of the spoken words above, unless we come from the specific area where the songs originated. As Archipelago, Indonesia consist of over 17.000 islands. With whooping amount of 718 local languages not to mention their own dialects. But hey, there's a beauty in our diversity. 🎉🇮🇩
Tapi paling ku suka yah mejangeran.

ID always comes with amazing songs celebrating Indonesia. Love this branch and glad we have them. Nine very talented individuals, hoping for a ID4 generation.
HoloID is amazing. These ladies have so much talent and energy that it's simply unbelievable, except we have seen it with our own eyes. I'll be honest, before HoloID. I was just another ignorant American who knew very little about Indonesia and its people, but HoloID has helped see the country and its people in ways I never would have otherwise. Thank you, HoloID, for opening my eyes and ears, not just to your own talents and beauty, but to the culturally rich and diverse place you call home.

Bengawan Solo isn't really the region folk song, as it was more modern among the other songs they sang here. Bengawan Solo are more like national song rather than traditional folk song like the other songs, but other than that good job at listing the songs!
Funfact : As some indonesians say in the comments, not everyone understands the meaning of all the songs. Heck, maybe noone totally understands every songs sung in this medley lol. This is because these songs are traditional songs that came from different regions in indonesia that are sung in their respective local languages. Indonesia have a total of 700+ local languages and indonesian people usually only understand 1 to 3 languages in total. 1 for people who don't understand local languages at all, only indonesian national language (usually towns people). 2 for people who understands indonesian and one local language of their tribe. And 3 for people whose parents are from different tribes. those are the most common language knowledge of most indonesians. If you're still not convinced or wanna know how different the languages are, try turning on the indonesian subs and compare the lyrics translated from the subs to the one at the bottom (the original lyrics). Some are close to the indonesian language and some are totally different, that's how diverse it is. Our girls are also seen wearing traditional clothes from different places on this video along with the hand and body gestures referencing to their respective traditional dances from each regions. I love how they put in these little details and i'm just excited to share it even more !!! 🤩 Also some add-ons: If you see how indonesians are touched and may seem overproud, that's because having such diverse traditions are a benefit yet also a risk for indonesia. But despite all of that, we decided to put back all our respective tribes and local prides aside to unite into one country named Indonesia and learn again from 0 a language that we made ourselves called "bahasa indonesia" so that we can communicate properly with each other. Since we were children, we were taught to always be proud of our own diversity, just like our country's motto : BHINNEKA TUNGGAL IKA (unity in diversity) This independence day is a reminder for all indonesians to where we all started from and our holoid girls did that in such a beautiful way 🥺❤️
for your information, this video is a compilation of multiple folk songs from multiple different provinces of indonesia and their respective language. so a lot of the lyrics throughout the video are in different languages. its kind of like what you guys have with the Hokkaido dialect(and other japanese district dialects) but the language difference is way more noticeable in indonesia in my opinion lol

And they are really caring, talkative, and won't leave others alone.

also kudos to the girls for this medley. i'm addicted and can't stop listening to this ❤️
bengawan solo populer selain liriknya gampang ditranslate, liriknya juga gk ngebuat rusak ritme meskipun di translate, populernya yah karena orang belanda dulu sering dengerin di pasar-pasar dulu
dari asia untuk asia
lagunya disebar jepang
"Mosque" on the other hand being close didn't surprise me 😁
Indonesian Language absorbs around 2000-3000 words from Arabic. That's why there are so many similarities in vocabulary between these two languages.
Hey I'm Javanese and I know an old song from your country sounds like 'shall we coming round when she comes'' and oh my darling oh my darling clementine
I don't remember the full song
But I do know this old song back then when I was teen back in 90'
My teacher tough me those songs
I guess we actually share some culture
It's interesting that in the previous medley, it was closed with a song about departing & leaving homeland. And then this medley opened with a song about coming home
And both of those song are from the same Region, Papua! 😄😄
@@FuyatoBDoesn't Bengawan Solo come from Central Java?

You spoke with the mouth full of truth my friend
That’s beautiful
You drop this king 👑

Of all the things this dude choose to speak. They choose to speak facts.

Funfact :
As some indonesians say in the comments, not everyone understands the meaning of all the songs. 🤩
Also some add-ons:
If you see how indonesians are touched and may seem overproud, that's because having such diverse traditions are a benefit yet also a risk for indonesia. But despite all of that, we decided to put back all our respective tribes and local prides aside to unite into one country named Indonesia and learn again from 0 a language that we made ourselves called "bahasa indonesia" so that we can communicate properly with each other. Since we were children, we were taught to always be proud of our own diversity, just like our country's motto :
BHINNEKA TUNGGAL IKA
(unity in diversity)
This independence day is a reminder for all indonesians to where we all started from and our holoid girls did that in such a beautiful way 🥺❤️

for your information, this video is a compilation of multiple folk songs from multiple different provinces of indonesia and their respective language. so a lot of the lyrics throughout the video are in different languages. its kind of like what you guys have with the Hokkaido dialect(and other japanese district dialects) but the language difference is way more noticeable in indonesia in my opinion lol
