The metal bar you found, is a crook they use for dipping sheep in a 'plunge dip'. It is used for pushing sheep under the water & pulling them up. Still common & used in New Zealand.
We've had a manitou just like that for years. Old reliable. We've also had a terex like that for years just as reliable. But last year finally came the day to replace them. We've gone and bought s brand new jcb 320s. And oh man it's such an upgrade. I'd have a look at one of them!!
