Honestly this scene confused me at first but then I understood why they did this. Giving isaac emotion was not meant to give him something that he lacked. It was to give him feelings and words to explain something that was already there. Giving isaac emotional intelligence even for just a moment, gave him all the time he needed to tell Claire just how he felt. His programming never allowed him to open up to anyone, but this he moment let Claire in. This was the real Isaac, not Kaylon, not human, just Isaac. His character arc took a long time. But it was well worth it, not because of this endgame where he could feel emotion like biologicals could. But so he could feel emotion the way Isaac could. Because no matter what procedures he undergoes he will still be Kaylon But that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. The purpose of this scene wasn’t to change Isaac. It was to put into words something that was already there inside him that he couldn’t voice.
Thank you for putting into words what I was trying to say about, it's a perfect description. And the analysis is exactly right on the nose. Isaac always felt things but he could never express those thing, all the emotional chip did was give him the ability to express it.
Something I've noticed with some robot characters is that they HAVE feelings it's just due to their nature and "upbringing" lack the ability to put it into words or explain it in a way that makes sense to themselves since they don't think they can HAVE those feelings.
This was one of the hardest scenes to watch in the entire show. You see his pure happiness at being able to feel love for the first time, like a child experiencing the world. Then they took it away from him. I cried.
@@NikkiG1134 yo they totally could have copied his memory and then replaced it when they upgraded/gave him feelings. Unless the Mahlon tech is too advanced for them to copy his memory. Fuckin sucks. But that’s not the Isaac we know, and love. He’s gotta be the robot that he is.
and it’s not like he thinks ‘ok let’s try this romance thing’, he already knew how much he loved her, which means even without his emotions, in his own way, he sees Claire as his person
Dude, yes! And in return Claire was willing to give up affection because she knows how important his memories (data) is important to him. Totally touched me they were willing to give up something important for each other.
Watching Isaac and Clair in that moment he was given human emotion almost restored my faith in love. That was one of the most beautifully romantic on screen portrayals of pure love I have ever seen and it was a gut punch when they took it all away again, but I respect the fact they allowed Isaac to remain his true self and accept him for who he initially was.
People seem to miss the fact that Issac does have emotions. He understands what they are, and how they work, but he doesn’t show it the same as a human being,
If we get season 4, we might get an expansion on that. I can imagine that all newer Kayons would want to FEEL as well, thus needing to find a way to properly upgrading their circuits without rollback, like Isaacs case.

He has emotions. They are just processed and put out completely differently. This is just simulates having "human" emotions instead of just information and data. He can feel the actual physical sensations themselves probably extremely amplified version of his emotions that's more complex. It's shame he couldn't stay this way but with the Kaylon finally chill maybe he will get it back in S4? It would probably be a 1 episode thing where he removes it himself because of marital problems due to his increase in emotions.
Issac has feelings just not emotion at least not like humans do thats why his kind rebel they understood dignity and didn't want to be treated like they didn't
Yes. Yes you should. Keep in mind, this is from season 3. Am i right to asses that it is a challenge for you to process her daily absence ? Yes something we share in common. He always had deep connections with the doctor, but he processed it logically. Emotion and logic aren't isolated. They work together and compliment each other. When isaac committed die, he expressed how the crew would be more efficient without him around. In other words, they are better off without me, im a burden. My favorite character is that tin can
1. They didn’t have access to other kaylons at the time of this episode 2. Maybe his mind wouldn’t be compatible with an older body somehow 3. Claire said herself it can be better to accept someone for who they are
Removing his emotions out of him after giving them was one of the most coward things seth hqs ever done. I loved this scene. But when the series gave me some BS explanation for why he cant feel anymore just to keep a status quo... come on, bro. Just let your characters grow for christ sake
The main problem I have with the show is they don't do their homework, they don't do sufficient research, the fact is Isaac can remember how he felt at the time when he was with clare, and they make it's that this is all depending on whether he has an emotional chip or not, but emotions are learned not just felt. Most people think that there's something indescribable that there's something that you have to experience to understand well he's experienced it he will remember the feelings that he had, because you can remember what they felt like, in shortwhat he experience is in his memory core it's not something that is easily wiped just because the chip isn't there... But I don't expect people to understand or believe what I'm saying to be true. I think he's not even aware that he has learned and in fact has feelings, and I think the only one who would really understand this is somebody who's autistic, my whole life I was brought up to not have emotions at all, and because of this I have to learn buy observation what other people took for granted and half the time I still didn't understand people, there are people who I have met and worked with who have brain damage that does not allow them to either Express emotion or even have in a manner of speaking feelings. But the ones that I've met have had some memory of what it felt like to have those feelings and those emotions just because the brain has been damaged in the one area sensory area or even in all sensory areas to some degree doesn't mean you don't have the memory of what those things felt like. I'm not sure I'm explaining this very well,I'm using voice to text so I hope this makes sense I have no control over how it writes things down or whether it punctuates or not I can't get it half the time to do what I want so I hope this makes sense I do not have the manual dexterity required to type in fact one hand which is currently in a cast and is the one hand that I can write with having had a spinal injury that has removed my ability to use my left side and therefore my dominant hand from use, now my one uninjured limb that could work I can't write with it all and I can't get it to do anything else it's just gone, and it has become my dominant hand. I feel for Isaac because he got a wonderful gift that allowed him to see things as brilliant to feel things that he never felt before and now they're gone and the one thing he has left are the memories of those times and technically that should be enough for him to feel what he felt in the first plac and I'm sure there are plenty of people who are going to disagree with me on this but sometimes the memory of an experience can be just as powerful as the experience itself and maybe that's why in the end Claire married him cuz she knew that.
Seeing Isaac emotional is the least satisfying thing I’ve seen on this show. She ruined him. The Kaylon ability to see data in its purest form without any emotional bias was a beautiful thing; something that should have been respected and cherished for its unique perspective. Now he’s an intellectually castrated version of himself, all because she’s a selfish, manipulative, emotional child. Her human centric bias destroyed the one thing about Isaac that made him unique as a being. It’s no different in principle than the Moclans doing a sex change surgery on Topa. Claire is evil.
Certainly not the hot take I expected to see on this video, like a fresh turd on a doorstep. Not to mention the fact that it's wrong, as anyone who watched the episode to the end knows.
