That new mix for those pots looks like it will do great . 😊 Good luck. I know its hard to figure it all out. But with alocasias they are a hungry water loving bunch for sure 😊 good luck that mix looks great!
Hi nice video! I also went to orchidfest, in chicagoland, this month and picked up a bunch from ecuagenera. My best mix for anthuriums is 50% orchid mix or chunky aroid mix and 50% tree fern fiber and small perlite. I keep my anthuriums moist and with that mix I can water about once a week. For alocasias, in my experience they do great sitting in water all the time in pon / DIY pon. Once the reservoir is dry i fill it up right away with no dry time.
Oh thank you so much!!!! I was sooooo excited about the orchid fest just imagining Ecuagenera plants being there! I was shocked I only bought one plant! Sounds like we are doing the same mix almost. I officially changed since this video to no longer use Molly’s. I’m not ready to say if it’s a good change or not yet will see. ☺️ Do you use Naked Root Pots or self watering pots?
@@LeafyConversations I don't use naked root pots. I just use the clear plastic pots with a cachepot to hold the water. I leave about an inch or two lightly fertilized water at the bottom.
@tim_meister that is a lot easier. The struggle with the NRP is you have to check it so much and calculate the dry cycle. I learned the hard way Alocasia will not stand for a dry cycle for to long. So, really if I go back to the plastic pots I’ll do the same as you.
@LeafyConversations honestly you could probably just use the naked roots pots as self watering if you get some wicking cord into the middle of the inner pot and then down to the reservoir. That way it will wick the water up into the roots. But it's up to you, you can experiment
Hi your video is gud but just a suggestion to do 1 alocasia in pon or leca as a experiment 80% of my plants are in semi hydro I would never go back to soil. Melissa and the leca Queen as beautiful big plants. And it so much cheaper than buying all those different amendments and reusable.
Thank you for your suggestion and for watching! I have tried leca and all my plants got root rot sadly. My Alocasia are loving this an updated video is coming out tomorrow!
I really never have anything to talk about either. I have to repot my big sensation peace lily. I dread it. My alocasias are babies right now but they are still alive 😊
The plain looking water bottle I had 1-2 drops of BIT. I’m going to do a video on that maybe I’ll do that this morning I have plant chores to do. The fertilizer I use is in the other bottle. I just Jack’s Classic All Purpose Fertilizer. I use it in all my plants except my cactus. Thank you so much for watching and supporting my little channel! 🥰
I’m so sorry to hear that your son has this awful disease. It’s very tough!!!! Does he use an insulin pump and CGM? Game changers absolutely game changers.
@LeafyConversations yes. He has omnipod and Libre. He's having a very hard time since he graduated this year. People don't want to hire diabetics and well you really can't have insurance without a job. 😞 it has been a very bad year for us.
@@JuanellHopper that is terrible! I never told employers I was a diabetic. None of their business. Stay strong. The pump and CGM libre3 is fantastic. He just has to be so diligent with what he eats and all that. Was a long road for me too.
This was a fantastic video thank you!
Thank you for your feedback and watching! 🥰

Great plants and video...what was the top layer you added on the soil? Looked quite interesting
Thank you!! I use Bonsai Jack Grit mix on top of all my plants. I like the look, but there’s also a lot of air flow.
@@LeafyConversations Ahhh that's very cool

@@JuanellHopper Creating videos is fun, but it can be stressful too. You should do more videos!
@LeafyConversations I haven't done one in quite a while. I has about 29 at one time but my plants have grown so much since then.
@JuanellHopper well if you do I’m a subscriber now and I’ll watch!
Also what was in your fertilizer water in the can...would like to know the recipe for the two cans you used to water the plants

My son has been type 1 since he was 6. He's 19. It is a very rough road.

@LeafyConversations they ask and if he didn't tell them they can fire him later if they find out.
@JuanellHopper check out Equality Act 2010. Thank you so much for watching my video and for reaching out!!!
