NOW THEN,my claim to fame!!.,,,,in 2005 me and my wife went to manchester to see this line up on a fine sunday evening and it was awesome so we went to cheltenham on the following wednesday and managed to get tickets for the evening show.,,,i took my "zawinul"album in the hope of getting it signed by uncle joe,,,,,,we ended up sharing a beer on the tour bus and playing footie with him on the lawns behind cheltenham town hall,,,.what a night.
just discovered this. Sabine and the group under Joe's direction are so profound in their skill, emotion, and musicianship, it brings tears of joy and sadness at the same time.
If there's a tighter version of Andalucia I would be surprised -Joe definitely steps into Duke Ellington's territory here. Such an inspiration in joy, leadership, orchestration & craftsmanship....
Joe Zawinul was/ is my favorite musician for over 60 years. I reluctantly say that Sabine was ( only for me now folks) the only glitch in any of his many lineups. That said, he dug having her in the band whaddya gonna do 🤷♂️
The smile on Joe's face! Sabine really elevated this group to make everyone play their best, and to have fun. Watching this video, feeling grateful and happy.
Never seen anyone twist and subdue a Korg m1, to serve the music the way zawinul does, and that Singer,a spiritual musical cousin of Al jarreau and bill summers,..she is a blessing

If I remember correctly, this flute is (also) played with air from the nose. Has origins in Congo maybe? She studied music with the pygmees. You can do research on Google.
