Can you do a video about things that you can take up that may increase your likelihood of getting a refund e.g medical aid , contributing to your retirement fund , investment properties , i think also having a travel allowance also can be part if you meet certain number of kms per year.

So what if between March - Feb you got an annual Increase maybe in June. Are you supposed to have 2 calculations as if you've changed jobs or you calculate it as one?
Thanks for these calculations. I came up owing them and I read somewhere that this is potentially due to my job change which of course changes income. I still do not fully understand in my case but this actually gives framework through which I can do my own calculations to better understand.
Thank you very much madam for breaking this down so well of us, even though it`s a crazy system but now I can see how they make us broke....keep up this good work.
Hi . Thanks for the information I have been working for 8 years now and all the years I get refunds, I asked someone and they said it's because most of the times I work overtime and the fact that I have made investments how true is this?
More reason for us to vote next year! Very informative and insightful video - I was lowkey worried about my rebate but now I'm comfy - from one professional to another, thanks mate. 🙂
Hi, why are we additionaly assessed when we request for correction after being auto assessed? Why is the refund reduced or taken back by SARS even thought no adjustments were made?
You are helped me a lot thank you dear my problem is I changed my bank details on February these year but they still deposited the money in my old bank account. Where do I start or what must I do now.
I just bumped into this, I need your help. I had a side hustle in which I earned based on the hours I claimed, somehow SARS when they did their estimates they told me I had a short fall. How can they estimate how much they would have earned from me if I was not paid a fixed amount each month? Now I owe them a lot of money and they have started with AA88 notice and is killing me. They don’t even tell you when they do this. I saw on my payslip, even my employer didn’t tell me.
I've been on retirement for the past 11 years.GEPF. And I got refund for the past 3 years without submitting. I haven't received anything this year. Where do I get my IRP5 and how can I check if I owe or I'm to be refunded
Thank you for the content. I was supposed to get x amount from SARS returns but there was a confusing part which I still do not understand. There was a rebate deduction which nearly depleted the refund that was due to me. It makes more sense after I have watched your Video.
Yes,it is informative thank you bt i really don't understand the way SARS sometimes tax is different compared to previous year incase the salary does not increase that much bt the problem is that the tax is too much...that i really don't understand if you can clearify that for me please😱🤔
U get the same salary as another colleague, u got taxed the same amount. When its time for returns u owe n the one is getting thousands. This is utter bullshit
This rebate deduction capped to zero had me queuing at the SARS offices for four hours. I am still so bitter that I don't get paid. I missed this in all the research I was doing. Thanks.
I got an sms saying I need to provide SARS with my correct banking details. at first, I was scared thinking I owed them but I will submit and wait on them. thank you so much.
Hey I just want to find out regarding where my medical bills for an operation was not paid by the medical aid n I paid from my pocket. Example Annually salary R389000, Medical bills paid for that year R24500.
What happens say you have a car allowance benefit from your company, say of R5000 and you do not use it whatsoever to buy a car but just pocket it, maybe it's convenient for you to use your God-given legs, will you owe SARs when you do tax returns and why will you owe them, is it because they would have taxed you kancane since they would be like ah, it's his/her allowance for a car so let him use it as it came?
What happens is you've got rebates previously and for 1 tax year you never worked at all. Let's say you have property and paying a bond (ITb 3). Can you get anything back?
Good day Sisi, How do you factor in once off payments that were issued to you, how do they affect your final payment ratio if they were taxed at your tax bracket? (Once off payments recieved are those from increase negotiations where the employer decides to give us a lump sum instead of a salary percentage increment)
Hi doll last year I received money from divorce so my attorney told me if i don't find a job until this year I will receive money from sars but, when I checked my e-filing it showed i I don't receive any money 😢so mhm how is it working?
Hey Nokuhle. Thank you so much for the calculations. If possible please assist with how medical aid, text free savings, investments affect your returns? Coz yoh it's a hustle when you are paying for someone else's medical aid
Hey Babalwa ☺️ thanks for watching. So will try briefly explain. (1) Medical aid payments you’ve made will REDUCE your taxable income, so similar to that individual rebate there are also prescribed medical aid rates. And if you have more than one beneficiary SARS gives you a bigger reduction. (2) if there are any medical expenses that you paid out of pocket ie. Not paid for by medical aid, these may allow for an ADDITIONAL rebate on top of the medical aid rebate. But there’s a calculation of what portion of that amount is deductible just make sure you keep all these documents of expenses for such purposes. E.g. when you get glasses AG Specsavers and they make you pay for the bluelight effect, you could claim that for your return since medical aid doesn’t cover it. (3) Investments: the companies that hold your investments should email you or make documents available on their apps where they clearly state that these are for tax purposes. These documents outline how much interest income or dividends you’ve received for the year. The income you earn will be added to your taxable income but SARS also provides a standard deduction that can be applied (because they still want to encourage people to invest) but if you invest ABOVE a certain amount then you will pay tax on that portion. (Sorry I don’t have my handbook on me so I can’t really quote specific paragraphs 🥹 bht hope this helps a bit…)
When u pay MA that is not urs, you need to submit 1. list of ur monthly contributions 2. an affidavit from the person u are paying MA for declaring ur relationship (i.e if it is ur mom, she will have to do an affidavit stating that u are hef child) 3. Copies of ur monthly bank statements showing the contributions 4 and of course the MA certificate from the service ptovider.
Can you tell me if i have an independent that i put on medical aid but not covered by the percentage of the employer meaning i'm paying 100% contribution for that dependent .do i get refund for that or not?
