Greetings, can you consider doing this class virtually as well?
The charged off credit card what is the law to use, credit card showing a balance and credit limit on credit bureaus.
Mark up your report circle both of those things but send a letter requesting validation when they notify you saying verified send a round two requesting a reinvestigation and let them know the report still shows inaccuracies follow the law under 15 usc 1681i for disputed accuracy
If they don’t remove it then submit your complaint to the CFPB showing all in inaccurate information so circle the two you mentioned in your comment and any dates that’s off and the information in the payment history. Look to see what they reported as first date of delinquency and compare it to your payment history and mark it up. Submit your evidence and the resolution will be to have the account deleted.

However, whether reopening a previously closed Verizon account and reporting a late payment is legal depends on the specific circumstances. Here are the relevant sections to consider:
1. Re-aging of Debt:
If the account was closed in 2019, reopening it and reporting new activity (such as late payments) could be considered re-aging of debt, which is illegal under the FCRA.
15 U.S.C. § 1681c outlines how long certain negative items can stay on your credit report, with charge-offs typically remaining for seven years from the date of the first delinquency.
The FCRA does not allow the "resetting" of the clock to report an old debt as new unless there is valid recent activity.
2. Accuracy of Reporting (FCRA § 1681s-2):
Creditors must report accurate information. If a closed account is reopened or reports new activity inaccurately (especially if the account was paid off, settled, or discharged), it can be a violation of FCRA § 1681s-2, which deals with the responsibilities of those who furnish information to credit reporting agencies.
You have the right to dispute any inaccurate or incomplete information under 15 U.S.C. § 1681i. If Verizon re-reports the closed account with inaccurate details, you can file a dispute with the credit bureaus.
3. False or Misleading Representation (FCRA § 807 and § 1692e - FDCPA):
If Verizon’s actions are misleading, such as reopening the account and falsely reporting late payments, this could fall under false representation, which is a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) under 15 U.S.C. § 1692e.
You have the right to dispute these errors, and if the information is not corrected, you can pursue legal action under the FCRA or FDCPA.
Steps to Take:
Dispute the Error:
You can dispute the inaccurate reporting with the credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion) directly. They are required to investigate your claim within 30 days.
Request Validation:
Ask Verizon to validate the debt and explain why the account was reopened and reported as late after it was closed. Under the FDCPA, creditors are required to provide validation when requested.
File a Complaint:
If the issue isn't resolved, you can file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) or consider legal action for FCRA violations.
