One way I can tell if my cutters are meeting up together straight is to fully close 'em and hold 'em up with a bright light to the backside to see where any light shines through and gently sharpen those areas down a tiny bit at a time until both blades meet flat across with least amount of light showing or none at all if possible then sharpen evenly across both blades. Most important part of this type of sharpening beginners should know is you're mainly trying to remove debris first then straightening the blades at the edge back to their original form whilst removing as little metal as possible. I try to stick to hand sharpening for better control since it's way too easy to slip up or take too much off ruining your tool using a dremel/grinder/ect... It's definitely an art and takes practice and patience but worth learning to save money on expensive tools and a task beginners should start by practicing on cheap junk tools to avoid ruining good sets.
you can also flatten a copper pipe and use it to clean the jaws before start cutting them with a file. most likely all they needed. then u can use the same copper to clean your file as well.
Not if you get Knipex. They are the best they hold up better than anything I've ever seen in my life. And I've seen hundreds of pliers. I really have a fondness for the Knipex forged wire cutters electrical pliers. The only bad thing is the price of them nearly $60. But you make up because you won't be back and forth by a new tools or welding them and grinding them down to put a sharper edge on them. All they do is just keep cutting and cutting. Unless you use them to cut things you're not supposed to do then you might have a problem.
I completely destroyed some side cutters trying to sharpen it, i could never the the two cutting edges to meet again and the pliers kept disappearing into metal dust, its a lot harder then it looks

5:58 thats a typical job for a rotary tool*. Also i found instead of using these grinding stones, diamond tools are better suited for this. I was suprised that even the dirtcheap rotary diamond tools worked xD. Also cool are the tungsten carbide burrs for rotary tools, i thought they break but they dont. (i had e 2mm version and it goes relative fast through thick steel. *if proxxon IB industrial (110$) or dremel (150$) are to expensive for you, a cheap 25-40$ rotary tool is better than no rotary tool :D . (but buy one with mainspower, the 12V-Version are too weak, even the proxxon 12V)

@@dustyguy wasps i guess there called, you know like yellow-jackets.? starting to get a large um nest? or hive? that big honeycomb looking thing. anyway i shot em with some gas and lit em on fire so thanks anyway.
@@rottenrobert666 Wait till it's really cold one morning and cut the top hanging stem and let the nest fall into a trash can and cover it up, drill a small hole and spray hornet spray and let it sit covered for a couple of days.
if u have some junk pliers around u can also make yourself one of those hose clamp tool things. look it up there are some different designs all simple enough. i think it would be more useful for you. have fun

You aren't doing your file any good. You need to lift the file on the pull stroke or it will dull the file's teeth
