Sara, an IT professional & Stephen a graphic designer and artist are world-traveling Canadians who dreamt of moving to Europe, and France in particular. In 2020 they were working from home when Stephen turned to Sara and popped the question she was longing to hear, “What would have to be true for us to buy a chateau in France?” They searched online for months viewing hundreds of properties. They narrowed their search and toured some properties when they happened upon the one that captured our hearts, Château de Saint-Germain-des-Prés. A year later they made the move to France to start their new adventure in our beautiful Château. They created “Manor and Maker” to reflect the two sides of their adventure. One, to live as chateau owners with all the ups and downs and two, to pursue their passions as makers, creating art in all its forms. They will invite others to come together, united by their passions, to share in this adventure. We invite you to join us too, as we bring our dreams to life. Welcome to Manor & Maker.

I am not an arty type and do not really undertand it but I am glad that you can open your home to others to allow them to show their work to the public. It is a great use for a chateaux such as yours. ATB regards from the UK

This was an absolutely wonderful ...... episode. Giving art a place to be seen, opening the chateau to varied styles and personalities. I'm sure the artists enjoyed getting together while Sarah & Stephen got to live with the inspiring, though short transformation.

2nd year of exhibition, good for you. I enjoyed the introductions by the artists themselves. Patrick (Journey to the Château) was quite kind to translate the German into English for your viewers. He is such a generous, unpretentious soul. Glad to hear you will be able to fix your barn roof from the print sales. I'm looking in the mail each day for my prints to arrive.

As a new painter, thank you for a wonderful video... makes me want to move to France. Art seems to be much more important there than here in the states. (Live around Laguna Beach and Newport Beach... lots of galleries) Very inspirational!
The ceramic sculptures of Claude Aussage really resemble the ones I used to make. I was surprised to see that! I've never seen anyone else make ceramic sculptures similar to mine before.

You two are terrifically talented. Especially Sara's sewing skills and Steve's artwork. I love the colors of the reupholstering in the main room however, it clashes with the wallpaper.
The Latvian artist says " your hands are not obstacles for your.....", (Sorry I missed the last word) what a great quote btw
. Meanwhile Flora says hold that thought whilst I bust out my roller skates, lol

Debussy was an inspired choice to accompany your visual ramblings ... I will say that the Chateau lends itself very well indeed to a vernissage of this nature.
It really does - the artists were excited to have an option to display larger works!

Beautiful! I recently moved into a new apartment and am able to put up my own art. Your retrospective of the art in your chateau was even more beautiful as I looked around my own small place, but saw my works. It was as if I could also exhibit. Thank you!

such a treat to see all this wonderful artists showing their passion work……i love to observe art and let my mind flow with what i see….to me it does not mtter to undertand what the artist likes to express…its more valuable to me to have my own journey in my mind when observing artpieces and paintings………its so funny, i jus wantedto offer you the possbility to translate from german to english and than Patrick came along and already did that…i will live a few villages away from your chateau in a few short month and looking so much forward to come and enjoy your amazing events next year…

Our pleasure! The artist’s introduction is something that most visitors won’t have. We have a wrap up event on Sunday, where the guests will meet the artists, but not likely in this depth.

I am on a River Cruise in France and I was listening to the music in the hallways of the ship…all of a sudden I realized they are singing about Saint Germain des Pres!!! (Which I guess is also a district of Paris). It can be your chateau theme song!!! “A St Germain des Pres” by Aldo Romano!!
