Pakistan's first capital in 1947-1960 until it shifted north. I travel to some of the Islands that surround today's Karachi and speak to the fisher-folks who are the descendants of the original inhabitants to try and get a sense of who they were? who was Mai Kolachi? the story is revealing in so many ways and makes me smile weaving bravery perseverance endurance all qualities we see in Karachitites. With the waves of rulers who came to the shores of Kolachi, I explore recipes which reflect the Baloch and the settlers who helped developed this tiny fishing village into a trading commercial coastal city. This episode by no means covers what Karachi offers in terms of Culinary culture or histories but is window and hopefully a fun filled one with unusual recipes!
