  • If you had the chance to build your Epic Jeep Build, what would you do?
    We purchased a stock Ecodiesel Jeep Gladiator Sport S and brought it to Epic Adventure Outfitters where we customized this Jeep to attack all types of off road trails as well as be able to overland.
    Depending on your budget, offroad experience, and style, Christian and Paul from Epic Adventure Outfitters will help navigate you to get the best off roading build.
    We went with the Teraflex 3.5" lift suspension with Falcon 3.3 Adjustable Shocks. We might upgrade the lift to help with towing our travel trailer; more to come regarding this.

      Resale value, sway bar disconnect button, 4 to 1 transfer case, and the higher fenders add up pretty quick as well. But I can live without some of those lol

      @trevinated Год назад +1

      I wonder if there was any price saving when you add cost of getting lockers and disconnect added on top of the new lift..
      How about gearing in sport diesel vs Rubicon? is it the same gearing with the eco diesel?

    • @UnwindingRoads
      @UnwindingRoads  Год назад +3

      @@trevinated ecodiesels only come with the 3.73 rubicon or not. Not much savings once you add all the extras. I do believe my locker setup is more reliable... Hard to say. At the end of the day a rubicon will sell for more than a souped up sport.

      The e-disconnect is great for most. Our last two rubicons they have crapped out and we switched over to SwayLoc.
      The diesel with the 4:1 is outstanding. The high line fenders are another thing that is really clean… are these worth the cost? Guess it’s all in how you use them. Probably 90% of Jeeps ever even use 4-low anymore…

    Nice rig. Being that you have the Krakken, it would be handy to have an air lift setup just for the flat tow weight situations. Like a purpose-built second rear shock that simply hangs around for the ride when off roading, but gets charged to lift when needed. Little side project for the Ginger. 😉 🤙

    I am new to your channel but have seen you with Shaun and others. I subscribed. I am looking forward to more of your builds and adventures.
    I agree with you the Sport is a good way to go especially with the EcoDiesel. I have a Wrangler EcoDiesel. I paid $42,000 for it 2 1/2 years ago. I have upgraded to larger tires and a Terraflex 2.5 inch lift that actually got me 3.5 inches. I have always wondered if they made a mistake. The tires and lift cost me $3800 so I am way ahead of a Rubicon for what I use it for. Yet, the EcoDiesel has the Rubicon axle and the 3.73 differential. No lockers and no sway bar disconnect but I can add them, if I decide to do it, and still be under $50,000. The other Rubicon features are icing on the cake but then I wouldn't use most of them.

    When you hook up your trailer, are you using a weight distribution hitch?
    It make a huge difference with my wrangler. Keeps it all level and actually drives better without the back lifting the front up. More control.

    • @UnwindingRoads
      @UnwindingRoads  Год назад +1

      That might be a good option as well! My trailer is pretty light. I've had the wdh for heavier trailers. What's the weight of your trailer?

    • @trevinated
      @trevinated Год назад +1

      @@UnwindingRoads My Trailer is 2700lbs dry, but 3500 GVWR. I would guess I usually pulling it at around 3000-320lbs.
      I even found it feels more stable in the wind than without the trailer. LOL
      For me the control is much better, and I really like how it keeps that front end down.
      I'm thinking about changing to a Diesel Gladiator too. Regardless of the lift springs and shocks, I would still use it myself.

      best way to get a hold of them is sales@ecodieselownerscanada.com
      I have had NO issues with switch on the fly and the tazer. One requires you to be on the brake and the other requires you to be in the radio menu. That said, he has told me multiple times that he can not support this because there has been too many complaints with them not working together. I believe this is user error but unfortunately it's EOC that has to deal with the consequences of it... Hope this helps....

    • @UnwindingRoads
      @UnwindingRoads  Год назад

      They do have hd springs now. I've also heard of people putting the 4.5 inch spring in there instead of the 3.5. I can't really comment on either, since I haven't tried them... I do hit the front bump stops pretty often so going to have to look at the options.

    • @Escape.Idiocracy
      @Escape.Idiocracy Год назад +1

      @@UnwindingRoads for sure. Having a spring rate that is matched to the weight is really important. Adjustable shocks can only account for so much…. Especially since most lack specific dampening AND rebound adjustability….
