The fact that he had the idea of looking up marriage and proposing to Claire well makes him human in a kind of way.
I think his reasoning for looking it up so that he wouldn't mess up on asking her for marriage
Like Data. That's what I like about Isaac. He is an alien android, but also wants to learn
Thing is, Isaac is written so that he can desire. He has more emotions than he likes to admit, they're just robotic emotions. He sets his mechanical heart on things and strive for a definition of "efficiency" that isn't far from the human definition of happiness.
he'll say he doesn't love Claire but at the same time admit he derives satisfaction and a sense of personal completeness from being around her and sharing time with her, which is ultimately what love is.. He sacrifices his time to do little things to make her life more "efficient" (happy). His wedding vows were a longwinded way of telling Claire she completes him. He guards her children with his life and betrayed his people to save them. He may not be a human but he's a good man.
i like when he invites his whole planet and slowly turns away knowing he did something wrong just like any other boyfriend/husband

I love how, despite his obvious research, he didn't get the notion that he should propose in a less random-seeming manner. How odd, that an artificial being would act without trying to first gain full understanding of the parameters in play! Almpst like... excitement 😉

I have been rooting for these two since they started bonding in season 1. I'm so happy they made it through all the drama. They are my favorite couple 😍.

Well we all know that Isaac still has his emotions still not as much as he did at first but he still has them
Isaac has strong emotions. He just won't use emotional terms to describe them.
The dude rationalizes his reactions when at their core those reactions aren't rational. Like the Kaylon Primary Isaac is capable of emotion, and even visceral feeling. Don't let the fact that he's uncomfortable labeling his reactions using human terms distract you from this
@@hagamapama all the Kaylon are, they just don’t like to admit it, if they couldn’t feel anything then their Builders wouldn’t have been able to torture them, they can at the minimum experience pain, they have a strong sense of self preservation which would indicate they can feel fear, there’s more examples, however my point is they simply don’t call them emotions because emotions are inherently a biological reaction of chemicals for organic life, and they take a sense of pride in their belief that they are inherently superior to organics, and so admitting that they feel things like we do would be admitting that there’s something they are at the minimum equal to us at, which would hurt their egos
As an autistic person I find the Kaylon incredibly relatable tbh, they have feelings, but they simply feel in a different way to organics and are in deep denial about having feelings at all
My personal opinion is that despite them not lasting long, Isaac does have the experience of feeling emotions in his memory banks, which probably helped immensely with his desire to bond with Claire (and also after seeing Bortus and Klyden renewing their own bonds). He may not instinctually feel them the way he did for that brief period, but he is trying to teach himself through other means. In seasons two and three especially, we begin to see that even though he insists he cannot feel emotions, that his interactions with the crew is teaching him how. Another small example of him learning bonding that I really loved is during the wedding when Malloy is singing; there’s a brief moment where Isaac places his hand on Marcus’ shoulders and just gives it this little squeeze as they are listening. Subtle moments like that show that Isaac is not only capable of learning emotion, but that he is displaying them without him realizing it.
@@3adgamd3r Honestly I'd love to see a portrayal of a 'we are superior' synthetic race that takes the opposite approach for emotions - instead of going "we are beyond those silly emotions based on primitive life". They would go "You primitives can only comprehend eight kinds of love??? HAH! We have precisely one hundred and twenty three forms of love, and are experimenting with adding several more in our next species-wide software update!"
After all, saying your have no emotions despite being a 'superior synthetic' puts you on the same emotional level as a fucking bacterium.
@@pokemonfanmario7694 Oh my goodness, "woke" robots. Now I desperately want that to be a thing. Not because I'm anti-woke but because that would be so FUN to see a good writer deconstruct wokeness using such a concept to pry it open, get a good look at it and explore its pros and cons.
Because wokeness can be both pro and con depending on what you do about it and, exploring something that's a bit too controversial to tackle head-on is EXACTLY what science fiction is for!
The Kalon can transfer themselves into me bodies. We learned that Isaac lacked the proper circuitry to continuously experience emotion. Why doesn't he just upgrade into a new body with the needed parts?!?
What if the new circuitry changes his personality? The same software can work very differently on new hardware.
