Thank you for resharing, memories, in 1985 I was in middle school age 12, and do remember seeing viewing these 1985 episodes of Fandango. Wow it is now almost 35 years later and your wonderful reunion here, what powerful memories relived here,...
Great classic programs!! Thank you for sharing. This must have been before Blake Pickett joined the show. TNN, and seeing Nashville Now live in person, are the reasons I went into the television industry. This and Nashville Now used to be my favorite shows! Back then, I thought Bill was SO old. And now that I’m 40, he looked young back then! LOL
I thought Blake Pickett ruined the show and the show country music when she was on the show. I am the Joe contestant on the show and I posted the video. I visited Nashville this past October and no one I met there at the Opry or the Ryman could remember the Nashville Network. v
Joe Richard they didn’t even remember the network?!! That’s terrible. So the Opry is still there at the same place? I know the Ryman is still downtown. We used to love going to Opryland. What a shame it’s all gone.
Wow! This Joe guy was really good on these shows! Amazing knowledge of country music! Very impressive. I’m so disappointed he didn’t win the second show!
The man in the Veterans Life Insurance Company commercial is Hall of Fame Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach, who played in Super Bowls VI, X, XII and XIII, winning two of them.
I remember these shows!! 😁 I was little bitty. 8 years old! My cousins did the opryland vacation. Sat at breakfast with grandpa Jones and junior samples
Stumbled upon the video...nice to see someone from my hometown on TV...... ironically glen the gentleman that beat you from Hamilton Ohio also lived there

I remember watching this show as a kid, and I always really liked it, even if I was more of a rock fan than a country fan. I still grew up with good ol' 80s country. And as a bonus for me, "Mind Your Own Business" by Hank Williams has personal meaning for me now since I was in a play this year in which that song was used. Believe it or not, when I first heard the song, I didn't know it was Hank Williams, although I did like the song from the get go.
This was about the time I first experienced cable TV, and although I wasn't a fan of country music (and still not), I was hooked to this show. Every joke Edgar said made me cringe with the corniness of it all. Thanks for sharing these full episodes.
I'm curious to know if anybody has episodes of I-40 Paradise to post on RUclips? That show was funny and fun to watch, sure would like to see those classic episodes of I-40 Paradise though.
Was this, also titled" Thunder in Paradise", ???, it starred Hulk Hogan the wrestler, in his cameo appearance, show opening showed Hogan and his episode co stars riding at a beach in a speedboat to an opening theme? When TNN was transitioning to Spike, The above was also airing on TNN., newly produced episodes were carried and televised by Spike TV. Same series, or am I confusing the two?
4:55-5:54, "Celebrate TNN's 3rd anniversary with Sports Sunday, Garlits, and the series premiere of Mesquite Championship Rodeo exclusively on TNN: The Nashville Network!"
+Paul W GSN doesn't focus on classics anymore Buzzr does. Also it was rare that a game show that was an exclusive on another cable network appears on reruns on GSN or Buzzr. They primarily focus on shows from broadcast stations, or in GSN's case their own exclusives
But not BUZZR. BUZZR only shows classic game shows from the FremantleMedia library, and one day, BUZZR might add the Barker episodes of The Price is Right (both half-hour and hour-long from 1972-2007) onto its schedule!
Other Country Music queens included Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gayle, Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, the late Tammy Wynette, Linda Ronstadt (until the mid 80s), the late Nicolette Larson, the late Patsy Cline, Trisha Yearwood, Cyndi Thomson, Brenda Lee, Barbara Mandrell and Deborah Allen, among others.
Lots of talent at TNN were also associated with their sister station, WSM radio. The female voice you hear over the You Can Be a Star credits was WSM DJ Cathy Martindale, who also frequently filled in for Gary as the announcer for Nashville Now.
When they revamped the show in 1987, they skipped the second catch up question if the person in the lead could not be caught even if the other players got it right and he/she got in wrong. This was a no contest situation as well. They should have had this rule in the early days too.
I don’t know whose decision it was, but they RUINED that network the second they cancelled Nashville Now and Ralph Emery. I will NEVER understand why someone could have been SO STUPID as to get rid of their NUMBER ONE show! Putting Crooked Chase in during that time slot. And replacing Ralph with that snotty fame-whore Lorianne and that silly Charlie... THAT really started the ball rolling as far as the demise of the network. Very sad. We need it back and we need it like it used to be! All of the cable channels now that have anything to do with Nashville or country music, none of them could stack up to the original TNN.
"My fantasy is you can be a star & fandango live from the abandoned acme-market on route-61 in shamokin land of messopotamia northumberland-county ioml".
The network dropped it's country music content at some point in 1998 or 1999 and was rebranded The National Network but then, later on, the company was bought out by CBS (I think) and rebranded as Spike TV!? "Fandango" ran for 6 years, 1983-1989, on the original Nashville Network.
George Strait singing on "New Country"! He'd only been recording for about a half dozen years by 1986. Country music was about to get really big. TNN's best years were 1986-1993, then the music started to go downhill with the line dance robot acts and Billy Ray and Shania (ugh).
why the citizens of Nashville allowed Gaylord entertainment to tear down Opryland USA is beyond me. As well, Nashville lost a true gem in the Nashville Network which was able to drive tourism to Tennessee. why must things always change, why can't they just stay the same!
We visited last yesr and were not impressed with the area now called Opry Mills. Nashville now seems to be a tourist trap, Broadway is terribly congested with all of the bars

Wow, this is a blast from the past. I used to watch this when I was a kid. Brings back memories! Thanks, Joe!
For many years in the 1980s and 1990s, Sunday was the best place to catch the best in sports on The Nashville Network!
YOU...ARE...AWESOME! I was born after this show was cancelled in 1989 but I remember my parents talking about it! Thank you for posting this gem! :)
When I was growing up in the 1980s
My late grandmother Betty & I
would watch this show
Thankx Joe putting this on RUclips
OK, this made me smile. A lot of wonderful memories of the Nashville network.
Long before it became Spike, television’s first network for men. It is now known as the Paramount Network.
And, certainly, Staubach paved the way for future Cowboys QBs such as Troy Aikman and Tony Romo.
Tony Romo is now a color commentator for the NFL on CBS while Troy Aikman is a color commentator for Monday Night Football on ESPN.
This was such a cute show! I liked this alot.

@James Greek, the term secret square is from Classic Hollywood Squares BEFORE Orion.
And before CBS took over ownership of the Hollywood Squares format.
I worked at WSM/Grand Ole Opry for several years, and Bill Anderson told me he had NO videotapes of Fandango. I'm gonna point him at this.

What was it like? I loved watching that show.
Oh, boy. Shania Twain will be thrilled. After all, she was the queen of the Grand Old Opry in the Wackest Decade of Them All, the 90s.
Other Country Music queens included Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gayle, Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, the late Tammy Wynette, Linda Ronstadt (until the mid 80s), the late Nicolette Larson, the late Patsy Cline, Trisha Yearwood, Cyndi Thomson, Brenda Lee, Barbara Mandrell and Deborah Allen, among others.
The voice behind many TNN promos was Gary Beaty, who did a lotta stuff for TNN back then.
Long before WTBS and WHAS-TV staff announcer John Young took over in the late 90's.
Is he the voice of Edgar the talking jukebox
No! Bill Robinson was!
Lots of talent at TNN were also associated with their sister station, WSM radio. The female voice you hear over the You Can Be a Star credits was WSM DJ Cathy Martindale, who also frequently filled in for Gary as the announcer for Nashville Now.

That was the revamp that led to Fandango's downfall two years later, being replaced by Top Card, and then by 10 Seconds four years after that.

Campbell73 You know TNN has evolved since 1983, as The Nashville/National Network, Spike, and now Paramount Network.
did TNN get permission from Orion to use the term "secret square?"
I hope y'all will reply to this I used to watch Fandango
