I’ve never seen this before. Thanks for preserving it here on YT. The acting was good.👍 Where and when was this aired? It reminds me of The War Widow, another TV movie that was ahead of its time. I believe it aired on PBS originally. I think it can be found on YT. Goodness, we’ve come a long way……but we are not home free yet. Some people want to take us back to these days of shame and closets. To them I say,”No. Hell no.”
These 2 beautiful lovers are being themselves and enjoying who they are. Yet people are treating them differently because they love each other. The people are totally wrong for what they are doing. Its like God said in the beginning, love one another always. Love is Love regardless of who you are. ❤❤❤❤
Do miss this show sometimes, surely don't see these type of stories on HBO anymore. These real stories do show more & new updates of the past & present. Their still more stories that need to be told from those who have lived it.
There hasn't been an original story written in decades -- it's all just regurgitated garbage over and over. You'll realize that when you get older and see the same themes repeat themselves in different books and movies through the years.
What a great excepting fella in the suit shop!! All the hate in the world and people have to be hurt for loving. Since when was that a crime Don't worry girls, the person that is important in your life, is at your side, so ignore everyone and enjoy. Anyone that disagrees, is evidently unhappy themselves and wanting to control people Aids was perpetuated by 'straight' relationship not gay!
HIV (aids) was in Africa for years before it arrived in western countries. The fear of it was perpetrated by the medical industry to sell drugs. A lot of drugs. For a lot of money. Like the Hollywood and the media do with these shows about gay hate - it was never as widespread as it was portrayed but it made lifetime victims out of people who were never victimized - like you. The majority of people have never cared who people love as long as that thought was reciprocated. get over the victimhood and stand on your own, you'll be stronger for it.
That’s right, I remember that the real Heidi Leiter came on at the end to say a few words. It was very courageous of her to not only take her girlfriend to the prom but to also share her story with the world. I’ve always been grateful to her for doing that and inspiring me to never hide who I am and who I love. ❤️🌈👭
This episode really makes you think both positive and negative things. I'm the type of person that would defend this relationship but the reason behind it is because I'm attracted to women and anything they do behind closed doors. I'd fight for it to continue to exist.
You have made this a hypothetical situation in your statement because these events have been extremely rare throughout history. But they sensationalize fantastical situations like this to turn people like you into victims in your own mind by giving you a boogeyman to be afraid of. Stop being a "victim" and live your life, just like the rest of us are doing.
@@bekindnomad7415 Oh please, gay has been widely accepted for centuries. Nobody has victimized you except you. Stop acting like a victim and take control of your life smh...
I remember watching this when it aired (I had a little crush on Sabrina) and it was right when I was coming out. Almost 30 years later and we're still hearing the same bigoted hatred. Enough already. Leave us the hell alone.
lol there's no more bigoted hatred - it was extremely rare by the time this episode aired. There is, however, people with lifelong victim-status hunters - people like you. Quit acting like a victim because you're not one and never have been smh...

Treat people how you want to be treated, folks... It's not that difficult. We're all trying to get by the best we can.
Wish u can tell haters that on my job. I deal with haters and nepotism. Smh..
It was always the mom that freaked out and had issues with their daughters being gay in these stories. My dad took it better than my mom as well.

Aids was perpetuated by 'straight' relationship not gay!
To this date, homosexuality, in many countries, is considered a crime.

Sadly there is a part missing at the end. All of these episodes had an epilogue with the real person or their family if they had died.
Oh, I didn't know that. Perhaps this was captioned from some network-type broadcast where some things were edited out?
@@ninahallen3615 Most likely. Maybe cut down for time.

Did they every get married ?
@@GLA4330 I don’t know any more of Heidi’s story than her early years. There’s almost no information on her when you Google her.
Wonder what ever happened to the two main actors in this film? Will have to see if I can research that…..

Homosexuality and any other sexuality deserves to be openly lived, not hidden behind "closed doors"

This is so sad that people can't live how they want to with out judgement
Do you feel that way about the vaccines?
There was never widespread judgement - this stuff was made up by Hollywood to sell products. Just because it's on television doesn't make it real.
Can someone be so kind to tell me what's the name of song when they dance in the last scene? It's not Finally nor Born to Be Alive.
this was so well done and so simple but so powerful asome. thanks so much for the way it was done 😊🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈💜👍💕♥️😜
