If the loss of the birthright happened long before the deception then why the deception? The idea that this answer justifies the lying, plotting, cheating of father and brother is just beyond me. Who hears this response to their totally reasonable questions around this messed up story and thinks “well, that’s all I needed to hear! I’m totally fine w this story now!”?
This is insane and idk how anyone moves on from this story when the the answers of “why is this okay?” have NEVER been answered in any satisfactory way. It’s no wonder that nonbelievers use this as an example of on of the Bible’s contradictions. It contradicts the 10 commandments multiple times in this one story. Idk how people just move on to the next story. You’d have to WANT to be convinced you should just move on. You’d have to not actually care for these answers to suffice.

It was never acceptable that's why after all those years Jacob still feared his brother Esau. He knew he was guilty.
The problem with Esau was he didnt give so much attention to most important thing in this world - God.
You will see the similarities between Abel and Cain.
Abel was a God pleaser, Cain not so much he never made an effort to know God. He just keep doing his thing never considering if his actions was approved by God. He never had any affection towards God.
On top of a hill, thinking it would be his last night. Jacob PRAYED to God.
Some people CHANGE. After Jacob's struggle with God he was a different person, he was given a new name and a disability as a reminder.
To honest with you I would have also connived to steal that birth right. If I knew the significance of it. I cannot imagine passing that opportunity to be the great grandfather of the Messiah.
May our Lord Jesus forgive me.
My theory is that since there are no grounds for Esau disqualifying him as a firstborn, if Jacob didnt do what he did maybe Esau will be dead in the future passing on his roles automatically to Jacob or eventually Esau will be stripped of his birthright for unknown reason.
Lesson: Pls hold on to you inheritance (ephesians 1:11).. And God doesn't look at our past mistakes if are truly sorry for it.

As I mention above, God had other plans for Jacob. One of the benefits of being sovereign. As we later read it all worked out over time.

Inasmuch as we acknowledge dat esau sinned in ignorance, God chooses to show mercy upon whom he will, also God who already knew d beginning from d end knew dat esau in conjunction with Ishmael would later become d progenitor of d arab and Islamic race so it would'nt be nice for d messiah to come from dat line of descendants hence Jacob was d right one to bless and dat would impact more positively for d many generation to come. How will it sound dat Jesus Christ was called son of Mohamed or something else rather than son of David? Gods ways r truly perfect.

It was preordained that Jacob will be the one to inherit and carry the burden of God's plan to chose Israel as His chosen people. We must not question how God's mind works, God made choices throughout history for people to rule or carry out certain tasks leaving His Prophets dumbfounded. Jacob got the birthright from Esau, likewise Judah got the birthright from Reuben, and it was God's will that this must happened. We must study this carefully inorder to gain some understanding of how God's plans unfold as events occurred throughout history leading up to the birth.of the Messiah. And because their stubbornness and their disbelief they rejected their Messiah, the very people whom God claimed as His Chosen People rejected the One sent to them to set them free from their Spiritual bondage. They condemned Him and asked the Roman's to Crucify Him. Jesus's crucifixion and His resurrection ushered in a New Covenant to the world where the God's chosen people and the Gentiles could become one in the sight of the Lord.

Whatever happens in the physical has already been manifested in the spiritual realm. When Jacob sold his birthright there was a transaction in the spiritual realm and Jacob automatically became the first born and Esau the second born. Jacob was Esau by Position and not by name

Smartest statement on here, it was preordained everyone what's to tell God how he should do things if you don't like it what are you going to do about it. He made us we didn't make him. I here people say that they don't serve God because of this and that, well he don't need you and you need him. If he want to he can make more people to worship him. Moreover, who are we to tell God what to do. I hear people say why did God take him or her how come he didn't take some of these other people? I.m glad that man is not in control no more than what he allows because we'd all be in trouble. Not to mention why is a robot talking instead of a person

Call me paranoid, but if you’re lying and cheating your own brother and father with the help of your mother it tends to make me think you’re up to something NOT good, NOT righteous, NOT godly. Idk where I’d get a crazy idea like that (10 commandments and basic common sense) but this story has never felt right to me, so I try to just forget it to keep it from ruining my faith completely which tbh is barley hanging on by a thread nowadays. And it’s not from lack of trying. Literally the more I learn the more I doubt this book or at least some of its stories and interpretations. I’ve lost all faith that the book has never been tampered with. So I guess that already disqualifies me. I guess I just had one too many questions to ever be a true believer. Oh well. I definitely tried.

Esau did worst he did not respect his birthright .
Genesis 25: of that red stew! I’m famished!” (That is why he was also called Edom.
31 Jacob replied, “First sell me your birthright.”
32 “Look, I am about to die,” Esau said. “What good is the birthright to me?”
33 But Jacob said, “Swear to me first.” So he swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob.
34 Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left.
    So Esau despised his birthright.

Jacob even offering that deal instead of just giving his brother the stew is wrong in and of itself. This whole story is sick and anti-Christ. Sorry. It’s just objectively true. This story ruined the whole religion for me. Not just the story but the answers I got from pastors and believers as to why this was okay were mindblowingly lazy and contradictory. Idk how any serious Christian could move on from this story by hearing videos like this that pretend to address it and set the record straight.
Thee kinds of NON answers are the kind of thing that drives me crazy. It feel like gaslighting bc the answers are so weak and completely void of any good reason why we should accept Jacob’s stolen birthright as some wonderful miracle of God.
It honestly makes me want to follow Esau’s side. They’re defendant is far more honorable and relatable than Jacob. In what world is Jacob and his mother not the bad guys?
Makes no sense. Answers are totally inept, and it makes me question the whole book and religion bc this shouldn’t be so difficult to answer and understand. Idk how we’re expected to accept this story and just move on without feeling very confused and conflicted. It blows my mind that everyone who claims to be a Christian isn’t still trying to get to the bottom of this until we get some REAL answers for “why?”.

Since Genesis 1:26, when God decided to make man in His image- that sent satan round the bend!
He had always wanted to be like God Isaiah 14:14, and now a mere man, made out o dust - meat for the serpent Genesis 3:14, (believers are lively stones of Jesus Christ, the Living Stone 1 Peter 2:5, impossible for the serpent to devour) the privilege of having God on the inside of Him, Genesis 2:7, John 20:22, making him like God! So, he began to scheme to show God that he was more worthy and God had made a mistake! Who is like God! That was the name God gave the angel He sent to fight against satan and the third of the angels Revelation 12:7, at their mutiny to get God out of heavenly mount Zion- Michael, and he had to call that name numerous times during the battle, which made him smaller and less powerful, until they were cast down to earth and broke all their precious coverings that made them proud Isaiah 14:13 Ezekiel28:13-17 (Now the precious stones adorn the breastplate of the high priest!)
Genesis 3:15, man and satan were each given a seed, and the seed of the serpent will bruise the heel of the seed of the woman, and the seed of the woman will crush the head of the seed of the serpent. Thus, satan began to look for ways to thwart God's plan of having man at His side, so he found ways to steal, kill and destroy! He began to mix the genes of seed of man with his seed and of other creatures Genesis 6. He'd rather spoil the seed of man than have man be redeemed and restored to fellowship, which spells his doom- the crushing of the head of his seed!
So, he began to influence man's decision from then on. Abraham had Ishmael outside of God's will Genesis 15. He thought God would reject Abraham, but God only disciplined him with the sign of circumcision Genesis 16, as a deterrent for Abraham not to think of messing up again before the seed if promise is born, and renewed His covenant in Genesis 17. Since then, satan began to include his own seed to confuse God into blessing it, for if God does destroy it, man wouldn't know which seed was which, so satan followed the first born blessing route. He added Esau with Jacob, and God declared He hated Esau, and loved Jacob, Obadiah, for clarification. Satan messed with Joseph, who was the firstborn of Jacob from his favorite wife, Rachel, and influenced her to steal her father's idols, which would have been a snare, had she succeeded in getting to Bethel with the family, she would have set it up and it would have become a confusion when serving the God of their Fathers, so she was permitted to die, and prophesied about the coming Seed, who would be a suffering Messiah- Benoni, but Jacob changed it to Benjamin, the Son of God's right hand, or the anointed One!
God chose Judah, by grace 1 Chronicles 5:1-2, and satan began to mess with him through his sons. They didn't want to have children, and God dealt with them, and eventually Tamar had a seed with Judah Pharez, but satan added his own- Zerah.
It went on till Moses, when satan put it in Pharaoh to kill all children at the age he believed the Seed would be at that time. He put his seed in Absalom, who was described as perfect as him 2 Samuel 18:, and he succeeded in getting David out of his throne on earthly Mount Zion, which was a replica of heavenly Mount Zion, until he was killed, by hanging on a tree, accursed, with 3 javelins struck his heart,12 Samuel 18:9-17, his source of pride 2 Samuel 14:25-26; Ezekiel 28:17, and instead of the sides of the North, he was cast down and buried on the sides of the pit as prophesied 2 Samuel 18:17; Isaiah 14:15; Luke 10:18-19. Since our Lord decided to redeem man, He took on the nature of man: the promised Seed of Abraham Hebrews 2:16-18.
    Satan did the same when Jesus was born, because he didn't know who the seed would be, thus, he made Herod to kill all babies around His age. Now, he sees Jesus baptized, heaven opens and everyone hears the voice of God, validating, confirming Him as His Only Begotten Son , that they must hear and listen to! Matthew 3:17, 17:2-5 Psalm 2:7; Isaiah 9:6-7;
    2 Peter 1:17.
This led to his tempting Jesus. 1) to know if He was indeed the long sought promised Seed. 2) if He was, he wanted Him to make a mistake in His response that would destroy God's plan of salvation of and eventual redemption and restoration of man, through Jesus Christ, the Messiah. 3) if He wasn't the Messiah, he would be able to tempt him as others, and lead him to his death- as He would have wanted to prove Himself to satan, and to men, by His own efforts and wisdom.
Thus, satan God people especially, the rich young ruler and Judas, and others, to persecute, during His ministry and on the cross Matt. 27:43.Him such that He wouldn't be able to complete the task He was given by His Father, for the redemption of fallen mankind!
Satan only confirmed He was the Messiah after His death on the cross, and by then, it was too late. Matt. 27:54
He is now finishing what he began at this time, against all who would believe on the Son of God, as heirs and joint heirs of salvation with Him! Now, only a remnant remains from the original See of Promise, 144,000 Jews, from Abraham Isaac and Jacob, and the Body of Christ- very few members, as He is the Head, and a multitude that will be saved by their refusal to worship the beast and pay with their lives- from the seeds of Hagar, and Keturah Genesis 15, 25, who already came to affirm their pledge to Him as the way back into their father's inheritance, through Whom they also have access to God the Father. Genesis 25:; Matthew 2, the Kings from the East, with whom God had no relationship before the advent of the Messiah! Ephesians 2:12.
Man will go back to Eden, there will be a second opportunity and man will prevail Isaiah 65, and the earth will be renewed, the olddestroyerd, Joel 2, 2 Peter 3, in the battle of armageddon. Then, a new heaven and earth created Revelation 21. The Heavenly mount Zion will now be in the midst of man and the Lamb, the Light of it Revelation 21.
In light of this fact that there were two seeds at the beginning, and one is the promised Seed, we all have been given the opportunity to choose, if we want to be on His side, or on the other side, there's no sitting on the fence: God has also made it easy to get our naturalization papers and be adopted into sonship with Jesus Christ, if we so desire John 1:12-14, by grace through faith in the gospel of the salvation of our souls, by the sacrificial death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and he will return to take them all up and out of this world, and present them blameless, with exceeding joy before the throne of His Father, our heavenly Father. Otherwise, we will only be looking forward to the tribulation. No one has to be part of it. Whatever in this world that may make us miss heaven, it's never worth it. Hebrews chapters 6 and 10.

The two witnesses are God's witnesses standing for a) The Church, and b) Israel.
They're the ones to whom God and His Son Jesus Christ revealed the whole conclusion of both creation and salvation account from the written scriptures.
One of them, most probably Daniel, to whom the end was being revealed, but failed to understand, and thus had to shut the prophecy in Daniel 12:4,and was instructed to go and rest, until the end, when he would pick up from where he had stopped. Revelation chapters 4-21.
The book was taken back and was consequently opened Revelation 5; Luke 4:17-20, and was shut again, signifying that this dispensation of salvation by grace, through faith in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, would also be concluded. Then, the final 70th year after the Messiah would be cut off- the part which Daniel couldn't understand, because it didn't make sense that the Messiah could be killed. But He rose again from the dead!
John was chosen as the desciple whom Jesus loved, (Daniel was also referred to as "Greatly Beloved, Daniel 10:19), was given the end time Revelation concerning the Churches and their judgment. Revelation chapters 1-4.
Daniel picked up from where he left off in Daniel 9, as both himself and John were called up Revelation 4.
That's why the imagery of the revelation of the prophecies were alike in both books of Daniel and Revelation. They were hidden in Daniel, but made manifest and clarified in Revelation.
The little book, which is the written Bible, was given to one of the witnesses to eat. This puts an end to all written prophecies and then on, every word will be spoken.
      Thus,
The beginning of sin, the mystery of iniquity began in Eden, Genesis 4:8-15-24. (Actually it began with Lucifer, but since he would never receive forgiveness, God began to impute His righteosness as soon as man sinned, and made a way out for him by the blood of the sinless Lamb slain before the foundation of the world, but that lives, sitted on the throne of God in the heavenly places. Ezekiel 28:16, and promptly judged verses 17-19, John 16:11, while man got a 1000 years deferred punishment, which was paid for by the sinless blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, and the complete man, on the cross of Calvary. )
This sin couldn't readily be judged simply because there was no preceding law about being one's brother's keeper that was broken. (Thus, the whole system was destroyed by the flood, and the laws started with that Genesis 9:5-6, until finally judged and finished on the cross John 19:30)
And in verse 15, a precedent was laid down for the time it would take to judge sin, 70x7 or 490 years.
That generation was wiped out by the flood, but the precept remained: sin shall be avenged seventy and seven fold. (Matthew 18:21-23).
This was the standard by which Israel also judged, as they also had to spend 70 sabbath years ( or 70x7= 490 years), in exile, outside of the promised land.
When it was the 69th week year Daniel prayed to God, and fasted to remind Him of the imminent due date of the return of God's people to their promised land; but the sin of the Amorite was not yet full, Genesis 15:16, also, Israel was still in rebellion towards God, and the land cannot sustain rebellion- it was Holy!
So, the Messiah had to come and make a way for grace and justification, and righteousness of God to be imputed, so Israel can get back their monarchy, through the house of David, and back to the kingdom of God, by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, as the Son of God, and the Son of man -the promised Son of David, the king of Israel to order His Kingdom Isaiah 9:6; who would ascend His throne as God had promised him. Romans 1:3; Acts 2:30, and come to bring them back to God, Jeremiah 16:16a; Luke 19:10; Matthew 10:5. Instead, they rejected and killed Him.
Thus, from then onwards, the way to God was opened to whosoever would come to Him by grace through the shedding of His blood, by grace through faith in His sacrificial death, burial and resurrection.
They were given the adoption of sons and daughters into the kingdom, which hitherto, they were not permitted Ephesians 2:13; John 1:11-14, becoming heirs and joint heirs of God and the Abrahamic covenanted promises an blessing (Genesis 25:6- the representatives of his other children by Hagar and Keturah, the Kings of the East, could now access and partake of the blessing, and they showed their allegiance and faith, by worshipping Jesus Christ, as a Child!)
Jesus Christ gave His life for all who would simply believe in Him as Lord and Savior, in order to keep them from the wrath of God that will be unleashed upon the Amorite, until the end. Isaiah 63:18; Daniel 8:13; Zechariah 12:3; Luke 21:24; Revelation 11:2.
And eventually, they will be rescued at the second coming of Christ Luke 21:13; Zechariah 14.
He finished the work of salvation of the soul of man John 19:30 and this continues the "acceptable year of the Lord" which began as He took the sealed book of Daniel, 12:4, from God, as the Lamb of God, who alone is Worthy, and opened the seals Revelation 5, and fulfilled the first of the three part of Isaiah 61:2, in Luke 4:16-21, and He SHUT it again. This will run through this dispensation of preaching of the gospel of grace, (which ended the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom, which ended with the stoning of Stephen) by faith in the sacrificial death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and He will return to gather His saints from the world, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Corinthians 15; and present them faultless before the presence of God the Father, with exceeding joy, Jude 24; with victory over sin, devil, death, hell and eternal damnation in the lake of fire and brimstone Isaiah 66:24.
The second dispensation is nearly upon us, at this time Isaiah 63:4, which will usher in the tribulation period when the 70th and last year will be ushered in to finish all transgressions! Daniel 9:24.
( As the Messiah has become the sacrifice for sin, and was dead, buried and rose again from the dead! His shed blood sprinkled on the heavenly mercy seat for propitiation for sins for all who would go to God by and through Him, simply by faith! Ephesians 2:8).
Then, the Lord will return the second time, complete with His body, as a new Creature resting upon the Mount of Olives Zechariah 14, to make a way of escape for the remnants of Israel Matthew 24:31.
Then the battle of armageddon will ensue, and it will end up in total obliteration of this earth. Isaiah 24; Joel chapters 2 and 3, Jeremiah chapters 1-11...; 1 Peter 3 etc.
This is the fullness and end, and judgment of the sin of the Amorite! Matthew 18:21-22; Psalm 75:8; 73:3-17.
Then the new heaven and earth will be created after the conclusion of the millennium- to mark the expiration date of sin and death, like it was back in Eden. Now man will live out the 1000 year curse of death Isaiah 65, (Genesis 5).
Then history will repeat itself when everything reaches full circle- the serpent will be released once again, Revelation 20:1-6, to tempt man as he did with Adam and Eve, those who follow him will get totally judged and cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, together with hell, death, the antichrist, false prophets and all whose portion is with them Isaiah 66:24. Revelation chapters 19-22.
God has perfected the end from the beginning. But as it is written-"My people are destroyed for lack of Knowledge " Hosea 4:6, so, "With all thine getting, get understanding " Proverbs 4:7; Luke 24:45. Be filled with and led by the Holy Spirit, and abide in the fold, John 10, until He returns as promised, to take up His purchased possession! John 14:26; Ephesians chapters 1-2!
Then He will set up His kingdom! Isaiah 9:6!
      Be encouraged!

Whatever happens in the physical has already been manifested in the spiritual realm. When Jacob sold his birthright there was a transaction in the spiritual realm and Jacob automatically became the first born and Esau the second born. Jacob was Esau by Position and not by name

Godonly just but Jacob was also just! Jacob got chief blessings from God through His mother. Hence Jacob became forerunner in his life! Jacob got birthright blessings by his hard work from Easu. Easo sold his own birthright to Jacob. The word JACOB means "follower ". He. first followed and obeyed his mother's advise and got the name ISRAEL. The meaning of this word is "PRINCE WITH GOD" What a great blessing from just God. Ref Concordance and Analytical Hwbrew Lexicon.

Why didn’t Jacob just give him the stew? How do we know this is true? How do we know Esau wasn’t just joking bc he thought Jacob was joking bc the offer was so asinine that he couldn’t be serious.
Also, Esau hunted all of the family’s food. He was the provider and Jacob was lazy. Why would Esau be ASKING Jacob for a bowl of stew?
NOTHING about this Bible story makes sense.

A reasonable attempt to justify God’s permitting Jacob and his mother to deceive Isaac. As a father Jacob should have been aware that Esau had earlier traded his birthright and that the deception wasn’t necessary. Perhaps Isaac did favour Esau, but as mentioned God had other plans.

Jacob took advantage of hungry brother. He's the one who suggested to Esau to sell his birthright in exchange of stew. Why can't he just give him food. Why ask something in return. They were brothers after all. He wanted something that belongs to someone else.

    It’s Insanity…
If people never read anything else, once Jesus said this to the Father “you are the one true God” (John 17:3), and that God has given him life (John 5:26), it is insanity to continue saying Jesus is God. You are willfully going against God and His Son. There is no random verse that says Jesus is God in scripture, including John 1:1, Hebrews 1:8, Isaiah 9:6, John 10:30, John 14:19, etc. To go against His word is a waste of life, and Jesus told us what eternal life is: it is to know them both.
Swallow your pride in the eyes of God, because in Hell you can swallow nothing.

Jesus is God. He is the express image of The Father (Col 1:15),(Col 2:9), (2 Cor 4:6) (John 1:18). Jesus said "If you have seen me, you have seen The Father" (John 14:8-9)

    • @user-rj8py9ld3j

@@natespeedy24895 He is the image of the Father; that does not make him God whatsoever. When you have seen Jesus, you have seen the works of the Father.
This is why Jesus told us to believe in his works sake, for the works all come from God the Father:
"If I do not the *works of my Father,* believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, *believe the works:* that ye may know, and believe, that *the Father is in me, and I in him."*
Everything Jesus says and does comes as works from the Father first (John 12:49-50). This is what it means to be one with God; it means to serve and do only his will and not our own.
"That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that THEY also may be ONE in US: that the world may *believe that thou hast sent me.* [22] And the glory which thou GAVEST me I have given them; that *THEY may be ONE, even as WE are ONE:"* John 17:21-22

Jacob did not steal Esau birth, right!! he bought it for just some porridge, some soup, and some bread because Esau, never had any respect for his birthright, until it was time for his father to die, and he thought he might get rich! And Jacobs mother is the one that came up with the idea for Jacobs to do what he did to obtain the birthright that he had purchased from Esau! So the whole premise of your story is a lie
